November mummies 2017!!! Tri two.

I am getting really overwhelmed with all the things I need to buy.. I don't know how many of each thing I need.. Why are there so many variations in bodysuits?!!! with arms, without arms, without legs and with arms.. like gahhh i don't know what I'm doing lol! How long do they stay in newborn things? Sorry to be asking dumb questions lol.. whilst I'm at it.. for those of you who have or are going to breastfeed.. I was planning on buying a breast pump with a couple of bottles to go with it from Medela ? I think it's called... Anyway do you think I need a whole bottle kit from like tommee tippee and a steriliser and a bottle warmer? or is that more for formula? Im just thinking for when I express.. So overwhelming!

I'm plannng on breastfeeding if everything goes to plan, but I've bought a big bottle set with steriliser, breast pump, can't remember if it's 4 or 6 bottles, teats, bottlewarmer etc. At the minute the plan is to express at some point so hubby can help/feel involved so I've got the pump and bottles ready in advance. Also, I'm not the person that's planning on feeding until baby is like 2 so we will change over at some point. I am of course planing on feeding as long as I feel comfortable so we'll see when that's gunna be later.

Another point is I've got the bottle set ready for just incase baby doesn't take to feeding or I can't physically do it for whatever reason without stressing last minute and have a back up. Xx

Ah hope all is okay, mine has on the occasion been a little lazy, but the last few days he seems to have been very energetic! Which is the total opposite of his mummy! Haha

Here's to a great big kick as soon as the Doppler is fastened on. X

Starchild! I hope you font mind me popping over. Thought id pop over from tri1 to say hello. I was on forum ttc early this year when you got your bfp! We stopped ttc in apr and decided having 2 was great. However, came back ftom hols in july with a bfp....wasnt expecting it and was in shock for a while as we had psychologically moved on im almost 7 weeks now! Hope youre ok and sickness gone now! Good look with the final tri hun x

Oh hi Melly41! Congratulations! So when are you due?! I'm so happy for you!

My sickness subsided, thankfully wasn't as bad as with my first. I'm 29 weeks & 3 days, cannot believe how quickly it's gone. We're having a little boy. :blue:

Good luck to you, too! X

I planned on breastfeeding with my daughter, (well I did for around a week) but we bought bottles for expressing. Along with a tommee tippee manual pump.

1 week into BFing and it wasn't working for us, little one was literally starving so we popped out for some formula one night & already had bottles at home but they were too big really for just 3oz. Luckily my brother had bought us a steriliser which came with a little bottle & we bought some more the next day.

((Try and get lots of help and support in the early days for breastfeeding))

As for vests & things, our daughter was born late September we put her in short sleeve vests & a body suit on top, if it got colder at night we'd use a long sleeve vest. We didn't have central heating so it got really cold back then!

I'd buy plain cheap vests and suits in newborn as they really don't last long. I spent a fortune on designer newborn outfits and my mum tried to tell me she wouldn't get any wear out of them. I found first size in Next & Asda's tiny baby was perfect for the first 2 weeks and my daughter was 7lb2. Newborn size from most shops was too big. X

Starchild....wow a boy...that will be one of each! Nothing escapes me haha! Glad ms has gone. Not long left now. Third tri will go really fast. I remember feeling reakly good in tri 3!

Im almost 7 weeks and due 9th april. We can a private early scan on sat as it was half price! Will be nice to hopefully hear a heartbeat and am hoping it will reassure me as mc rates are 40% for women my age! (42)

Hope tri 3 goes well for you hun x

I've never once used a bottle warmer for my daughter, we don't even own one. I'd say a steriliser is still useful, for the breast pump bits, dummies, spoons etc even if you don't use it for bottles.

Ah wow thanks so much for the advice everyone, really appreciate it! xx

I have used steriliser for bit and bobs (pump etc) but I would advise going to see your local BF support group before you give birth, make sure you know where to seek help if you need it. I would advise against buying formula just in case because first weeks of BF are hard and you dont want the temptation. Breastfeeding rates in the UK are amongst the lowest in the world, big part of it is lack of support.
As for the clothes, you will need short body suits; sleepsuits to go on top if that (get ones with integrated scratch mitts). You will also need a pram suit and hats. I like GAP pramsuits that you could make into 2 legs or like a bag and they had fold over mitts as well.
My children lived in sleepauits and all in ones for a while. Warm dungarees are nice as well, you will need long sleeve body suits for those
