July 2017 mummies to be.

I know alot of people think that reusables are a faff but they are really easy and you dont have to worry about running to the shops if you run out.
My son has sensitive skin and we used a disposable once and he had the worst nappy rash ever. We never had any rashes with reusables. And if he was going through a heavy wetting stage i just added an extra insert or use bamboo ones which seemed to absorb more.

I have been diagnosed with spd and sciatica. I only have 3 weeks left at work then a weeks holiday till my maternity leave starts so i dont want to go on the sick as i can't afford to be on half pay for 4 weeks but the pain is killing me right now

I feel for you, I have always suffered with sciatica and it has got a lot worse during pregnancy, it can be agony sometimes.

At least you only have 3 weeks.. I'm not finishing until mid-June x

Yeah i think i can cope for 3 weeks. Which is really only 13 days as i dont work weekends.

Is there anything that helps with the sciatica? find staying still helps but then my spd feels worse so can't win either way.

Sciatica is the f***ing worst. I found that staying still helped in the short term, but was told repeatedly (and I did find it to be true) that constant, gentle movement was the thing that actually improved it. Don't lift anything - at one point, lifting a cup of tea was even too much for me. Take paracetamol, it's better than nothing.

If possible, get referred to an osteopath by your GP asap. I didn't for ages, thinking that it would go away, but it stuck around for 3-4 weeks and I could have been seen in that time.

Oh, and if you aren't already, sleep with a pillow under your knees. I was sleeping on my back then though, which I presume you can't do anymore.

Yep, I now sleep with a pillow between my knees (which I always end up losing during the night! The pillow not my knees! :) ) it does help a little but I'm finding getting comfortable at all a real struggle at the moment! I used to always just sleep on my back but I don't think it's recommended.. x

Ugh sleeping is awful at the moment! So bloody uncomfortable :wall2:

I have my dream genie from last pregnancy and it's doing bugger all!

I still haven't bought anything myself, but I have started making stuff. Here is my first batch of dribble bibs....if I've attached the file properly....

Thank you! My Mum makes wedding dresses for a living, so this seems like small fry by comparison!

If anyone fancies giving it a go, the tutorial I used was very good:

I recommend using a sewing machine though, otherwise you might go insane. But then, some people actually like hand stitching!

Any other suggestions for simple things to make? I found a great dinosaur romper suit pattern, but I don't think I'm up to that...yet.

I've just signed up to a camping trip... On the 28th June (I'm due on the 22nd July. Must be mad

I'm rubbish at sewing! lol.. my mum has a sewing machine but I wouldn't know how to use it!.. I'll see if she fancies giving it a go for me :) A family friend is currently knitting us a little bunny teddy which is really cute, I love stuff like that xx

Ooh your mum makes wedding dresses? I bet that's amazing to do as well as hard so much fabric haha I have a question for her if you'd not mind passing it on? Can a zip wedding dress be changed to a corset lace up style? I always wondered and at our 5 year anniversary want to do our handfasting ceremony :) so I'd like my dress revamped a bit xxx

It would totally depend on the style you went for, but in theory there's no reason why not, especially if you don't mind adding fabric on that won't totally match. Sounds amazing - although I have to admit, I had to google 'handfasting ceremony' :D

Haha a lot of people are like what's a handfasting I have to explain then but it's something I've always wanted to do and I don't mind it's an A line dress I love it but I wasn't happy with our shop who did the stitching they didn't do it properly so my zip broke my mum had to fix it for me and they said they'd sew the train after taking some off they never did so it was frayed :( I want to dye the bottom sunset colours too xxx

That's awful! I swear, 90% of Mum's work is actually alterations from when shops have ordered dresses that don't fit the brides properly or have some huge flaw, and they don't bother to sort it out.

Your mum must get so frustrated and pissed off because it's not done right first
Time around. It really upset me and if not for my mum sortin it I'd of been screwed for it the Saturday and I was married the Monday so no time to get it all sorted short notice plus anyone who has to do it last minute how much work that is for a seamstress!! Xxx
