Ladies doing IUI or IVF - 2016 (11 BFPs so far!)

Ok Lil, sorry, I thought you'd asked in a previous post if it was possible to get an hsg done privately.

Phonix, the consultation is free either by skype or in person. The tests we are all talking about, the hidden infection tests, are done by you sending a sample of menstrual blood to Serum, I can't remember the prices I'm afraid but someone else should be able to update you. If you get a positive they will recommend and aquascan, which can be done in the UK or you can fly to Serum to have it done and possibly a hysto. They have quite a lot of info on their website: http://www.ivfserum.com/

Aww Syd no need to say sorry. Yes I did ask in previous post but after having a proper think about it I honestly don't see it making any difference now, it would just be a waste of money. Thing is where do you draw the line ?, I could go on and on paying for things and still not catch pregnant while I get older and older. I think some things are just not meant to be. Such a shame I never met my OH 20 years ago. I think I am ready to call it quits. This ttc has absolutely drained the life out of me, I need to get myself back. xx

I forgot to say I asked Serum if my partner would always carry the infection as well and I was told yes as it's a chronic infection so men are recommended to repeat these antibiotics every 3yrs as the infection can cause prostate problems. I emailed today asking if women have to repeat the treatment too as presume we would both need to at the same time again. Or if not ttc do we just not bother with the treatment anymore. ?. xx

Hey girls

How much does it cost to get tested at Serum? And for the consultation etc? And how does it work - would I need to have the tests done at my clinic?

It was just over £300? Not sure of exact, I think my bank added on charges for the currency change.
All I did was email them to arrange the tests and filled in some medical history forms, then sent off a sample from Af in the mail.
The antibiotics were only £12. Starting them tomorrow!

Hope you're doing okay xx

Phonix my testing at Serum worked out at £286, it was 300 euros but like xMillie said the bank transfer put a bit more on it. You do the test at home, get a urine sample bottle and put menstrual blood in it then top it up with saline which any chemist will sell, I got mine from Tesco, a little plastic sterile thing with a cut off plastic top, it was 79p. Serum will send you all the information and protocol for the test. x

2more weeks of October and then I'm calling my clinic to sort out a treatment plan for our fet in December (hopefully!)
Something to look forward too!!!

Hi Girls

I am still coping with CP these few days... Just couldn't believe what's happening... The Baby is still inside me right now and HCG kept going up just that is lower than the required number... I am 500HCG (In my 5weeks) and required HCG should be 2000 mentioned by my gynae... But anyway my gynae kept saying it's not going to make it and i have to get it off me soon... Anyone had such similar encounter and would like to share their experience...

So sorry you're going through this May
I have no experience with chemicals

Are they going to keep doing bloods?
Or able to offer you an internal scan in a weeks time?

Hi ladies,

I started the long protocol for my FET with Buserelin (suprecur) injections on Day 21 of the cycle. That was yesterday (21.10.17). I have to inject 0.5ml daily for around 2 weeks and then have to go for a scan. After that scan i'm supposed to continue injecting 0.3lm of buserline for another 2 weeks i believe. Looks like it will be a full month before my transfer. All this waiting is making me an emotional wreck!

Lil that's strange, they said my oh wouldn't need to repeat the treatment. When I fell pregnant in August I had to do another course of antibiotics but my oh didn't. I'm assuming this is because when they tested his sperm for dna fragmentation it was all fine and that's the worry with these infections?

May, unfortunately yes, I do have experience with this. My numbers were all ok in my last pregnancy (August/September) but started to slow down too much. My numbers started at 14 days post ovulation at 70.8, 3 days later they were 198, 2 days after that they were 441, then 908 (at 4 weeks and 6 days pregnant). By the time I was 5 weeks and 4 days they were only 2485. I then had a couple of scans just to confirm there was no development. Your first number was very low, normally a number of under 25 is classified immediately as a chemical pregnancy although a repeat is usually done to check. As your numbers are still going up they should offer you a scan, by 5 weeks you should be able to see the gestational sac and get a measurement. What will probably happen now is that you will miscarry naturally (this happened with my first pregnancy a year ago) or you will need medical or surgical intervention (I had medical intervention this time). I'm sorry you're going through this and hope everything resolves for you soon.

Mrsbass, fantastic that you've started. I promise the time will suddenly speed up - keep us posted!

Millie - so exciting, it's nearly here!

Hayley, really hope you hear soon.

xmillie == thanks for replying, yeap going for some blood test and sono this thursday again... I just had my period a few days back according to the doc numbers will come down really soon... Actually i felt so much better now and excited for the next transfer instead... Just wondering why so much test to do when i am confirmed CP...

Syd43 == Syd thanks for sharing... You really have a good number for your 1st test and so on... I am surprised you ended up in CP.... I can understand how you feel at that moment... I just couldn't understand why they are doing so much test since i had CP... What i felt was they should just quickily move on so we can quickily prepare for the next transfer... Spending endless $$ for blood test and sono which i felt is not necessary now... The gestational sac will not bloat up like a balloon either... I had this feeling like i am wasting a lot of my precious time by spending a lot of $$ on tests & sono and actually you know the result is CP... Do you had this feeling too??

May, I have my fingers crossed for you on your next transfer xx

I'm scared of going through the FET myself.. really hoping we catch before January so I don't have to go through it. :(

Hi May, it wasn't a CP, we saw a yolk sac and I miscarried at almost 8 1/2 weeks. I've had two of those (although no yolk sac on the first one) and two CPs. My first number of 70 wasn't all that great, closer to 100 would have been better so honestly I had a bad feeling about the pregnancy right from the start. Unfortunately even with a baby that's not developing the numbers can still go up so tests get darker. You're right, it does feel like wasting time, all you can really do is have a scan and see what's happening. Are your bloods still going up? At what rate? You do hear the odd story of people that have problems with blood levels at the beginning but then things turn out ok which is why you wouldn't have medical intervention until you've had one or two scans and are absolutely sure it's not viable. It's a horrible, horrible time just waiting, I feel for you x

Sorry mrsbass, never taken it.

I had my aquascan at Serum yesterday to check all ok after my miscarriage, which it was. It's now about 3 weeks since the miscarriage and he could see that I had a double ovulation this month, made me feel sad that we weren't able to try as I've been in the UK although natural pregnancies never end well for me so it's probably just as well!

Millie, you never know, the antibiotics may do the trick for you!

10 days in.. so 15 days of antibiotics left to go.. feels never ending!

I got terrible headaches and felt very lethargic on buserelin. I just made sure I drank loads of water and I think my acupuncture helped but it was more a case of just waiting it out. Once you start stims, it gets easier xx

Xmille -- Dont be afraid... I am going through my next FET too after the scan today.... lets pray for the best!!!

Syd43 -- Have you heard of low blood levels and turns out well later on?? I dont know if i am the lucky one... Anyway going for scan and blood test now... Will keep you girls an update...
