*** November 2014 Mummies! ***

Jasmine, nice to hear from you. Good that your little girl is helping to keep your mind off things. I think the ash tree is a lovely idea, it will be somewhere for you to spend some time with him when you need to.

Mellie, my car is like that, tax and MOT in one month, though my tax is about £225, the price you pay for having a car large enough to ferry a bunch of teenagers around in! I pay my insurance through direct debit so it's not a lump sum. I know it costs more in the long run, but it makes it easier for me.

Well i rang kiddicare yesterday to see if they have the hauck colt in store and was on hold for 15 mins so i gave up and hung up. That was before i even got through to anyone!! Wasnt impressed.
Anyway rang tesco they said we can just buy it and test it out when delivered if we dont like it or arent happy we have the usual 28 days to return so think we will just do that n stick to the one we have liked for a while.

Happy vday njp and mellie. X

Jasmine huni thats lovely idea with the ash tree. Hope u are keeping well. All my love to you xxxx

Kaa, that's good to know re. the Hauck and Tesco. The Lacrosse doesn't seem to be in stock either in Kiddicare or Winstanley's Pram World (we're touring the north-west this afternoon on a pram hunt!) so I likely won't see it there and neither Mothercare I've been to so far had any Haucks, to even just see the build quality.

My new concern is the size of the carrycot. The Mothercare Orb has a TINY carrycot, DW said her three would have outgrown it in weeks. Other ones are slightly bigger but she said they still seemed small. The Graco Evo seems a good bet and I think Mothercare had a deal on instore that is not online, so I'm going to check that out again.

I am fully expecting a big baby. I was 9lb10 and my donor is very tall. My great-grandmother was only 5ft and gave birth to a 12lber (my grandma) and a 14lber! I haven't bought anything in 'newborn' size for this reason, haha!

Mellie, happy V day!

I reckon I'm going to have a big baby too, only newborn things we have is second hand things we've been given. Accidentally brought something the other day that said up to 7 lb 6. I've returned it because I don't reckon we'll use it, was extremely cute though and in the sale!

I was average size just under 8lb when born but OH was 9 lb, plus my mom reckons baby is going to have long legs. I figured if we need newborn stuff we can always buy some once he arrives!

The carrycot my brother had for my niece was a lovely size, she was in it for ages until about 6 months I think and she was quite a long baby. They've got some sort of mamas and papas pushchair. Cant remember what one.

I find a lot of them seem really narrow. The Orb was.

The only newborn things I have are gifts too, from friends who had little babies. I've got lovely little vests but they're up to 7lb6 too and I really can't see them getting used. They gave me thm out of the packets with no labels so can't exchange.

At least you have some if needed, thats the main thing. I loved the orb when I looked round, but it didn't fold small enough for me. Then when I looked online a lot of the reviews said it was narrow and that their child grew out of it too soon.

Getting so excited now girls!!!

Ordered out cotbed today.. Can't complain at £189.99 for the cotbed, mattress and a bedding set! Bought a few more bits off the website as well so 3 more payments to make and it will be delivered & now we only have 10 more items to buy :D think I best get a move on and decorate the room now! Xx

And his coming home/first meeting with myah outfit also arrived!! :)

Aww that's cute Katie!

Kaa, Kiddicare was quite good, everything reduced between 10 & 50%. I got a lovely moses basket for £11. It has animals on in bright colours. Some pram reductions but nothing stood out that I think you were looking for. Some good reductions on car seats but there's some good ones online too. Clothes were a mixed bag, only about 10 or 20%off.

I still don't have a pram. Narrowed it down though, so know what I'm googling for now.

Ahh katie that is gorgeous! Can't wait to decide on a coming home outfit. It wont be anything personalised like that though as he probably won't even have a name by the time we leave hospital!

Im going to kiddicare next week again, hope things are still reduced then!

Looks like they will be Mellie, this one said it was clearance, all stock must go.

I missed out on a great deal on an ex display car seat, at a mothercare. Wondering if it's worth phoning up and seeing if I can still get it. But it would mean going back, a 1.5hr round trip.

Hi girls...

katie that is a lovely outfit. So cute!

Njp sounds like you have had a good shopping trip..i love bargins, but 1.5hr round trip is along way for a bargin.... If you knoe the item you want can you get them to hold it for you for a week or something (maybe buy it over the phone) so you can pick it up when you next have a good reason to go! Mothercare seem pretty good about returns etc.

I plan to do a big baby shop in two weekends time can not wait going to bristols kiddiecare and mamas and papas big outlet store as we will be visiting my parents in the south west. Something to look forward too!

Im feeling pretty pants...lower backs Starting to hurt! And that whole realisation that things are just going to get more uncomfortable! and im totally fed up of comments on my bump...had two remarks asking if i was having twins, another telling me my bump looks so fake its that big! And another person telling me how much smaller his wifes bump is...4 comments in one day... I GET IT MY BUMP IS BIG! Stop telling me...its making me worry so much that there is something wrong, im wondering if i should call the mw about? I did my best to do a measure and its at min measures 26cm and at worse 32cm (depending how i measure , this is done when im lying down) im so fed up..im actually having a good cry as we speak.

Apple, people are so rude! Doesn't matter if your bump is big or small or just right, those types will always find something to say about it. Perhaps that man's wife's bump is abnormally small. I know it's hard to ignore but your bump is your beautiful baby growing in you - try to focus on that and not what idiots say. Measuring yourself is wildly inaccurate so don't dwell on that either.

The car seat is reduced from £130 to £27, but is there only one there. But I'm now thinking of just getting a birth-4 one instead, not bothering with one that clips onto the pram chassis. I imagine she'll outgrow the little ones quickly.

I keep toing and froing on stuff like this, can't make any concrete decisions. I am a terrible ditherer sometimes.

Thanks girls! Me and oh keep changing his name slightly but finally came up with a decision!

Try not to let people both you Applecrumble! It's a shame that people can be such arseholes and not think before they speak! Big hugs Hun!

Yes they do grow out of the birth car seats very quick! When it came to buying the next size we bought a 9 months - 12 years car seat and it's so worth the money! Can't wait to buy little mans to match his sisters :-)

Wow that car seat does sound like a bargin..and it fixes onto a pram! See i think a car seat that fixes to a pram is one of the most useful things! Its my must have feature

Thanks girls...I was have dreading coming on hear this morning as i realsie i tend to worry and moan alot and was worried one of you girls would tell me off.:-) but as ever you have been supportive.

Yes the comments are anoying but i do see the plus sides of a comedy bump....everyone know im pregnant so I get alot of consideration from people.offer of lifts, people giving up seats etc...I think the thing that keeps me up at night is the heath risks...is there something wrong? Have i got diabetes? Will give the mw a call today to discuss as its defo getting me down.

Apple speak to ur mw about ur concern of course but i can only see her saying the same...everyine grows differently etc. For ages i have wanted a big bump so i look pregnant rather than just fat and flabby and mine is finally coming on to the point i looked huge yesterday. Embrace it!! Your bump is beautiful i didnt think it looked abnormally large at all i had bump envy!! Anyone else comments just say thank you and change the subject or tell them your baby paid for vip accommodation so its more spacious ;)

Njp thats good about discounts lovely about moses basket :)
I watched a you tube vid demonstrating hauck colt. Looked fab n easy to put together fold down etc.
Anyway went to mothercare and they have the xpedior. In my opinion its exactly the same as the hauck colt in how it is put together and folds down etc. Thats 250. But there is no car seat base for it.
On tesco the hauck colt is 239.95 but says precious little ones so i went on that website where it is the same price free delivery comes with free raincover and they also have the car seat base for only 64 pounds.
Defo think we will get from there and test. We dont NEED the base but with having only 3 doors i think it would be a lot easier for us if we were nipping out anywhere.

Kaa, the Xpedior looks lovely and I was going to get it until I read some reviews and lots of people said that they'd had trouble with stuff breaking and having to get multiple replacements. I saw a Hauck Condor yesterday, the only Hauck I've seen, and it was nice. In terms of quality it's obviously not up there with the £1k ones, but it was good enough and I still have the Lacrosse on my shortlist after seeing a Hauck. If I were you, I'd order through Tesco - good clubcard points there!

Leaning towards the Graco Evo now, without a car seat. Apple, I did think I wanted a car seat that clipped on but I don't think I'll have much need. For short trips out I'm planning to walk with pram and for long trips you can't use a car seat for too long. However, it depends on your needs, I can certainly see them being useful for other situations. Hope you are feeling better this morning, deffo give the MW a call if you are worried.

I am quite stiff and sore today, as I've been out and about a lot for the past two days. I think I have mild SPD but am glad I'm not working, as I think it would be a lot worse if I had to trail around at work all day.

I have a car seat that clips onto the pushchair, it was a must have feature for me as I reckon I'll be doing a lot of driving about. Then im getting the maxi cosi 2 way pearl once he outgrows it. Its a big expense, however I'm planning on reusing all these for any other children we have as its all in neutral colours. Not sure if I could justify the expense if it was just for one baby.
