Ladies doing IUI or IVF - 2016 (11 BFPs so far!)

Hi ladies, AF arrived last week. I was too upset to post.
I had all the symptoms from the first successful IUI, but at 8 DPO all my symptoms disappeared. I stopped going to the gym because I thought it would help and instead I've gained 5lbs, all for nothing. Grrrrrrr
I'm now onto my 4th cycle of treatment.

Very best of luck 20percent, good for you for pushing it with the clinic.

I'm so sorry mrsbass.

thanks Syd. After 4 days of stimulations I have one egg on the right side which doesn't have a blocked tube ready to go. It's 19mm so the nurse gave me the trigger shot this morning. She said the egg will be lost if we wait any longer. I go for the insemination tomorrow. This is unusual for me because o normally need 7days of stimulation injections to get my eggs to grow. This month AF lasted 7 days and not the 5/6 days per usual. Not sure if this is the reason I've responded quicker to the drugs.

Had to call dh and get him to take an emergency morning off work lol. Fingers crossed this time it works!

So sorry mrs bass, hope this next try works. Fingers crossed x

Thanks @xMilie. I went for the insemination today. I noticed that I havent felt any ovulation pains so I asked the nurse and she said the trigger shot works to get me ovulating 12-48 hours.

Hope everyone is doing ok x

Had our treatment plan today. Thought we'd have to do blood and urine samples again but apparently not. They just weighed me and said they no longer need partners weight. Not sure if that's a second cycle thing or what. Had to re-fill in forms due to the name change. But other than that very short visit.

We're all good to start in April! Just need to phone on first day of period.

Found out the amh results too and I feel so much better knowing its actually 34, so I guess the low reserve was suspected or just guessed?
So glad to find out the eggs are there. Will be on short protocol again but a higher dose from the start.

Also found an acupuncturist who is zita west affiliated/trained close-ish by so contacted them.

Hopefully this will be our time!
Feeling pretty good for the first time in a long while :D

Hi ladies,

Thanks Syd :)

Great news Millie! Fab AMH result, sending u positive vibes for April!

Sorry to read ur news Mrs Bass but fingers crossed for this time!

So, scan on Tuesday was awful, egg had only grown 1mm in 3 days, taking it up to 9.5mm. The other was still only 6mm. :(

I was pretty much at the point of giving up but it was Day 14 and I don't usually ovulate till days 18-21 so we agreed to one more scan today.

2 little eggies are now both over 14mm!!!!! :D First cetrotide today, another scan tomorrow and egg collection mayb Monday as they think I may have eggs that grow all at once just before ovulation.

There's no knowing what kind of quality they may b but they r going to achieve the size needed for egg collection it seems so having finally got my head around the fact I will probably never have a baby of my own I'm back in the game! :)

I'm sure u all already do but I would absolutely advocate fighting for what u believe your body is doing....if I had gone along with the clinic cancelling the cycle again these eggs would have been missed. I know it could've gone completely the other way and the eggs could have never grown but I just felt I needed to know for sure. The clinic have been brilliant and so patient with me and the dr was so pleased with today's results for me. A happy day! :D

Wishing you all happy days like this too! :)

Xx

Hi ladies, just catching up

I feel acupuncture definitely helped me although DH doesn't agree lol.

Millie and 20% - that's fab news!

May - you stand a much better chance with IVF - wish I'd gone straight for it and skipped the IUIs

Syd - I did get a lot of spotting after my first IVF, I think it was something stupid like 9 days before AF. The clinic didn't seem too bothered and I don't think it happened after my frozen cycles (or at least not as bad).

As for me, I did manage to get my weight up but somehow it's gone down again (by a good few pounds) so I'm going to have to go to my GP to find out why as I've been eating loads. I saw the dietician this week and she said I'm eating well. My consultant now thinks I may also have IBS and endometriosis so I'm going to have a laparoscopy. My friend has IBS too and is looking to go to an allergy clinic and I'm thinking about going with her. I honestly don't know what is wrong with me.

Hi! Just wanted to say that my friend who is 44 is now pregnant from donor eggs! She had 2 miscarriages and skipped normal Ivf due to her age. Hope that might be encouraging. I keep checking on here to see if there are any more Ivf bfps! :dust:

Hope everyone is ok.

My normal pre-af spotting has started so I'm out again this month. Have pmt from hell this week, rage like never before. I assume this is another delightful ivf-after affect...

Hi ladies,

So sorry to hear that Syd :( Do u have a next course of action plan or is it too soon to think about it yet? Thinking of you.

I finally had my egg collection today, two eggs but one didn't make collection, the second has also turned out to b poor quality and has collapsed before even getting as far as defrosting the spunk. Not a great day:(

On to next month.

We need someone to have some good news soon! Sending u all lots of luck and baby dust xx

Hi Ladies, hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread...I'm starting my ivf soon.

Syd, firstly, sorry to hear that. Such a horrible feeling, do you have a plan from here on or having a break?

So I have a question ya'll... I am starting my first cycle of IVF beginning of April (AF due Monday 3rd) and have the contraceptive pill to take when they tell me to start it and I make that first call on day 1, but they mentioned something about a baseline scan. Do any of you know when this takes place and what for? I only ask as I have a work thing to attend from 3rd - 5th April down south which means that when I call them on the first day of my af and they tell me what to do with my pill, if they then say they want me to go in within those few days for a scan or anything I wont be able to go. If I know there is a chance that will happen though I'll try and get out of going. I was under the impression that you make the call on the first day and they tell you what to do but that you don't actually go in again until you get on the more hard core drugs lol...! But any advice on the general plan of action from that first day would be gratefully received!

Syd, I'm sorry to hear that :(

20percent, so sorry that it didn't work out. We def do need some good news here soon

1sttimer, of course we don't mind x
I'll be starting my second in April! Not sure when yet as still waiting for this months af, cd29 today grr.

I have no idea what the scan is called but on our first round I had to have a scan on cd1 (of full flow, not spotting) was told the scan must be done before day 3. Do you know what protocol you will be on? I was on short protocol so have no idea if first scan is different for long protocol.

Yep Millie's scan was the baseline scan.

I had a 20 day cycle last month and am still losing weight, plus I've got a constant cold, not sure what's going on! Had cramps from hell again as well and acne too. I really hope he goes ahead with the lap and that it finds something, I can't go on like this. Seems like my hormones are really messed up but maybe there is something else too! Got GP this Friday to discuss my weight and hospital on 29th - seems so far away, argh. Xx

Hi ladies, 4th iui failed. I'm devastated. I've been crying into DHs shirt all morning and cried myself to sleep :(
I'm 38 now, scheduled to start the IVF process in June. I'm contemplating skipping IVF and going down the surrogacy route. Or doing a combination of paying for a surrogate and trying IVF to see who becomes pregnant first. Me or the surrogate.

HI xMillie, thanks for that. That's so weird because today I had just a general scan (just to check nothing's changed in the last year) and the nurse said all that will happen when I call in on day 1 is that they'll tell me to start the pill but nothing more until they get us in for drugs teaching? So I wonder why you had one then?? I have no idea whether long or short..I have a treatment plan how do you know which is long and which is short? x

PS. hope af arrives for you soon! ;)

Phonix, that's so weird. I hope the docs will have some answers about your weight. Time does move so slow I know :( but hopefully your appointments are here before you know it

Mrsbass, I'm so sorry :( hopefully ivf will work out for you x

1sttimer, Short is done over around 4 weeks and Long is 6 weeks I think?
AF came over the weekend so on route to ivf now
hoping to start April 10th or probably just a little after depending on how long this cycle wants to drag out...

Hi ladies,

Just popping in to say hello and see how you're all getting on.

Mrsbase I'm so sorry. I would definitely give ivf a go yourself first, especially if the clinic are happy to try.

Helen sounds like it's all starting soon for you. I phoned on day1 of my cycle and was just to have safe sex until day 21 and that's when I went back. If you return on day 21 then you're probably long protocol, it starts on day 21 and lasts 6 weeks, short protocol starts on CD1 and lasts 4 weeks.

Are you doing long Millie?

I had the prostap injection last Tuesday to begin downregging, I felt fine until yesterday when I started having bad cramps nausea and headache. Not hot flushes although I'm not sleeping great. Still nothing too bad! Brown spotting today so I'm sure my period will be here tomorrow or Wednesday. I go back to the clinic next Wednesday for more bloods a scan and I'll begin the daily injections the following day. Egg collection so far is scheduled for the 3rd of April all being well. I finish up work on the 2nd of April for 17 days too, feel so much better I won't have the stress of work to worry about!

Miss chatting to you all ladies xx

MrsS, good to see you around, I'll be on short protocol as they found my amh is 34, but they'll be uping the dose right from the start this time. Seems soooo long away til I start but it's only a month! :)

Good plan to take the time off, I hope everything runs smoothly. x

Acupuncture all booked :D

Spoke with her over the phone she seems nice, really hoping this will help
ahhhh who even knows
