*** November 2014 Mummies! ***

I'm 20 weeks today - wooohoooo! Very excited by this although not entirely sure why this week is different to others! Got my scan on Friday, I am going to have to be very determined to stay team yellow as my husband is desperate to know! I told him that if he brought me a very sparkly eternity ring then I might consider finding out ;-) team yellow it will be!
Sounds like everyone is getting on well and starting to sort Mat B forms etc - suppose I better do it too! Hope everyone is well and not suffering in the sunshine xx

Happy 20 weeks huni :) I'm exactly one week behind you, only reason for sorting this out now is that I teach so when the schools break up in about 4 weeks I finish working (although paid til end aug) so I need to sort now whilst I'm still in school rather than wait til hols, to be honest time is going quite quickly now as it's almost the end of June already!

Yay another team yellow! Hopefully they won't be able to tell anyway due to position of baby and then u won't feel bad for not finding out not that we care that much about our ohs hahaha.

Anyone liking names their oh doesn't and still going with them anyway? In a sort of I'm carrying the baby I get the final decision type way?! Hehe xx

Debs, hi you're due 3 days before me! hope your pregnancy is going well.

Niknak, I'm in the same position as Kaa, in that I need to get it sorted before the end of term, so that's why I'm rushing it through now.

Kaa, yeah I'm getting SMP, good to know it's paid monthly, as I was worried it would come as a lump sum. Not only would this make it harder for me to make it last (!) it would mean I'd be taxed on all of it. I'm putting it off until as late as possible, because then more of it will fall into the next tax year and I won't pay any tax on that bit.

As for clothes, I got some tops from New Look as that's where I tried on yesterday. I'm such a picky clothes shopper though. Don't like a lot of colours, don't like a lot of styles. I then spent ages on every other website I could think of, trying to find something to wear to the school prom in 2 weeks. It has to do for that and also for a wedding 2 weeks before my due date, and I'm really struggling to find anything. I've ordered a couple of dresses from ASOS but I don't actually hold out much hope that I'll like them, I haven't worn a dress since about 2003. I didn't even get married in a dress, but I can't find any smart enough tops to wear to a prom and wedding, that are maternity fit.

Same here. I'm a very boring dresser. Not very fashionable though haha. Only reason I'm looking for dresses is so I can get a bit of a leg tan in summer haha xx

I've brought 2 pregnancy tops so far. Wish I had more as all other clothes just make me look like I've got chubby!
I emailed HR about my maternity leave today, apparently I have to have an informal chat with her once I get my maternity form. Sounds like they're fairly organised fortunately.

Oh yea, a guy at work today said "you're getting fat recently."
Bloody good job I was in a good mood. Otherwise I'd have been MAD!! He knew I was pregnant just thought he'd try and be funny.

Yes the pregnancy tops define the bump, I find. I don't want to buy too many but I've bought one and got another two on the way so I'll rotate them until I finish work, then I won't need much because I can slob about at home and just put the tops on when I have to go out!

I also have a couple of long 'vest dresses' from Primark, they will stretch for a couple of months more yet. They're good over a pair of leggings. they were only £3.50 each, bargain!

I cant wait until I can slob at home. Got to wait until October though I think. Really not sure if I'll last that long. Finding work hard now and I'm not even that big.

I've got 4 and a half weeks! Kind of sad though, because I don't really want to leave my workplace. I do, and I don't. I won't miss the stress and the politics and the hassle but I will miss the people I work with. I've worked there longer than I've worked anywhere, or even attended any school as a pupil.

Have you got any time off to take before October that you can focus on?

Im off next week for 6 days. Then me and my boyfriend both have 2 weeks off in August to decorate the nursery and things. Cant wait for that. Then once I'm 25 weeks I have to stay in the office, which I should be looking forward to. Its going to be boring just sitting there for 12 hours a day. :(
Not surprised you're sad, its never nice to leave when you haven't really had a choice. In a way its lucky it's fell in time with the pregnancy I suppose.

The timing with the pregnancy isn't too bad, as it means I'll be off for a year then the new academic year starts. It could have been worse, if I was due now then I'd struggle to find work to go back to this time next year. I'm trying to see it as the kick up the bum I needed to leave, it was only ever meant to be a stopgap to better job!

Are you doing anything nice next week? I have 4 days owing that I need to take in the next few weeks, was hoping to get a cheap mid-week deal with DW if she ever finds out her shifts.

I can imagine you will be bored staying in the office all the time! I'd rather be busy at work, to make the time go over quicker.

My dog is watching dogs on the animal You've Been Framed special, lol! I can see her ears twitching when she spots a dog on the screen!

Im glad on the timing too due to the start of the next academic year. Just not looking forward to job hunting.
No not got much planned, need to finish the cushions for the nursing chair I got but thats about it really. We keep saying we'll go away and then always end up doing other things. Kind of want to go abroad next year but we'll have to see what baby is like and if money allows.

My dog only gets excited when he hears dogs, he never seems to really look at the tv to notice then. We took him on a little play date yesterday, he had so much fun. Although it did confirm that he is a massive wimp. The other dog was tiny compared to him (she was a cockerpoo, hes a staff boxer) and he was more than happy to let her take charge! One bark and he did anything she wanted! Haha

Aww, haha! Mine is a total wimp. She's scared of other dogs, feathers, snails, bushes blowing in the breeze, the laptop cable, the last is endless. But she does like watching animals on tv.

She's a mummy's girl, too humanised.

I need some more long tops for over leggings as it's all I live in but going to have to invest in some mat leggings soon :-/
I have some tops that define my bump but coz a lot of it is just fat I'm conscious I look more pregnant than I am and ppl will just think wow how fat is she or think I'm trying to make myself look bigger :-/ I'm a paranoid mess ha.

Timing works out really well doesn't it haha. :)
To be honest mellie sitting in an office for 12 hours does sound a bit tedious depending on the work load ur given but come that time u might be glad of it if ur really tired or have and probs (obviously hope u don't but mean with pelvis pain or sciatica etc etc)

Off again today so will do a bit more online mat shopping. Picked out a few baby bits yesterday. We decided in next 2 months (it's all I have left to get paid) we need Moses basket and stand, pram and steriliser - getting that tommee tippee full starter kit for 65. They only other big things we need for now rest I'm hoping we will receive as gifts from our parents hehe. Plus anything like nappies and baby grows we can buy closer to the time as not as much as a pram is it...I hope!! Haha. Xxx

My doggy is a wimp too, scared of vacuums, lawn mowers. Hes even jumped at his own farts before! Haha

Im just not much of an office person I prefer to be up and about, but we'll see how it goes. Scared I'll just sit and eat for 12 hours and get fat!

I tried to write a list of everything we need, it so bloody long! Who knew something so little could need so much.

That would be my worry too :-/ haha

I know it's ridiculous when u consider every single thing. I mean we don't want to go mad with some stuff as I want to try to breastfeed so if that works we don't need hundreds of bottles and all the other stuff but at the same time don't want to rush into buying a breast pump incase I can't breastfeed so there are certain things we just going to hold off on I think xx

I had the same dilemma couldn't decide of I should buy a pump or not. Then my OHs sister produced a new unused one so ive got one now. Its a manual one and if I end up using it lots then I'll probably invest in an electric one as I've got bad hands so dont think the motion would do me any good.
Was then wondering if I should get bottles and stuff but think im just going to wait as I live in the middle of a city so can easily pop to a shop to buy some of breastfeeding doesn't work.

Baby shopping is just a massive mind field. So many products and they try and say you need them all!!

Completely agree... I have no idea whether Im breastfeeding or bottle feeding and whether I will express or not.

I plan to do the research and know what I want to buy should I need to buy it...but will hold off purchasing untill I need them.

Oh that's good then. I have shops all round me so I said to hubby if needs be he can go and get a few bits when and if they're needed like I don'tneed a breast pump straight away coz takes a few days for milk to flow properly I think (from what I read) it's just easier to get everything now but don't want to be stuck with things we don't need. If they've been bought for us fine but we can't afford go out n waste money really.
At least I qualify for smp even if I don't get mat leave so I will get more money October and November then go into the standard 138 a week.

Tell u what though if u sit down and plan financially u would never have a baby. We ended up just saying let's give it a go n if we get pg right now it's fate and lo and behold here we are. Easier to just jump in with 2 feet than keep putting it off for money reasons!! Xx

Oh I have an awkward tmi question for you ladies or tmi to share.

I have the left over of a cold and have odd coughing or sneezing fit... anyway the last couple of weeks, whenever I cough or sneeze I release a little wee... ;-/

Am I on my own in this or do others have similar problem? I am doing my pelvic exercise but the situation seems to be getting worse.

Apple I want to try as it is a natural thing but when u read up there are so many benefits too.
Saves money on bottles formula etc. Less dirty nappies and certainly not as bad as those on formula.
Better nutrients for baby and above all else helps u lose weight faster too!!! :) yay! Haha.

Only downside at the min for me is I heard they're now keeping breast feeders in hospital for a couple days after baby born to make sure they latch on properly and are getting enough milk. I really don't want to stay in hospital I want to go home to my husband as soon as I can I hate hospitals. :-/

I have the same thing hun haha. Maybe we need to speak to our mw about it as can't be good really but oh well ha x
