Ladies doing IUI or IVF - 2016 (11 BFPs so far!)

Good luck today xMillie!! Let us know how it goes.

Leah how are you feeling? Have you spoken to the clinic about your positive result, what's the next step?

Had my scan yesterday, it was amazing in that we saw a little heartbeat flickering away, so I was totally shocked and relieved but they've also said there is rather a large bleed underneath the baby which could signal that things are about to go wrong or it could just go away. I've got to keep taking the progesterone and go back in 2 weeks so they can keep an eye on it. But I'm taking that as positive for now as we're now officially further on with this pregnancy than the last so hoping the addition of a progesterone boost might just make the difference.

Millie, best of luck today! I quite enjoyed egg collection, in the sense I had lovely sedation then lots of lovely cups of tea with biscuits :)

My scan yesterday showed I have the triple stripe in my lining (or whatever the term is) and it's 11mm and my follicle is 19mm so I triggered there and then, IUI at 4pm today. Had a quick chat with the embryologist on the phone yesterday, partner's sperm showed reduced mobility when it was defrosted last time apparently which is why we had icsi rather than ivf so I'm slightly concerned about that but it will be what it will be at this stage.

I did find out this week that, contrary to what they originally told me, my insurance will fully cover donor egg IVF as well as "standard" IVF. I'm totally open to donor eggs but just don't think my OH will agree. Will have to have that conversation if this fails.

Hi Syd, that's amazing news about your insurance! Do you feel it takes the pressure off this IUI a bit as its a further option or not? Try not to worry about the motility although that's easier said than done.

Good luck today!

Thanks 1sttimer. Not really as the pressure for me is all about my age (45) and having to come back to the UK for treatment (you can't have IVF in Hong Kong unless you're married). I'm almost positive my OH won't agree to donor eggs but still good to know the option is there :)

Hope everything is going well Millie!

Helen, sorry I totally forgot your scan was yesterday. So glad you got to see your little baby, I so hope the bleed goes away and doesn't cause any problems. I have everything crossed for you!

I've contacted the clinic to say I've had positive tests so from now I just wait on a scan date. It looks like it will be around the 8 week mark. I hope my anxiety holds out till then!

Fingers crossed for you syd. Sounds like everything your end looked good so hopefully your OHs sperm defrosts well! That's brilliant about the insurance too. I really hope you don't need it but it's reassuring that you have the option there. I think donor eggs is really such a fantastic thing! Will your OH discuss is furthet with you? Xx

Thanks Leah. If this fails I'll bring it up but I'm pretty sure I know what he'll say.

1sttimer, so sorry I missed that about your scan, great news re the heartbeat - having lost two myself I can't even imagine what it would be like to see that. I've seen so many people say they have that bleed and it just goes away, definitely good reason to stay positive.

Will have a proper read of the other posts when I'm more with it lol
But thanks for the well wishes ladies :)

Good news is we got 12 eggs and double the sperm :D
So we've got a good chance hopefully *fingers crossed*

Sedation did not go too well, I fully woke up part way through in so much pain, thankfully didn't take long for them to get me back out of it!
They tried a dummy run of transfer to confirm what is best and it is sedation either Monday or weds, we'll see :D

Oh god Syd/Leah don't worry about that at all I just thought I'd put an update on because I said I would!... Syd, I don't think I knew your full story re. the situation with you being in Hong Kong etc so I hope you didn't think me insensitive. The donor thing is such a tough subject now, more so even because the anonymity has gone out of it...but I really still think it is just the most incredible thing and has provided so many lovely babies for people. I really considered being a egg donor when we were talking about IVF, it's invaluable to someone and never ever has to cause a problem. It's all in how you approach it I suppose. A big decision though. Keep working on him...its a womans prerogative after all ;)

Millie, that's awesome, 12 is amazing!! Leah didn't you have 12? Keep us posted on how they do! Everything crossed. x

Oh no, sorry you had to go through that Millie! Fx you get a nice number of fertilised eggies.

Update from me - I finally had my consultation today. Looking to start downreg when my af starts. Issue is I've been spotting for the last 3 days, af is due sometime next week :/ starting to think it may be IB. I'm slightly frustrated tbh, nothing is just straightforward.

You weren't insensitive at all! Don't worry :)

Millie, that sounds awful. 12 eggs is great though.

MrsLaw, glad you had your consultation. My af started messing around as I was starting ivf, so frustrating.

That's a great result Millie, well done :) so sorry about the sedation though, how awful. I'm glad they resolved it quickly!

I've heard a few people say AF messes them around just before IVF. I hope the witch starts behaving!!

I'm really worried about stopping the progesterone after tonight. It's making me so anxious and worried :( xx

8 fertilised! :D
Weds should be transfer day but they will call on Monday to let us know how things are going!

Great news Millie!

Leah, will they not continue it now you have your bfp?

Thanks :D It's a much better result than before, hoping things go well!

I thought you had to continue progesterone til 12 weeks if pregnant?
Unless different clinics say different things?

That's brilliant Mille, so pleased for you!!

No if it's a fresh cycle you only take them until testing day then stop whether positive or negative. All I kept reading last night was people taking them up to 12-14 weeks with a positive test. It's made me worry so much I was in tears this morning! I phoned the clinic and spoke to a nurse and she said that's their protocol and my body should be naturally producing enough now on its own. I'm just so so anxious xx

Great result millie.. fingers crossed everything goes smoothly from here! Sorry to here about your sedation experience, how awful! I'm glad they noticed and got you back under quickly xx

MrsS, I would be feeling exactly the same as you re progesterone! With my 2nd IVF (at a different clinic), I got given 12 weeks' worth of progesterone. But my usual clinic only supplies til about 5 or so weeks. Which presumably means it's fine, but still nerve wracking! Hope it goes well for you xx

I think my clinic said 12 weeks if a bfp. I would definitely ask them to test your levels. I'm sure it will be fine but it'll put your mind at rest.

It does seem very early to stop doesn't it? I'm definitely phoning my GP on Monday for an emergency app and asking for a blood test. Feel like that's all I can really do xx

I guess if you're clinic does it for only 2 weeks all the time then it's most likely fine right
But good idea to go get a blood test and see what your gp thinks

That's what I'm trying to tell myself Millie. They do this with everyone on a fresh cycle so I'm sure if it causes a problem they would know by now! This is day 2 without it and so far everything seems to still be fine xx
