*** October 2015 Mummies ***

They managed to determine the sex at mine petchy at 16+6 so they're talking codswallop!

I mean... I got best part of 30 minutes with the sonographer
It did take a while as its all dependant on how baby is positioned
But you could clearly see his 'tackle'
If they cant see any then by omission its a girl

i have had a minimum of 4 pics every time
Even on nhs
They were clearly not as long as my private but still felt thorough and pleasant
I'd complain if I were you

Shame you have to go so far to find out though xx

Yeah, I know - we knew earlier than this with my DS, so it's just bullshit. Fair enough, sometimes they can't see, but he didn't even want to TRY!

Complaining is no use with regards to the gender issue and the lack of pics, as it IS a medical examination, and he did do the "important" stuff. BUT I will be complaining about how he behaved and what he said, especially since I have since found out he did exactly the same to my cousin last year - and she also said a lot of her friends have said the same.

Welcome back Fliss! Glad you enjoyed your holiday

Mumagain (sorry i cant remeber your name..?) i loved my 16 week appointment (i'm slightly weird right enough LOL), glad yours went well too, bet you cant wait for your scan.

Petchy sorry to hear the scan wasnt as good as you hoped, hopefully your private scan is better ... plus baby will be a bit bigger too :)

Gail lovely to hear the news on your blue bundle :blue:, glad your scan went well.

Ive got my 20 week scan next week & im mega excited to hit this milestone, but at the same time im starting to get a bit anxious about my scan - is anyone else?

Hope you are all feeling fab today :)

Can we do a wee kinda round table intro to get to know each other better (sorry i cant remember if you did this in Tr1)

I'm sure we did that at some point but no harm in doing it again, I'll keep it short: I'm Karolina, 28 years young, administrator, from Aberdeen, married for 2 years to my partner of 8 years. This is our 1st baby. We also have a handsome cat Harry :)

Great idea Shelly, I think I missed it last time....

My name is Sara, I am 37! EEEEK and this is baby number 3. Although mine and my husbands 1st baby together. We each have two children, he has two gorgeous girls 18 & 16 and I have two gorgeous boys 7 & 10 :) We live in Cambridge, and I work for the University.

I'm Solveig, I'm 34 and live in Norway where I am originally from. I'm half English though, and lived in the UK for over 8 years - my DS was born there, so I was already registered on this forum from wayyyy back when in 2005. Returned to the forums when I became pregnant with #2. I work as a graphic designer, and live with my OH (also 34) and my DS (9). This is my second baby, but OH's first.

Petchy I cannot believe your experience with the sonographer! wtf??? My consultant could tell we were expecting a boy from 13 weeks!!! (but we already knew from the Harmony). In fact, at my last scan on Friday I could see as plain as day the boy bits! (maybe our little boy is going to have a huge schlong!! hahahaha).

In all seriousness though, his bedside manner is not on and I would definitely be making a complaint.

On the upside, your due date is back in line with mine! :)

It is - although I'm 17+6 today, since us norwegians apparently cook our bubbas for a few days longer than you UK mummies

Hi I am Barbara, 31 and live in Tyneside. This is baby no. 2 as we already have George who is 2.5. I am an administrator and been married nearly 5 years to my OH.

Time for a slightly happier vibe after my crappy scan experience earlier - bump pic it is!

And to think I'm still not even half way there... 17+6 today, after I got put back two days. Help! I'm gonna be as big as a house by the end of this pregnancy!

I'm Nadine, 37 and live near Guildford in Surrey. Married the love of my life 3 years ago and we have a daughter who's 2. I work for an insurance company as a business development director. Nice to meet you all!

MrsS, your scan pics are lovely. I'm sorry your bundle is likely blue when you wanted pink, but like the other mummies have said, I'm sure you'll soon be very excited about your boy. We're going to find out next month. For ages I've thought I'd like a boy this time, partly because I lost my dad in March, partly because I know DH has always wanted a son (and we won't be having any more) and also because I'd love to experience one of each. But just lately I've been thinking how nice it would be to have two of the same. I think same sex siblings are always closer - my brother and I couldn't even look at each other without fighting when we were younger (and I'd hate that). So, definitely pros and cons to both and the bubba being healthy is ultimately my only wish.

Patchy - I'm sorry your scan was such a disappointing experience. He shouldn't be in that job. Lovely bump though! I'm staggered how big I am already. I guess my stomach muscles are no more!

Had my 16 week MW appt yesterday and heard bubbas heartbeat which was lovely. Also recorded it for DH. MW said I had the blood pressure of a 15 yr old. If only my wrinkles and grey hairs didn't give me away! Lol xx

Wow, busy 24hrs here!

Congratulations on your boy Gail. I know you will be crazy about this little man by the time he gets here.

Petchy, I agree, that sonographer was making totally inappropriate comments, if you don't complain, he'll go on thinking its ok

Karolina, I've got pelvic pain this time round, going to a physio next week, as although its not crippling now, I want to be on track with the right exercises, advice and maybe a support early, as I know a few ladies who ended up with crutches from this.

Nice to see the intros, I think I missed these in tri1.

I'm Fliss, 36, pregnant for the 6th time, but with baby #2. Hubby and I married for nearly 9 years, together for 17years! I'm a doctor.

I'm just down the road Fliss in Horsley! Only moved here from West Byfleet 3 months ago, but love it. Impressed with Royal Surrey so far! We both have toddler girls too, aaaahh.

I'm hoping to start some pregnancy yoga classes soon to keep my PGP under control - I found it quite helpful last time xx

Aww loving the intros (thanks for humouring me hehe).

Petchy lovely bump!! If it makes you feel better I was about same size at 17 weeks & not that much different at 19weeks.

Fliss I was at physio 2 weeks ago with what I though was hip pain, turned out the left side of my pelvis was sitting too low! Best to get it checked the now xx

Petchy what a freaking nightmare at your scan, surprised he hasn't been reported before now if he's like that!!
MrsS so glad baby was healthy, sorry it wasn't a pink surprise but honestly boys are ace :) mine loves his mummy & me time <3

Ok so I'm Rach, I'm yorkshire and I've been married 6 years and together for 16, I have a tortoise and an 11yr old house rabbit, more importantly I have a beautiful 3.5 yr old son who I joined this forum for when I fell pregnant with him. Had a normal pregnancy (apart from severe hypremsis) and had the best birth I could have asked for, I used hypnobirthing, just as it was starting to take off but before was popular, I'm not normally a fan of stuff like that but it bloody worked!!!
This is my 2nd baby, staying team yellow if can. I'm still being sick and nauseas and not glowing yet, dry skin & hair, spots, pregnancy does not suit me lol!!

I just feel like daughters stick around longer
And make more effort when it comes to them having kids and including them in your life
And theyll take care of you when you get old

I very much believe in the saying -
Your son is your son til he gets a wife
Your daughter is your daughter for all your life

Hi I'm Shona, originally from Dublin but living in Liverpool over 3yrs, came here as my Hubbie is Scouse. Been married 2yrs April just gone. Joined forum when I was pregnant on #1. Have little girl who is 16 months old. I work as team leader in biotech company. X

I must be the worst daughter ever... I moved away to another country when I was 20! But seriously there is no rule for that. My OH has a sister and a brother and they both keep their parents equally involved in family life. And my OH didn't move out of his mummy's house until he was 26!
