_•~•*XoXoX*•~•_ JULY 2015 Mummies-To-Be _•~•*XoXoX*•~•_

Imogen is another name I like that OH isn't a fan of. He's difficult!x

I really like Holly for a girl, but then if we do have a girl our children will be called Ben and Holly - which is a kids tv programme about elves and fairies, so not sure if I can do that to them! Other than that we also like Grace, but that has been very popular recently and my step-mother's nephew (so I guess my step-cousin) named his little girl Grace earlier this year, so not sure if that's a close enough relation to stop us. The other girls name I really like is Emilia, but our niece is called Emma, which is just too close a name. So we're a bit stuck on girls names.

Even more stuck on boys names though. Having a surname near the end of the alphabet, I'd ideally like a first name that's near the beginning to balance it out. My husband is a teacher, and most of the names we think of - he teaches, or has taught a naughty kid with that name, so it puts him off!

Still there's plenty of time to think of something!

I adore almost all of the names you ladies have mentioned.

Jack and Harry are also two of my favourites but OH has already no to those. Imogen, Holly and Hannah are really lovely, but OH doesn't like them either.

Sophie would have been top of my list probably but my niece is called Sophie.

I wish my OH liked traditional and simples names too! He likes a few simple ones but I hate them. His new favourite is Owen.

I mean, Owen Warwick. No!

xx

It's a massive responsibilty to choose someone's name! Also tricky when there's 2 of you in on the decision.
I think another reason I like simple names is that mine, although not unusual isn't massively common and was barely ever written on things when I was little (badges/door signs/mugs) I always remember searching for my name and pretty much never finding it, ha. I want my child to be able to find their name!x

It is such a huge decision. I'm sure we'll find a name that just feels 'right'.

Awh  I'm a Katie so I never had the problem of finding my name on things. Although it was occasionally a Katy which always seemed so wrong to me. A friend of mine is called Floren so she literally never found hers.

Little things like that matter to a child though! xx

When I was pregnant in the summer I loved the name Georgia. I still quite like it but not as much at the moment. Imagine if that happened once baby was here. Few months on and I decide I no longer like their name, heck!

My best friend had a diff name for the first 3 weeks of her life.

Wow, really? I've known where babies have no name at all for a few weeks. My colleague said she didn't name her son for 6 weeks because they couldn't agree on one! But I've not heard of it going the the other way, with a name change! I've heard people say that they have picked a name but then it just doesn't suit baby. So I think it's definitely worth having a few names ready xx

My mum's friend changed her mind on her daughter's name in the car on the way to get her registered!

Can't imagine not naming baby for 6 weeks.

We saw a baby name book the other day and said whatever name we opened it at would be what we used. Decided against it when we got Jesus then Genevive. Not sure who put that book together.x

 Oh dear. Jesus! We did exactly the same the other day with a baby name book and it suggested something equally ridiculous. Titan, I think.

xx

We have quite a few boys names picked but only one girls names, we both like charlie, archie, thomas and middle name will be after my grandad because i don't think he will live to meet him/ her :( girls name is faye but no middle names picked. Its funny how knowing someone else with that name can put you right off xx

Charlie is lovely and Archie is so sweet. Oh I'm sorry to hear that about your grandad, but what a lovely tribute to him xx

Faye is very sweet too, a really pretty name.

True. We've been put off quite a few names because of knowing someone else with them. Even if it was someone from school years ago that you don't even have contact with any more!

xx

Lovely to get your Grandad's name in there. I wanted to do that for my late Grandad but thought it was fairer to say a boy would be after OH's family and girl after mine, bit mean of me to demand both.

I'm like that with Hannah, really like the name but there was a girl at school with that name and she was a total bitch :/ x

Some lovely names there ladies : )
My first LO is called Rory and he was nearly going to be called Wilson after the film castaway with Tom Hanks because my bump looked like the football in it lol

This baby we like Riley for a boy
My other half likes Megan for a girl but I have no idea on girls names : s

Hope your all well x

Ugh, I got all excited when postman just delivered an envelope from The NHS, turns out it was my prescription charge exemption card.
Still nothing about my scan date. I'm getting really impatient now, desperate for a date to work towards.x

I'm the same crawkay it's driving me mad! Finally see the midwife on wed so fingers crossed for a scan date! Hope you get one soon x

I'm 11 weeks tomorrow, definitely thought I'd have a scan scheduled by now. Midwife said she was sure it would be week between xmas and new year but is that unlikely now with still having heard nothing?x

Hope you get sorted soon too.x

I was meant to see the midwife on the 3rd but she phoned in sick I was waiting for an hour at the doctors, furious! I'm 11+2 so we're in a similar situation I was so hoping for a scan before Xmas :(

Ah yeh, I remember that.
Well I hope we both get sorted before January. Just want to know everything is ok.x

The latest they scan you is 14 weeks so it should definitely be before the 6th Jan (if that's when your 14 weeks?). I would be tempted to ring the department to check what was happening xx
