August 2017 babies!

Pb - yes I totally get that. I've not really felt much movement either and it's made me think am I actually pregnant? Maybe is just cake. If it wasn't for my 20 week scan this week I'd be booking a private oneX

Rose83 - hope the morning sickness is a one off and you feel better soon. Is it warm enough to open all your windows and doors and let the air flow round? X

Thanks Tashap, unfortunately I was sick again this morning but I doubt it will last too long. It's not warm enough for doors and windows to be open (we live in Scotland where it is rarely warm enough for that lol) but I had a few windows open yesterday and changed all the bedsheets which seemed to make a bit of difference but it still stinks and my OH will not stop complaining! X

Ohhh no Rose  it could have been worse and could have even led to a fire! Easily done though, what with pregnancy and exhaustion and sleep deprivation!!! xx

How about putting a wash on and hanging the freshly washed clothes on airers in front of the radiators? Might freshen up the smell of the house? You got an essential oil burner? A few drops of lavender or citrus-y essential oil? Although, this might not go down well with your sickness! So sorry to hear you are still throwing up :( Take care xx

Rose does oust not get rid of it?

Have my 20 week scan today at 1:30 :) hope she's doing ok in there. Hubby can actually come to this one yay. Excited lol.

Good luck with your scan PB!! How exciting!!! I was having really horrible baby kicks last night that were really sore like he was kicking something he really shouldn't. I am also 24 weeks! I remember first time being so excited go get to "v day" haha! I feel it is all going super quick this time. I got a double buggy for £45 yesterday! It is just the joie double, I'd wanted something different but my car limits my choices and I can't afford a new car just now. Xx

Best of luck with your scan PB!

Jill, congratulations on V Day! Bargain on the buggy, it's always good to get deals on things that are in good nick whether they're preloved or not. It's a good brand too, it'll last you. I absolutely hate my buggy now, it's bulky and hardly gets used, it was such a waste of money. Unfortunately because it's been sat in the car, it's managed to grow mould on the underside of the basket. Somehow my boot managed to leak in water (how!?) over the winter and then with having the heating on and bits of (unused) cat litter after the bag burst the mould got growing. I've cleaned it off but it's not looking great, has anyone got tips on how to clean it properly to remove the nasties that might still be there?

Haha oh dear that isn't fun! Have you looked on Pinterest? There is always tips and tricks for cleaning things on that. My dad is taking athena and my nephew out tomorrow for the day ( peace at last! Woohoo) so I offered him the buggy for them as well as the back carrier. Might as well get use out of it for the munchkins until this bundle arrives. Only thing I Wang to get now is an insert for new baby so he is secure and a new boppy. My old one was left at My in laws after we moved and will be stinking of smoke yuck!!

I just spray bleach at everything. So I have no helpful tips I'm afraid lol!

I was thinking about buying a maxi cosi familyfix car seat Base and a pebble car seat with it. Do you guys know of they're good, it'll be like 400 for everything. But baby will spend alot of time in the car I want something safe... we got a car seat with the pram I bought but it's just a seatbelt one. Don't wanna spend that much on something that's shit. Loool x

PeanutButter, just a suggestion,
can you find a base for the car seat you already have to make it safe? This will end up much cheaper for you, but still safe - just a different way of fitting it in the car. What is your car seat's brand?? Has it got good reviews re. safety?

That is what I had myself for my first and now will use it again (mine were both Britax as our car is a 2004 bmw model that doesn't have isofix).
Then you can always invest on an isofix seat for the following age stages that can last you long xx

It's a cheap one, just for seat belts I think. I havn't a clue! I know nothing about car seats tbh. My dad was gonna buy us the car seat (didn't think he realised how much they cost) now he's putting half lmao. I like the family fix Base cos you can have different seats as she grows up, i know theyre are plenty of different bases all around the same price but read that that's the best one but unsure on seat with it. I think in the long term it'll be cheaper to buy a Base that can hold different seats, cos if i buy one just for the seat we have now, I'll have to buy another for a different seat when she's grown out of the baby one. X

Oh I see PeanutButter,
you see I didn't need a base for the next size car seat I bought (I got the Britax Elite 2-way which I'll be using as rear facing for my toddler for as long as possible for max safety). I guess it might be different for isofix and you're right wanting to account for future. The other mummies that have isofix can be of better help than me xx

Just, from my experience, the baby car seat that came with my travel system was super useful as it clicked onto the buggy's frame which was priceless for taking baby in and out of car and onto buggy when needed, without taking him out of the seat unsettling him or waking him up. I know bubbas are not supposed to spend ages in the car seat of course, but it was great being able to not unsettle him and just let him nap uniterrupted until he was ready to wake up. Does yours click onto buggy?? xx

I don't know enough about this but if you are minded towards maximum safety then think about getting an extended rear facing car seat as H4R says.

Alot of these go from birth to 18kg (4 years), some go even further in age.
We have britax dualfix which you can turn which is great ( this is isofix).
But had a maxicosi baby seat and base before this, but could have saved a bit of money and not bothered with the baby seat.

These are big car seats though and they don't have the convenience of being able to slot out of the car and on to your pram.

Xx

Peanutbutter - how was your scan? Mine is at 3.30 x

All this talk of prams and car seats is so exciting. X

I'm pretty confident I know my stuff when it comes to car seats so ask away!

I have the maxi cosi pebble car seat for baby - I paid £130 I think in 2014 and it has done for both children and will be doing this next one too and I fully expect it to last for any more children I have too. All the fabric comes off so you can put it in the washing machine so it genuinely still looks like brand new.

When I got it I knew I wanted to get the maxi cosi 2way pearl extended rear facing seat for my daughter so I bought the 2way fix base. Important info: do not buy the family fix as this doesn't fit the 2way pearl. Just for arguments sake say you thought you didn't want an extended rear facing, the maxi cosi pearl which is the next seat after the pebble and is only front facing costs around £180, the 2way pearl costs £200 so it's not like you are making some massive saving so even if you only kept them rear facing until they were two it would still be worth that extra £20 I think. The 2way fix base costs £190, the family fix £175. The difference is that maxi cosi don't make it clear that the 2way base is the only one that is completely flexible for later.

So I have two 2way fix bases and two 2way Pearls and they've been great, by daughter (28 months is forward facing now although my partner started that and it angered me as I always wanted to keep them rear facing as long as possible but now she knows different she would complain) and my son is rear facing. I will be buying a 3rd 2way base for the pebble for this baby.

One thing I would say though is that I know a few people who once they are past the pebble type seat actually prefer the idea of something like the maxi cosi axis which can be spun on its base so you put the child in the seat while it is facing out the car door then swivel it round to be facing the front - these are easier on the back if you have a low car/ normal hatchback etc as opposed to a large people carrier type car. Other companies make one like these too.

My brother had a silvercross carrier come with his pram and by second baby got rid of it for the maxi cosi carrier as he didn't think it was good enough for a second child and was too heavy.

In terms of connecting to prams most car seat brands/prams will sell an adaptor for your pram to allow major car seat brands to attach. So my bugaboo has an adaptor for the maxi cosi car seat to attach. I always did this for my two until about 6 months x

Ahh thanks ladies :) much appreciated. I think it's best if we go and have a look and see how everything is fitted etc.

Had my scan and for once the ladies doing my scan were great! They had us both laughing and she was so gentle, I was falling asleep it felt like a belly massage aha! She was a student though, I much prefer students they seem to care more lol, but even her trainer was friendly, my first good experience :P
Baby is definitely a girl yay!! They said she's perfect and said she has an amazing heart (I dunno how it can be amazing but apparently it is!) She's very healthy :) abit bigger on the middle compared to the rest of her body (she is a fatty?)

Ahhh I can't wait until August!!!! X

So back from my scan. They said he is definitely still a boy! All is looking good, they want to re scan me in two weeks though as the abdominal measurement is in the 95th centile. Has anyone heard of this before - bit nervous about googling x

Glad yours went well PB

Aww so glad all went well for both of you girls!

Tasha, I wouldn't worry as babies can come in all shapes and sizes and some grow faster than others, or some body parts more than others until at some point they level up or down. It could be that he is a bigger baby generally, just very well nourished ;) Or it could mean nothing. But I think they might want to make sure with another growth scan to check if it could be an issue with higher sugar levels? Might give you more growth scans which is a plus or worst case scenario have you do a sugar level test if they think you should xx Beautiful bubba Tasha!

Glad scans went well Tasha and PB.
I wouldn't worry too much about abdominal measurement Tasha. Like H4R says, they come in all shapes and sizes. Definitely no googling!

Looking forward to the 4 day weekend.:)
Anyone have anything nice planned.
We are mainly chilling, seeing friends and family.
Will do a little Easter egg just for our daughter at some point.

Despite this being my second pregnancy i still have a midwife appointment next week for 24 weeks. Will be nice to be checked over again. It's been ages since the last appointment.

Xx
