~~~*Wedding Thread*~~~
How bizarre - I just posted that and The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba came on the radio...spooky. Maybe that is the music I should have then? :think:
Tadpole i think the wedding march. Although i do like them all the queen on sheba seems quite fast i would find it hard to walk in steps :think:
Poppy im yet to convince my oh on haldon belvedere :lol: although he seemed happy to go along with it. As i said before i had some friends who got married there (i only went to the party) and they said it was lovely.
Buy a helium canister and fill your own balloons - much easier and cheaper :D
Speeches- are you making one? I did! HEHE
For balloon weights you could have organza bags with sweets it? Either like chocs or smarties or jelly beans.. lol.
LOVE! the idea of helium balloons with organza bags of jellybeans for weights! Thanks hun! :hug: :hug:
With regards to speeches I wasn't going to.....but then OH didn't want to do one either. Maybe if I did one as well I could persuade him :think:
Hehe, glad you like the idea :D They can count as favours too :D hehe
You should do a speech :D I wanted my OH to and so I thought i'd better do too :D I didn't say a huge amount. And my voice kept cracking. Lol. My mum made a speech too as my dad didn't turn up. She was more nervous than me!
We weren't going to bother with hire cars but OH's parents paid for a limo for us - so me and the bridesmaids went to the wedding in that. And me, OH and a few others (lol) went to the reception in the limo. If it hadn't have been free i wouldn't have bothered. lol.
will post some pics tomoz. my camera battery has died :wall: :wall:
gonna have a look at that vista print site now tho x
this is what im walking down the aisle too. ignore the beginning we are having it from when the bagpipes start.
if we have enough money left over we will hire a real piper as a surprise for the guests all the men will be in kilts including my darling OH. we wanted to focus on our roots (both of which are scottish).
im now doing my save the date cards, and am meeting with the vicar in the beginning of February.
i found my dress,my dream one. because the shop will let me pay it off when i like with how much i want to pay each time i've decided to go for it...here it is...
anders3preview.jpg
Isnt it amazing?!?!? I've paid £20 towards it so far lol!
i talked to OH about bringin the date forward because it just seems soooo far away, and im impatient and dont want to wait...anywho we got in a big argue and he basically point blank refused. so im sulking
OH is doing a speech but i made one at the engagement party so i dont think i should do one at the wedding (plus im too nervous!). would like to ask anyone alrady married...what did your OH turn up to the wedding in? (transport wise). we've sorted a wedding car then it occured to me that the bridesmaids wont have anything to go in to the recpetion and OH will have nothing to go in to get there. do we have to hire more than one car?
Try and convince him! It's a beautiful place, I still really want to go there for the ceremony, but we just can't seem to find a reception venue nearby where the food doesn't cost the Earth!
I like the Queen of Sheba, Tadpole! :D
Good luck with the invitations, Sarah, and Muppetmummy - Thanks for the link, I will use it for my invitations!!
Suzie, your dress is fab!
As for us, today things could have changed..We've got a serious contender for the Ceremony and reception, it's cheaper than anything we've seen but just as nice..the link is: http://www.foxandhoundshotel.co.uk in Chumleigh. But they are completely booked up in September..they have the 1st of August or the 31st of October and both my OH and I prefer the 1st of August which will mean bringing the wedding forward by more than a month :shock:
ETA: My best friend and bridesmaid is due to give birth mid-July..She may not be up for even attending the Wedding, let alone being a bridesmaid...So that will leave my sister and Ella as a flowergirl..Maybe October would be better :(
I've seen a really nice dress as well, it's the kind of thing I was picturing getting married in Haldon Belvedere in: http://www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/45004141&bklist=icat,5,shop,womencollections,bridal,bridaldresses
Suzie whens your wedding again? Is it next summer?
Mine and Bee's is next year too.
Your dress is lovely i wanted a red dress but im not sure if im brave enough but yours is lovely.
Poppy that venue looks gorgeous and i like your dress too shame about the dates but im sure you will work something out.
Got a bit more done!
Canceled the registrar as It was gonna be about £400 & they could only do it at 4pm so have booked a retired minister instead. Costs £100 & is available any time on the date.
Got my bridesmaid dresses, bought them off ebay! There Oasis seconds, only cost £20 each!
Its such a relief being able to tick things off the list!
Forgot to add, for my favours im making small tin candles & i'm gonna tie ribbon that i'v used for my invites round them.
Make them anyway so wont be any expense involved!
Bhe sounds like your getting everything organised, and £20 is a bargain for the dresses :clap:
OMG i have done something really bad :oops:
My mum and sisters dragged me to the bridal shop today (just to get an idea of styles) anyway they had a gorgeous red dress in the sale. I tried it on (even though it was a size smaller than my usual) and it was amazing. They all the said the colour really suited me and the dress looked amazing. I was so overwhelmed as i was not sure if i could pull of a red dress so i tried a ivory one on to compare, it looked horrible and washed me out.
Anyway my heart was saying go for the red dress its what i wanted but my head was saying im not sure, so what do you do head or heart?
I followed my heart and brought it :shhh:
Its amazing it has a huge train (a bit big i might have it chopped off)
and it was in the sale from £1000 down to £490.
Its like this one but with less silver on the front and smaller gems on the skirt.
What do you think?
Yes its probaly a bit ott and its more puffy than i wanted but what the hell you only get one wedding (well hopefully) i going to be the centre of attention anway i may as well do it with style.
Bhe...your bridesmaid dresses are a bargain! Sounds like you're getting things in order nicely :D
Bloom.....That dress is stunning! Totally georgous! and a bargain too! :dance: I don't blame you for buying it :D
My plans have come to a halt for the minute as I'm waiting for the hotel to get back to me to confirm that the ceremony can definately take place at 3pm. Then I have to run it past the registrar before I can get my invitations printed. They are designed already, just need conformation of the time before I order.
I get the feeling I'm the only person who cares that its less than 5 months to the big day. I'm like OMG so much to do so little time!! and everyone else is like 'it's ages away, you don't sent the invites out till 6 weeks before'.
They seem to have forgotten that the hotel want numbers 3 months ahead!, and we need to know how many people we are feeding in order to find out what money will be left from the budget for all the frilly bits :wall:
OH is really busy setting up his new business atm so he has no interest in the wedding at all! He's very stressed and busy with that so he has no interest in discussing wedding plans. He says 'you arrange it, I'll turn up!'
I know he doesn't have a problem with marrying me but I think he's doing it for me more than him. He's not bothered about it and would happily remain engaged forever IYNWIM!
Is anyone else finding their OH isn't very interested? My OH wasn't very interested or excited about my pregnancy until near my due date so maybe he'll be the same with the wedding? :think:
MM my oh is exactly the same his attitude is "you want to get married you arrange it" he never got excited throughout the pregnancy too its just the way he his. But my wedding is ages away :lol:
Im wondering if my dress is too much now, too ott :think:
Its 6 and a half months to our wedding now and only now is my OH getting slightly interested in it, mainly because he has had to console me for the last day as Ive been panicking about lack of money. He is most interested in the stag night :lol: To be honest Im just grateful he is going to turn up :wink: Well I hope he does! :? :lol:
I booked a room at Morgans Hotel in Swansea for our wedding night which should be very nice!
http://www.morganshotel.co.uk/room_zeta.php
I have my shoes now, so its just my favours, wrap/bolero and a few little extra bits to get now :) I also have a free photographer! Yay! I couldnt afford one at all but I was worried about not having one, so I now have a photography student doing them for free. He is my tattooists son and a lovely lad so Im chuffed :D
Oh and Bloom, that dress is absolutely gorgeous! I love it! :)
Your dress is definately not OTT! It's honestly beautiful! I would happily wear something like that myself.
Don't worry about me copying though, I've already got a white dress :lol: I did consider a coloured dress but didn't see any in my price range. I tried to find a picture of my dress but the picture on ebay has been deleted. It's been living in the top of my wardrobe for months now waiting for me to get thin enough to get it on to get the length taken up, I'm a 5ft 1 short arse :doh: Its a seperate skirt and strapless lace up back bodice though so hopefully it won't be too hard to get altered :pray:
That hotel looks lovely! and how lucky to get a free photographer! :dance:
Bloom - the dress is gorgeous!!! :D
sounds like everyones plans are coming together nicely!
I have a venue visit tonight, one on saturday and another next wednesday. These are our top 3 choices so fingers crossed one of them sticks out for us :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
Very excited and as you can see trying to squeeze it in before I pop! heh! :lol:
Just trying to compile a list of questions to ask the venue.....
We went to look at the hotel where we thinking of having our reception and i didnt like the manager. The room was great, the price was great, the location was great but something didnt click iykwim :think:
I did a drive out to the tower today and it was lovely i love it (it was closed so i just saw the outside) i really really want my wedding there i could see myself there in my red dress :lol:
On the way home i called into another hotel which was on my list. They are buliding a whole new part of the hotel for functions. Anyway the actual room is built its just things like the kiddies playground, extra bars, 30 more rooms for the hotel that are not built. I couldn't look itside as it was in use but she showed me a picture of a wedding in there and from the outside it looked lovely. Its all done out with drapes. She said by next year it should all be done (maybe not the extra hotel rooms but thats not a problem).
Anyway im going to go back with oh to have a proper look but im quite excited about it. The price was really good too and its not far from the tower.
Well done on getting your invitations sorted, Sarah. Very good price aswell! I'm going to make my own invitations, even though we're only having a small wedding the amount invitations would add up to is complete extortion! I've already done a rough design, and I'm also going to have the same design on my table place cards.
Good luck with the venue visit tonight, Lisaspoon! I have one tomorrow evening and 2 on Saturday, I'm praying we'll find it soon. Nobody within our price range seems to have any availability on our chosen date, it seems we are going to have to move the wedding to August.
Wow @ the Hotel, Loola! My Dad used to live in Swansea (Mayhill area), and he and my Step Mum got married in the registry office near the beach.
Gorgeous dress, Bloom! Sorry you didn't get a good vibe from the manager, though.
I've been phoning round registry offices today and checking availability, and I feel a bit :wall: The venue on the top of our list only has 1st of August free, which is okay for us but the only time a registrar can do is 4:30pm. We wanted an afternoon ceremony, but that's a bit late. I didn't want to go most of the day without seeing OH, and by the time we've all had the meal and stuff there wouldn't be much time left for a party.
I'm hoping the place we see tomorrow will wow us, we can get a registrar to perform the ceremony at 2:30pm and that will be on the 8th of August.
It's our own fault, we shouldn't have left it so late, I bet all the other people who have booked were sensible and booked well in advance!
Poppy what sort of thing are you looking for as ive found some lovely places but they are too small for me i need seating for at least 70 and more space for the evening although Belvedere only takes 50ish we are having only close family and friends for the service.
I might be able to help.
I heard back from the registrar today and have confirmed that our wedding will take place at 3pm on sun 7/6/09 :dance:
Now thats sorted I can get the formal invitations printed :cheer:
Question...On the invitations do I put the time as 3pm, or 2.30pm to make sure everyones there on time? :think:
