~~~*Wedding Thread*~~~
you get veils that don't go over your face - just attach at the back :D I'm getting one I think. You can get long ones, cathedral ones, medium length and short ones :D
Like these :D http://www.weddingveil.com/combos/catalog.php
Hair clips - not sure. Could buy some plain ones an get some flowers from a craft shop and attach them :D
my veil was £10 off of ebay and came attached to a hair clip. I wasn't going to wear it but at the last minute i clipped it on the back. I kept it back and didn't pull it over my face or anything. I took it off on the way to the reception and just kept the tiara and added my fluffy bolero (it was December, lol)
does anyone know where i can buy some nice little hair pins from with blue on them ??
and also if i plan on having a tiara on for the wedding and my mum really wants me to havea veil to, but were getting married in a hotel so its not religious, so how would i wear it, over my face? or just as a decoration thingy i have no idea lol
I'm having a civil ceremony and am having a tiara and a veil that just goes at the back. I think veils are georgous and its something you dont get a chance to wear any other time :D
I think the length you go for will depend on your dress. My dress is similar to Suzies with a bit of a train so I'll probably opt for a similar length veil.
I'm going to get mine off ebay too, I don't see the point of paying a lot of money for a veil. MIL doesn't have her veil after all, shame, it would have been good for the 'borrowed' item.
i found a gorgeous pearl and diamond tiara at a wedding fair the other day and it was only £35!! i looked like a princess :D:D:D:D:D:D
i'm nagging OH at the mo to get his guest list done as we are supposed to be meeting the vicar next week. im starting to get excited now because the plans are underway and i've stopped worrying about money. what are people doing, or have done for a honeymoon? we thought about italy but neither of us drive and dont want to be stuck in one place. we are now considering a cruise. anyone been on one and how was it? what can you reccomend?
also, still not had any suggestions about transport. how do i get the groom and ushers to the ceremony and then the ushers and bridesmaids and all the other guests to the reception venue??
Iv just bought a veil off ebay
Was only a tenner. Think the shop was flora wedding.
Now iv just looked, its the same one as suzies! :)
:D hehe, good taste :D it's nice, simple but just what you need :D I was well chuffed as the woman in the wedding shop was trying to get me to pay £50 for something very similar. Lol.
Susan - We wented on a cruise, what do you want to know?
P.S hope you all don't mind me crashing your thread. I just love weddings! And we did ours in 9 weeks so I missed out on the big build up, lol. xxx
well Rob is a little worried that we will stop at different places and will then miss the boat (he knows what im like for time keeping lol). where abouts do you recommend going? does being at sea ever get boring? is there much to do on board? where is the best place to go for a good deal? thanks Suzie :D :D :D :hug:
oooh you might be able to help me with the transport too Suz, how did you get your guests from the church to the reception? is ok to get the to make their own way there? what about bridesmaids, best man and parents etc?
thanks hun xx
We're having our ceremony and reception in the same hotel to avoid the travel dilemma.
I've been to wedding before where either the venues have been within walking distance from each other, or else there has been a coach hired to ferry guests.
We're going to Gran Canaria for our honeymoon hopefully. It is a special place for us because we went there when I was pregnant with James.
Our wedding invitations arrived this morning. I will be mostly writing addresses on envelopes this afternoon :D
Right:
You can go on excursions where you get of the boat and go on a specific organised trip so you cannot miss the boat. Otherwise I doubt you'd go very far away from the boat, unless you're really brave! lol. And the boat would hang on for you providing you weren't hours and hours late.
We went to the med, it was amazing. We did a fly cruise. So we flew to Palma (Majorca) and got the boat from there round the med - Sicily, Italy, France, Spain etc. Was lush! We went with Island Cruises and it was the best holiday ever. The staff are amazing. Everything but drinks is included (though you do get orange juice at brekkie and teas and coffees included) food is 24 hours. It's informal unless you choose to dress up. It had a pool, jacuzzi, spa, gym, bars... The evening entertainment was amazing! Fantastic shows. Days entertainment was everything from salsa dancing to wine tasting to flower arranging to ice sculptures, games etc. We had a fab time, i loveeeeed the parties too :D
And it's all where Fi was concieved. Lol.
If you choose to go with a slightly posher company like P&O and you sail from Southampton you'll have a lot longer at sea.
transport - we filled the limo with bridesmaids, best man, me matt etc on the way to the reception then people all followed the limo in their own cars. Which was hilarious as the limo took the wrong turn. lol
Looks like everyones plans have been coming along greatly.
Im not having a veil as i think it would be too much with my dress.
Suzie i have the same problem with transport and i don't think my budget will stretch to hiring a bus but i may have to find the money. We our having our ceremony in the morning for just close friends and family and then the wedding breakfast mid to late afternoon for all our family and friends.
BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER!!! :shock: :x :rotfl:
As I said earlier our wedding invites arrived today and as I was sealing them in the envelopes I noticed they have a gramatical error :oops:
They say Your are cordially invited to instead of You are cordially invited to
The worrying thing is both Neill (who designed the invites) and myself, as well as MIL proof read the invites before ordering them!!
And I've read them several times today looking for mistakes and didn't notice! :wall: :wall: :wall:
Having discussed it with Neill we've decided, sod it, we'll just send them out as they are cos we can't be bothered to spend the time or money redoing them. It will be an amusing story to tell the boys when they're older.
I'm sure the inlaws will go mental when they realise what we've done but fuck it. I'm sure my chavtastic family won't even notice :lol:
Let this be a lesson to you all....check, check check!!!!
thanks Suzie, we were looking at a med island cruises one. Rob wanted to go via Italy so i think that might be a good one to go for. thanks for the help on that.
I thought about a big red bus until i enquired as to how much they are. we wanted a shawley 1906 (gorgeous vintage car) but it only seats 6 people. i might do us and parents in there and then a limo for bridesmaids, ushers and best man. we got 4 bridesmaids, 4 ushers and a best man! hopefully we will be able to afford to do that. anyone know a decent, preferably cheap, limo company in east anglia? yarmouth area to be precise? Suzie where did you get yours from?
:hug: :hug: :hug: Muppetmummy, it will be ok. most people probably wont notice!
I handed out some invites at the school this morning. Luckily no one seemed to notice, or if they did they didn't say! :lol:
The others have been posted...yay! :cheer:
MM i had to read that about 3 times before i noticed so don't worry it will be fine.
We are going to look at another wedding venue on sat for the recepton so hopefully that will be it. We still love the old mill but im just really worried about the size although i took my mum and she thinks its ok i don't want to spend the next year or so thinking i can't invite so and so because theres no room.
So we have looked at the ceremony venue and thats lovely so just need to tie the dates together and then we are done. Im not being fussy i just want it to be right. :oops:
Its worth taking your time when choosing venues, we looked at 4 in total. Its all coming together now :dance:
You should hire an old style red bus and put ribbons and decorations inside and then everyone can get from the ceremony to the reception!
thats what we've got, it'll take guests and OH to the wedding and then all of us to the reception, everyone's really excited about it lol
Haven't a clue who my limo was from. Erm. Nope, def can't remember! It was a silver stretch 10 seater limo and was £170 for the day I think. And it came nicely decorated. If you want I can try and find out who it was we got it from? I didn't book it, lol.
Muppet (lol, sorry, just how I shorten your name! lol) Sue - don't worry i had to read that three times to notice! I wouldn't worry :D xxxxxxxx
