HOW CUTE!!!!???

OLivia and Ruby LOVED him!!! Ruby even helped aunty Zena to set up Sids hutch

Awww lovely :) Real cutie. I'm sure will be a much loved pet :) I do like rabbits but we can't keep them as we have enough pet wise to be going on with already. I think they make great pets for children though as they can become really tame. We used to have some of ours live in the house also. Used to sleep in the cat bed and in front of the fire in winter

BTW, just a keeper tip in case you are not aware. If you have a wooden hutch for him etc, keep an eye open for red mite infestation in spring/summer/autumn months. They come out at night and suck the blood of the creatures and breed like wildfire. Can actually end up with small animals dying from blood loss over a few nights of red mite attack. Dwarf rabbits being small obviously more at risk from the little critters.

They are tiny brown bugs and will mass in crevices and cracks etc during the day and come out at night. When squished after feeding will be red with blood. Always worth keeping an eye open for as I've known small pets succumb to them :? I've had problems over the years with them as I keep chickens and they are a pain to treat and get rid of from chook housing, hutches and so on.

Rabbits scare me - always look like they want to eat me

Sherlock...is this the case if you buy a rabbit version of the Eglu? i.e. plastic???

Zoe...what a gorgeous bunny! I need one! Tom loves bunnies! xx

Shouldn't be as they tend not to have anywhere to hide on plastic and you can also blast them off with hot water if they do appear. Eglus are pricey for rabbits though. You can get heavy duty plastic cages also now however. Do the same job. Red mite seem to like wood based products but will go where the food is so keep an eye regardless.

Always worth checking for red mite as they go underneath into the base crevices etc and away from light during the day. Nocturnal blighters. But alas can kill a small rabbit or GP or make it very poorly and weak before you discover the problem and treat the hutch. If a rabbit is being plagued you'd probably notice it seems really slow, tired and so on. Maybe off the food. But won't find mites on him during the day. I've seen large chooks die overnight from red mites feeding off them so know it can happen :(

I thought you were asking if it would be the same with a plastic rabbit  :rotfl:
