*** November 2014 Mummies! ***

No idea there either so Yeh perhaps men are better for that (but don't let them hear us say it) ;)

Haha nice one :D have fun!!

I try catching up sometimes and just give in haha xx

Oh god Mellie that's ridiculous cheeky sods!!! U just take what u need and screw them!!

My mom bargainedy car for me. You just have to play hard to get basically. They wanted us to pay an extra £500 for metallic paint. My mom said no, went to walk out and they came running after us and gave it us for no extra cost. :)

It would be a lot easier with amtenatal care if I didn't work such stupid hours. But 6.30-6.30 4 days a week means generally they fall within working hours. And midwives only tend to work a few days a week. Think they just wanted to scare me, which to be fair at first it did. Then I googled it to check if i hadnt just misinterpreted the law and I haven't. So the plan shall backfire on them. Think I'm going to write them a letter so they are aware that I'm not stupid and I have checked my rights. (Will obviously word it totally different to that!)

Yes definitely do that Huni!! Good luck though xx

Putting it in writing is a good idea, as it formally records their wrongdoing on your file. A quiet word was done because they know it is illegal - putting it in writing will make them crap themselves and try to backtrack as much as possible.

I would make it clear in the letter that the quiet word came from your manager not HR direct - I bet they haven't said anything, any decent HR team would know how wrong that was, I bet it was just your manager's tightfistedness, so it'll land him in the shit in the process!

(I know I said I was going to bed, didn't say anything about sleeping yet!)

Honestly Apple if your late you'll be more occupied trying to get baby out rather than wanting to shop for baby bits! I know when I went over I wouldn't move out of the house at all and constantly bounced on my ball for days!!

Congrats on team pink chickadee!!

Would defo recommend trying the pram out in the car.. We only kept our daughters pram (cost over £500 as well) for a couple of months as it was taking up so much of the boot! Fingers crossed this time the boot is a lot bigger to fit the 2 prams in!

They have some good deals on pramcentre! Ours is coming from there and they have an easy pay option which has made it less stressful!

Enjoy your trip Nicejuicypear!!

Anybody know how baby Phoenix is? Haven't heard from her for a while!

Katie..lol...i guess i dont want to be like the lady giving birth outside primark yesterday! So maybe should start on it.

I am really into big brother this year so have been staying up later than usual. Tut tut...its my guilty pleasure.

Oh I know id be mortified if that happened to me!! Strange how she didn't know she was about to push baby out! Me and hubby always joke about taking me asda or something when in labour to get freebies but id be so embarrassed haha!

I thought only brummies would have read about the lady outside Primark.....how stupid of me! Its filthy outside that shop, I would have to be extremely desperate to push there. I'd try and hobble up the road to Marks or Next I think! Haha

Not sure if it'll be my manager or HR, my company tend to do a lot of dodgy things so wouldn't even be surprised if it was HR. But on the bright side my proper manager comes back off long term sick in a few weeks. He's much nicer than the guy we've had covering :)

I know baby phoenix she said she wouldn't be on for a while due to moving. Then she was back for a bit. Pretty sure she said she wasn't going to be on for a while again due to something, totally forgotten what it was though.

Yes it was on loose women and daily mail...yes i would of liked to think i would of struggled to a smarter store..:-)

I do get it mellie, i work for a large uk international firm, and hand on part its the most badly disorganised company i have ever worked for and they are always getting HR stuff lwrong!

It was on Yahoo and BBC too. I read on the BBC that she was playing up to the crowd, so perhaps she liked the attention. I would have thought there would have been a couple of minutes spare to move her to the shop office or at least to a side street where they could have done a bit more crowd control.

I know you can get caught out, however, as my stepson was born in the health centre. My wife went for a check up and was complaining about pains, saying she thought she'd started labour. Her mum said not to bother going to hospital yet because they don't let you in for ages anyway so they went to her already scheduled midwife check up, told the midwife and she had a look and he was on his way out! His older sister had a giant head so they joke that she must have loosened everything up for him to just slide out! :D

Theres plenty of places around the bham primark to hide, thats what I'd have done. Not right on the main street!!

Just had my 20 week scan, had a nightmare getting there took me over an hour to get home from work when it should have taken 25 minutes. Then I had to rush around to get ready, had to pop my moms to pick up the letter for free parking that my godfather was meant to have dropped off. And he hadn't, so had to pay for parking which always annoys me. Oh and 2 idiots nearly crashed into my boyfriend when he was driving us there. So annoying.

But thankfully after all that my sonographer was lovely, she had to poke a bit but not too much which was a nice surprise. Baby is still a boy, and he's perfect, measuring smack on average. :)

oh great news Mellie....

My friend got caught out on the second and ended up being delievered by the dad on the kitchen floor!

I read it in the paper and thought of you mellie, as it happened in Birmingham!

I almost had my daughter in the supermarket carpark, but got to midwife centre just in time - my waters broke at the entrance.... 5 hours later she was born.

The scan went well today and all is OK with baby. A right wriggler... funny to see the kicks on screen and feel them at the same time.

We weren't too worried about getting pictures, as we just wanted to know that everything was going OK.

Growth scan in 2 weeks, as they think he might be big, but we think he was just all stretched out.. show off!! Good strong heartbeat.

So everything is going fine. Apart from the growth scan, don't need to see midwife until 28 weeks as she is happy with everything, unless something comes up beforehand.

Thought ur scan wasn't til tomorrow Mellie sorry Huni. Glad it went well despite the obstacles along the way! :-/

Jasmine that's good u could feel the kicks too :)

Can't wait to get home from work tomorrow night already I'm so tired and wonder if anyone else has a really sore baby belly?? Mine feels really achey :( xx

Sorry girls I'm not "away" for anything in particular, I'm just very tired and the forum's the last thing on my mind! lol. I should have ran the first trimester thread really because I was always on here in first tri!!

Had a consultant appointment two days ago because I have a mental health diagnosis. I brought up wanting a home birth and asked if the fact being consultant led would affect my home birth. She said it was up to the consultant if she was happy with me having a home birth, and she might not be because of my increased risk of PND! Ridiculous, I'm less likely to get PND if I get my birth of choice! Also it's not up to the consultant if I get my home birth, it's up to me isn't it! I hate the way they know it's up to you, but they make it look like you haven't got a choice. They do that with all sorts!

Remember girls, it's always your choice! Found out my cousin had a sweep very early in week 40 of her last pregnancy because she thought she didn't have a choice. Hate that they do this to us! I'm very set on my home birth now unless something comes up where I really do think hospital is the best choice. I will refuse to go into hospital because I know that midwives have to come to me if I don't. I will make that clear if they tell me I can't have my home birth so they're aware!

rest as much as you can baby Phoenix!.. Must admit I didn't know you could ask for a sweep when you want.. I just thought you had to wait until they say so :-/

Thought you'd be at less risk of PND if you want and get to have a home birth. Being at hospital surrounded by unfamiliarity is what I'm dreading the most. My SIL was stuck in hospital for nearly a week post birth, she hated it as all the other new moms on her ward used to glare at her and moan about her daughter crying. I always thought babies were meant to cry?!
Fingers crossed you get to have your home birth. I'd have thought they'd only say no if they thought you'd need a c section or other delivery complications.
