*** November 2014 Mummies! ***

How bizarre! Hope u get some relief and some answers soon then Hun :-/ but very happy that baby is ok!

Ooh very nice pram choice we just don't have. The funds really so need to be careful that our choice is cheap but good quality too. Is that base thing for your car to attach the car seat. To?
We don't have doors in the back of our car and I think we be best with one of those for ease getting car seat in and out but are they only for maxi cost car seats? Xx

Yes its a base for a maxi cosi. (Although havent actually bought the car seat yet) I think i have found a company that will give you a free car seat when you by a pram so holding off on that purchase.

I think alot of companies do bses for car seats. Its worth talking decision through with experts in the store. We found there help invaluable.

I don't like the look of Silver Cross but I do like Bugaboo, but I'm the same as Kaa, they're too pricey. I was considering secondhand but they'd have to be in good condition.

For new, I'm torn between the Hauck Colt and Lacrosse. To be honest, the colour on the Lacrosse Chilli are swaying me and I'm trying to tell myself that £100 just for some pretty stripes is a really silly thing to focus on.

I'm just going for a seatbelt harnessed car seat, my current car doesn't have isofix and I don't want to limit buying my next one on isofix, as if I get a bigger seated car soon, I won't be getting anything flash or newer than my current car.

Toffeegirl, sorry to hear you've been poorly but glad the baby is okay. Hope they can shed some light onto what is causing it soon.

How would i know if our car is compatible then??

I like the hauck colt in caviar and almond so basically beige and whst appears to be black although wondering if its actually a deep green :-/ i like it coz its got everything, its cheap ish and the buggy can face out and in :) xx

Most cars are compatible nowadays. Just Google the model and isofix. Its only older cars that aren't, even my teeny tiny car is isofix compatible. But then I've read on numerous places that most car seats wont fit in the back of my car as the seat belt is too short, so fortunate I got an isofix base.

Yes the facing both ways is important to me. When I looked up the isofix thing, there are certain rings in your car, sort of down the back of the middle seat. I think they might be yellow. My car definitely doesn't have them, as we've had the back seat flipped over numerous times over the years and not seen anything like that. I'm happy enough with the seatbelt threading through though, I don't plan to have the car seat in and out of the car constantly anyway so not worrying about isofix.

The only Colt I like is the red one but it's a bit of an orangey red instead of purpley red like the Lacrosse.

Ideally I'd like a Bugaboo Cameleon. Just got to see what DW's opinion on secondhand prams is, not holding my breath!

Mellie, I didn't think about the length of the seatbelts, will have to check it out.

Well i was thinking there will be some bargin ex display bugaboo bees mid august as the new bugaboo bee 3 is coming out in september and they will be replacing there demo models. so I think there will be lots of bargins to be had on them.

My parents are buying it, otherwise i would never of been able justify the expense. My oh wants the camelleon but i think its too expensive even with my folks paying. It is fab though

My mum is giving me money for the pram too, but she is giving me a lump sum and I'm trying to buy the best cheapest deal I can find and saving the excess for other things! She did say I could do this. To be honest, according to my spreadsheet, I'll need to anyway, especially after my MOT bill last month and the redundancy.

Hubbys mum and stepdad said they would give us 100 towards pram so we going looking next week but they not mentioned anything recently n cant exactly say u got that money so bit awkward really :-/ but we cant afford it on our own!

Defo think we will shop around before rushing into anything. Not planning on having baby in car loads either but still be a pain messing with seatbelt when have to lean into back of car all awkwardly ha xx

Yeah, I think you need a base, Kaa. If you don't have isofix points, you can get a base that fits in using the seatbelt instead. I'm just being cheap and not bothering! If it irritates me too much, I'll buy a seatbelt fixed base later.

Awkward about the money, perhaps just mention you are going to look at prams soon and chatter on about the ones you like, so it doesn't seem like you are asking for money?

I seem to spend all my time googling baby purchases without making any decisions. Starting to annoy myself now.

Also, I signed up to Kiddicare's Bump and Baby club, they are sending me vouchers out in the post. I'll see what they are, will let you all know if they are worth signing up to. Might be able to get some bargains on big purchases.

I already have hun to no avail :-/

Yeh i keep looking but not doing much. Be better get a base then but again depends on cost really.

Ooh yeh let us know thanks! Xx

I already have our pram, mainly because it had to fit in my boot and not many do, so that limited the choice. Plus we got a bargain at the baby show.
NJP the isofix fixings are like that, however they don't tend to be on show. I never noticed them in either mine or OHs car before, as they're hidden down the middle of the seat.

Mellie, I've had our back seats pulled up and out so many times when moving house and going to the tip, pretty sure there's nothing like that down them. I'm happy without ISOFIX though, seatbelts securing the seat will do for me, then it won't limit me buying another car. Though I think I'm going to try to get along with my 5 seater for a while, since eldest stepdaughter is leaving in a year and works every weekend so we never go out as a whole family any more.

I found Katie's link, it's a car seat with it's own frame so you don't need the whole pushchair/pram thing as well. It's £299 which is a bit much for me, just for a car seat (want a whole travel system for that!), however, it's a really good idea for people who will be using a car seat and frame a lot.

Looking at babies r us now - never occurred to me before - Kaa, you like creamy/beige don't you? There's a travel system called the tio+ on there, it's forward and rear facing, no carrycot but it can lie flat from birth and it's currently £175 instead of £250 and that includes a car seat which can be put on the chassis. The car seat isn't isofix, but I know you can get bases for some car seats that use seatbelts so might be worth looking into this one to see if it works with any bases.

Ooh huni thats great thanks will have a look now!
Not sure that bothered about a base that much coz its going to cost more but might just be worth it fir our car with it not having back doors n if got pram fir that price be able afford base anyway.
Xxx
