My BLW journal

Monday 11th April
Seb had porridge fingers this morning and shared an orange with daddy
Snack was skipped for a bottle feed and a nap
Lunch was cheese and onion flapjacks with watermelon to finish (pictures to follow below) the flapjacks were loved and the watermelon absolutely demolished within minutes :D
Snack was rice cake with houmous and a plum always a popular choice!
Dinner was chicken risotto with red pepper, courgette and sweetcorn in it (pictures to follow below) it was his first risotto and the look on his face when he got his hands on it was priceless! :) The red pepper seemed to be a favourite and he's really really got chewing sussed! It's amazing how quickly he's figured it out! Trusting Seb is brilliant and absolutely key!

Tuesday 12th April
Everything is going so well :) Its so easy and I'm absolutely loving it!!!
Breakfast today was a banana and a pear.
Snack was the rest of the cheese and onion flapjacks and cucumber sticks. He was fascinated that DD was there for lunch again! As it's usually just me and him :)
Lunch were tuna croquettes with green beans. Seb and I liked them, DD didn't! Lol! Bloody typical!
Snack was pitta bread with hummus.
Dinner was meatloaf with cauliflower cheese and it went down an absolute treat with the whole family! It was gorgeous! Seb especially enjoyed squishing the meatloaf and sucking it off his fingers! Today we also saw him holding a piece of cauliflower still in his mouth so that he could chew it! It was brilliant to see. He's also really joining in with our conversation now!
His new way of telling us he's had enough is to bounce up and down in his high chair and blow raspberries (the raspberry blowing is his 'i'm tired/bored' noise at the moment) and of course to just push the food away :) the drinking out of a glass is very funny! We're using thick shot glasses (so they won't break) and he can put his hands round them and pick them up and then generally tips it up and covers everything in water :D lots of fun!!!! Lol!

Wednesday 13th April
Breakfast was a banana and banana and oat cereal. Seb gets given a preloaded spoon and the bowl :) we do it before we dress him for the day and he gets so messy! He loves it!
Snack was cucumber today at the parent and tot group I help run and so many people were asking me questions! One girl even said she wishes she had waited and done the same with her little girl as she still struggles with chunks at 18 months old! We met a 7 month old who's mum was staring at Seb in fascination as he ate. He also had some orange that he shared with one of our friends children :)
Lunch was leftover meatloaf from last nights dinner with steamed carrot sticks. It was loved! Again :)
Snack was skipped for a nap
Dinner was beef and broccoli stirfry with noodles :) will include pics below! He loved it so much!!!!

Im still following your journal Hun! i tried the porridge fingers and Tegan loved them! tonight she had the tuna Croquets and really didn't know what to do with them! x

You get 3 tbsp porridge oats (not like ready brek-actual porridge oats) and 3 tbsp milk. Soak together in a bowl until mushy. Press into the bottom of a bowl with the back of a spoon and microwave for 2 minutes in high. Cut whilst warm and serve cool. Seb and DD love them!

ZMD, Seb loved squishing the tuna croquettes and then sucking them off his fingers :)

Thanks hun, will give them a a try when the little man is over 6 months :)

Anytime :)

Thursday 14th April
Breakfast was melon and apple this morning. As usual the melon was wolfed down :) the apple was chewed a bit and spat out! Lol
Today was a strange day and a long one and one that proved to me we're doing the right thing for us. We took DD to Manchester airport on the train so she can spend the next 10 days on the IOM :)() and giving Seb snacks on the train was so freaking easy! He had rice cake with a bit of hard dairylea cheese and grapes on the way down and then pineapple (slight irritation of his eczema but I'm slightly allergic to pineapple too so I was prepared for it) and plum on the way back plus more rice cake :) it also made lunch incredibly easy, he just dug into ours! He had some burger (the restaurant makes them to order so we requested no seasoning), tomato, cucumber, lettuce, Yorkshire pudding, boiled potato and a tiny bit of sausage with no skin on (again handmade at the restaurant so no nasty additives :)) and he loved it all! He also had a bit more pineapple (in fact if I'm honest he had too much pineapple, hence the reaction so it'll be little tastes from now on :))
Dinner was........a bottle :) it was so late when we got home and he was so overtired dinner didn't happen so he's had (and drained) an 8 oz bottle and half of another 8 oz bottle! Lol!

Happy days x

Well today ought to be another day where BLW comes into it's own as I've planned a shopping trip with a friend and then we're all (including Seb) off to an engagement party :) I will probs update tomorrow rather than tonight x x

been away for a week and just had a read. Sounds like Seb's doing fab :)
Doing BLW while away was great too as he just ate loads of yummy fresh produce and basically what we had! Got a few weird looks from local italians to see a 7 months tucking into his grub though, hehe!!!!
Oh and BLW ont he plane was pretty funny!! Feel sorry for the person who has to sit in Owen's seat next, tried to cover up the avocado stains and make a sharp exit,, oops!! forgot plastic sheet for flight *note to self to remember next time!!*

we should start a recipe thread.....

Helen I'm counting on you to help me with all this when its Emily's Turn ;) But can you tell me what TW means obviously ------- weaning?

x

Can't wait to be of some help pinky :D tw is traditional weaning ie spoon feeding/purees!

Minchin that sounds fantastic! Fab times :) that's a good idea for recipe ideas.

Friday 15th April
Breakfast was banana and pear slices. His chewing is getting more and more advanced every day and less is coming back out :)
Snack was rice cake and some melon slices from boots.
Lunch was cucumber, some of my jacket potato and some red pepper slices from debenhams cafe.
Snack was skipped for milk
Dinner was bits and pieces from the buffet-salad, quiche and chicken pieces.

It was brilliant being able to just go out without worrying about what I was going to feed him, knowing I could just give him what I was having :) he was very restless today though, because he's got a wicked cold.

Saturday 16th April
Breakfast was plain yoghurt with fruit. He's enjoying having a preloaded spoon and knows exactly where it goes! Lol.
Snack was skipped for a milk feed.
Lunch was chicken fajitas from TGI Fridays. Seb ate (actually ate) a tortilla wrap, 3 slices of grilled chicken, some cucumber, cheese and had some steak. It was absolutely fantastic to see him just going for it, no muss-no fuss. :D Im one very proud mummy!
We didn't have snack.
Dinner was skipped for a milk feed.
