Would we get hospitalized for sever morning sickness?

Sorry but private healthycare IS privaliged. Why? Cos you have to be earning loads to be abel to afford it!

We've looked into private healthcare when when I was so poorly with HG and took so long for them to sort me but jeeeeeeeez hubby would have to run a gold mine to pay for it!

Totally different for me here . If I don't have it I simply cannot afford the treatments and medications lily needs and she's on too long of a waiting list . It's not a privilege for her it's a lifeline . Yes it's bloody expensive and sometimes I go without petrol and clothes for myself in order to have it but without it we would be lost because out health care here is awful :(. Anyway on the actual topic of the thread  I've no interest whatsoever in the Royal family but I feel so sorry for her because she's in a very public and vulnerable position now and suffering a bloody horrible condition . My mum was so sick from it she vomited blood

Pointless topic....

Hyperemesis is really common. Some have it really bad and Some are just a little more precious than others. I know this coz I look after them all day lol :p

Oh right! when they say on the news severe morning sickness it puts u in 2 minds dont it. Coz we all get it some worse than others x

they dummed it down for the news by saying severe morning sickness because 'most of us' wouldnt' know what hyperemesis gravidarum was! lol but that is what she has and it can lead to severe dehydration and nutrition problems - so imagine she is on drips and anti-sickness meds:eh:

My sister in law suffered with HG in all 3 of her pregnancies on her last I moved in with her to care for her and I can honestly say I have never seen anything so horrendous in my whole entire life!! She was unable to keep anything and I mean anything down she was so sick she tore her oesophagus and was bringing up blood. I literally had to do everything for her including bathing her. The weight dropped off her like there was no tomorrow. I would say for 'normal' people no we wouldn't get hospitalised as quickly but she doesn't live a 'normal' life xx

I know a few ladies on here that have had HG and at least one that was hospitilised (not the lady mentioned earlier!!)

xxxxxxxxxxxx

They do a test for keytones in your urine, if they are present in ANYONE you would be hospitalised, they wouldn't just take a guess she's dehydrated and bung her in hossy, I'm sure she will genuinely have HG. There's a girl on here who was hospitalised with it tallulahgosh I think her name is.

not necessarily, I was given anti sickness meds to try at home first, the Drs are probably being cautious with her, with Kate being who she is, but I am sure if she was able to be treated at home then she would have been, but she will be private which allows for privileges,

I have no idea where this thread came from...

Its not a privilege to have pmi? ?

Everyone should look into it nhs being as it is I sell it I should know

The longer you leave it the more likely you are to rack up pre existing conditions and yes.... it will be expensive lol

I'm not loaded yet I pay for mine doesn't make me privileged it's a necessity like any insurance but leave it too late your age will go against you

Lol

This thread is weird

Yay for babies

Wow. Just wow.
I was hospitalized because of HG. I don't have private healthcare. I'm not royal. I'm not remotely famous. Its a horrible, horrific, debilitating illness and had I not been hospitalized, lord only knows what could have happened.
There's a lot of ignorance about it. And hopefully now people will be more aware of the condition and less likely to think she's 'too posh to throw up' as someone said, or getting special threatment.
She is obviously very ill, and needs hospital treatment, and is getting the help she needs. What the hell is so wrong with that?!

Yeah I have ketones after a long day at work without any breaks lol.

As a rule on our ward you need to be ketones+3 to be admitted.

I agree Jayjay. it's quite unbelievable that this is even being discussed. she's ill and in hospital. she is fortunate enough to be having private health care, yes not everyone does but that really isn't her priority of issue at the moment.

I hope she doesn't suffer from it too much. I think we should just wish her well x

What a horrendous way for them to have to announce what should be a very special time in their lives.

As for being admitted quicker than Jane Bloggs would be - there are a vast number of GPs who are very ignorant about HG, and which can be very dangerous. Let's just hope some good comes from her hospitalisation and it helps other be aware that sometimes morning sickness can be FAR from normal.

Xxx

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(

Lunettes, quick question as you are the PMI guru lol

I have just been diagnosed diabetic :( I'm only 31 and hadn't really thought about this kinda thing:( call it denial about getting on a bit I guess lol anyhow would I just be point blank refused medical insurance now seeing as I'm now stuck with a condition that can cause a whole heap of complications?? Just curious lol

I was repeatedly hospitalised (and very quickly) when I was throwing up, in fact they wanted me to stay and I wanted to go home most of the time. Granted it wasn't caused by HG but another medical condition, but they took very good care of me. Even checking babies fluid levels regularly as I was throwing up so much I was dehydrated, and yes, the did keep an eye on my keytone levels.

HG is actually caused by an allergic reaction to HCG.

It's much more than just regular morning sickness ( which can be pretty horrific in itself). It can cause severe dehydration, can lead to preterm labour, per eclampsia, death of baby and of mother if left untreated.

Whether Kate is royal or not - she's probably just as scared as we were when we were in early pregnancy. No mother would want to have to go through pregnancy in the public eye. She will go through all the same as any other mother, it won't be any easier for her x

Its a hard one as diabetes is a continuous condition so classed by insurers as high risk you will be able to get it but you will find it costly having a pre existing conditions. It's the kind of insurance you have to have when you're healthy in case of things happening ...like all insurances really you wouldn't try and insure a car after you crashed for example

I'd recommend you look into a cash reimbursements scheme so you can use the cash back for your eyes ( important to have regular tests when diabetic ) and homeopathic remedies, inpatient stays etc. It will cost no more than 30 a month. Cover for surgery or more serious related conditions will potentially be mire expensive.

You will get covered basically but not for your diabetes. Anything else unrelated is fine

Kate has been a big topic in my line of work I've been explaining to colleagues all day how serious her condition really is health care aside she would have been taken seriously if presenting symptoms of HG

I really hope her and baby are ok what a worrying time at such an early stage

Ladies here who have been through that jeez you poor lambs !

I find it utterly disgusting that we're having to stick up for her on a pregnancy forum. No matter what people's views are on the royals/celebs, she's entitled to be treated as fast as possible! X
