August 2017 babies!

Thanks! I have no idea what I'm doing, thank god for this site! My lidwife hasn't mentioned anything to me.

Her name is Scarlett Summer A... (don't wanna put my last name incase someone on here knows me aha!) X
Scarlett was my choice for athena! Love the name!

Theo is a lovely name Charli :)

Well scarlett seems to be very popular in people's choices but no one ever uses it. It's the only name we like tbh! I don't know anyone with the name lol. X

Thanks :) Hoping that it's not too common!

No I don't know anyone called Scarlett either (I know of someone who called their daughter that about 6-7 years ago maybe, but other than that). My OH doesn't like it though!

Ouch my arm is starting to hurt from the jab already and it hasn't even been 4 hrs!

I know a couple of Scarlett's one my age and one who was born the same week as athena. Think that's why Simon overruled me. X

Theo was on my list too for bump but hubby said no instantly. He wanted Alexander but i really don't want that xx

We did discuss Alexander as well, OH wanted Lucas as his first choice but I just liked Theo more! It's hard when you have to agree on a name :p

I had suggested Lucas too but veto'd. I also liked Logan but he said no because of my slight obsession with Gilmore girls haha! I also liked mason but another no. Its hard naming a kid!

Ah I love Logan but my cousin called her little boy that last year so it just wouldn't work! It is so hard!

I love Theo but we already have one in the family, it's difficult as most of the names I like people close to us have already used! I only know one Scarlett too, lovely name :)

PB, my whooping cough vaccine was done by the practice nurse, you can just ring and book in with her.

I would say don't book it in just before you plan a weekend of decorating... I think my arm is about to fall off :(

It's funny reading boy names you girls are considering because I have literally gone through them all and not found one we can agree on even though plenty of them are lovely! I don't know how we will ever pick lol. OH is quite keen on it not being a name you can shorten as you can't shorten either of our other two. But the only name we like so far is definitely one you could shorten.

My weekend of decorating has been ruined by OH having terrible tonsilitis and not being able to get out of bed so he can't watch the children while I get on. He hasn't been out of bed for 48 hours and seems to be getting worse - just what I need! X

Oh no you don't have much luck with illness Rose!

I didn't want anything that could be shortened either (hence Theo) but its different I guess when you pick it based on the shorted version instead. I really like Oliver but I hate Ollie, so I would never pick it!

22 weeks today. First time pregnant mums that my partner works with keep asking him if I'm showing yet (I'm only a few weeks ahead of them and they aren't) and he is like 'Umm yeah she is huge' lol x

I dont want names that can be shortened either and also want different. Our current ( hubby is dead set on it now) choice is unusual and not really able to be shortened.

So just been Googling on how to look after new borns (I'm sure it'll come naturally when she's here though right?) Anyway my mil is insisting on buying us a bumper pack thing for the cot, and ive just read that they're really dangerous, even though she said it's not, i feel like a dick if i turn around and say don't buy us one, and hubby is pissed off that I won't be using it! I said I will put it on when she comes round and take it out when after. :/ I'm sorry I don't wanna put my baby in danger.
Parenting advice changes all the time, and I bet when our kids are having kids everything will be different.

It is the string on them that is dangerous from what I understand - the ones w/o are ok?

I think any are bad as can suffocate and get wrapped up in them. The NHS tells you not to use them now. They'll be better off with a bump than being trapped etc x

I'd just be really clear on what you want and don't want (you can even forward the information to her), it's your baby, and a shame if you get things you won't use. Maybe you can suggest something else similar? Cot bedding or a sleepyhead or smth like that? x

Haha you are definitely way bigger in the bump than me, though I'm slowly getting there :P

Haha misscharli - worst thing is I think this is a fairly slimming photo of me, I think I might be bigger. I've compared it to my previous pregnancies and it's definitely rounder and lower than my last so I think that's the extra fat there doing it lol! It sounds crazy to be saying '18 weeks' left now as that sounds like nothing at all. Kids are going to their ain't tomorrow so had a big day of DIY planned but my OH who is feeling a little better suggested we just went out and looked disappointed when I said no - he seems to have no sense of urgency about getting things done - what if it comes early! I could have even less time! X

Haha I know! At least my OH is fully into the DIY and building all the flatpacks (he has just started the ikea changing table now!). I'm too organised to leave anything to last minute, and if I want to actually help him I need to do it now. I'm too much of a control freak to let him do it all, he was helping me paint earlier and I had to really behave

Ah but at least yours is nice and rounded, mine is still a bit lumpy where the chub I had before hasn't quite been rounded out by baby :P less than 16 for me! eek.

This is the changing table we got:

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/childrens-ikea-products/baby/changing-tables-nursing/sundvik-changing-table-chest-of-drawers-white-art-90256727/

Except we only paid £100 and OHs parents bought it for us!

I'm the exact same - total control freak with the decorating. I can't behave myself, just the way I breathe gives away how much I can't stand the way he'll do something. Hahaha. But he just wants to rush through things and not do a proper job whereas I want everything to be totally perfect and properly prepared before any painting happens! X
