I have a very similar sounding thing going on! I saw the midwife today and i showed her...i did a slight sit up and theres a small protrusion below my belly button downwards. She said its where the abs part a little to make way for baby and is very common...and the tenderness is the ligaments inbetween stretching. But if you're worried no harm getting it checked anyway xx

Yep, my stomach muscles split during my last pregnancy, after the birth I could get my fist between them. I needed physio to repair this. Wasn't painful, I'd have never known if the MW hadn't have told me x

Cor Keely that's crazy!! My MW said it happens in 2/3 of pregnancies - i had really strong abs before pregnancy so don't think it's something you can prevent...a bit like stretch marks I guess, if it's going to happen it's going to happen! But really good to know its mendable

Glad to help miller there's a simple test to see if your abs are starting to separate (MW showed me so its safe ) - lay on your back then lift your neck up like a really slight sit up to tense your abs - then press just above your belly button. If there's a gap then you know its your abs...the gap can vary from 2 fingers wide or like in keely's case a fist wide but stear clear of sit ups, bad for baby and apparently encourages the abs to separate even more! Awww little lady is certainly growing!! MW listened to heartbeat and its really high up now instead of tucked behind my pelvic bone eeek!! xxx

I wouldn't mind I wasn't even big, my bump stopped growing at 30/32 weeks. Doing your pelvic floors regular should also prevent it as its strengthen your core too x

20 week scan went well today - she has all her fingers and toes, organs in the right place and measuring bang on. Gross little thing was having a suck on the umbilical cord haha!!! But we saw her lips - she has very full lips like her Daddy. Will be booking a 3D scan for around 30 weeks xx

Yay we are all getting proper bumps ! I am just hoping a stranger comments on my pregnancy soon which will mean I officially have stopped looking fat and actually look preg. I can see people looking at the bump but not totally sure if it's a baby bump or not !

Wonder if she will be a 'sucky' baby ! My Oscar had his cord wrapped 3 times round his neck when born and since always likes to bundle something under his chin when he sleeps - like a teddy or blanket ! I am sure he wrapped the core round his neck himself in the womb !!

Hello lovelies! I don't have a bump yet, I still look fat! Have definite bump envy of you all!
Heard babies heart beat yesterday at 16 week midwife appointment! It was lovely after not feeling a kick in 24hrs! I have my job interview today so feeling very nervous and then the gender scan on Sunday! So so so excited xxx

Re bump comments as well - someone who I work with (not overly close with!) came up to me yesterday and announced very loudly "God, you're all boobs and bump!!!" - no hello, how are you, any sort of small talk. Just straight in with that!!! Good job I don't take things to heart xx

I've suddenly become very aware of my belly button today. Sounds very very strange but please bear with me! I have a bit of a phobia of belly buttons (yep, now I sound even stranger!!). I hate them, they make me feel a bit sick and my own actually makes me feel sick. Over the last couple of days I've become more and more aware of it being pushed out from the inside - and man it's freaking me out!!! I'm sat watching tv and all I can concentrate on is my belly button and how it feels!!! Can't say I like it very much to be honest xx

I hope it is something that I just get used to as you say. It's just so so weird!!! Seems to have eased off a bit now but earlier was just extremely conscious of my own belly button xx

Aw everyones bumps look fab. Mine is tiny

Still being very sick and struggling to eat even 1000 calories.

Can I ask, who's a ftm? Are those with the big bumps already mummies?
