July 2017 mummies to be.

I read that on the post aswell about it only being as shot of hot water. We managed just fine making bottles for Riley so i don't see why we would need a perfect prep.

Oh Aurora, I bet the scan will be amazing! let us know what it was like!

I have bought a perfect prep and glad I have even if It just gets me through the early stage.. I don't think they have actually confirmed it's mould, there are many who's machine's are 'mould' free and I think a lot of those with an issue could be due to not using the correct filters.. I'm sure Tomme Tippee will rectify any issues if they are at fault so we'll see.

xx

What have your midwives been like? I'm curious because mine hasn't been very useful so far, saying that she'll happily answer any of my questions but then only gives vague answers. She just seems interested in taking the measurements, filling out my book and then we're done. Can I actually expect to get some advice soon on things like when I should be planning a birth plan, or just be given any sort of information about what's to come?? Or are you expected to ask all the questions? I just kind of imagined that they'd be telling me that x is a good time to look into this, y is probably s good time to decide on this.. I know it's still early but then we're not long approaching a time when we could go into very early labour! I will see what she's like at my next appointment in a few weeks and then I may have to start being proactive about the stuff I need to research!

I had the vague answers due to my bmi in short I was fat shamed because I'm a bit heavier this time round I told her it was unacceptable and if she continued I'd complain funny it stopped after that. But honestly Hun is just say to her you'd like to talk about your birthing plans and other things in general if she continues to not really answer I would complain it sounds horrible but you want to know stuff and you should be able to get answers from your midwife xxx

We've not really covered anything like that either yet, I think she said at our next appointment we'll start discussing things in further detail. I also feel I don't get much of an opportunity to ask any questions, mine was running late last time and I was pretty much rushed out!

I'm being case studied by a trainee midwife now which is good as I can ask her anything and she does everything properly!

Maybe speak to her about how you feel but you're not alone xx

July and Michelle is this your first baby? I was just thinking cause my midwife is happy to chat now about stuff to do with birth etc but could be I'm a second time mum? Definitely discuss breastfeeding if you plan to cause you can go to antenatal groups etc now :) xxx

Ah yeah that was another example of something that I thought would have been covered. It is my first baby yeah. She may be good at the next appointment and will simply wait until a certain time to make recommendations to me. I hope so. The whole experience so far has been so hands off, I never imagined you'd be left to your own devices for so much of pregnancy.

I've had a lovely midwife so far, but yes, she's very vague. I ask specific questions based on as much research as I am able to do with only the internet to help me, but haven't had anything really definite from her. One example - I swam a lot when ttc, doing about 2k at a fast rate three times a week. I reduced this when I got the BFP but my Mum still thought I was pushing myself far too hard. I asked the midwife about max heartrates etc and her reply was 'just be sensible'. I have no real idea what that means!

So far everything has been led by me - which is good, I suppose, as I feel like I'm in charge of this thing. It seems very different from my Mum's experience 30 years ago though.

In terms of birth plan, according to my hospital's website that won't he discussed until 36 weeks (!) I guess if you go into labour before that, your choices are limited by what's medically necessary.

Yes first time mum here too, I too have been surprised at how much you are left to just get on with it. I just research anything I want to know online, you get a lot more info that way! I always feel like I'm being rushed out. The only plus is you get more midwife appointments when it's your first, I had one on Monday and I'm back again next Monday.

I just picked up one of those free bounty mum-2-be packs from boots, was rather disappointed to be honest, thought you'd get more little travel sized bits which would have been handy, but you only get 3 nappies, a couple of panty liners and some Milton tablets! Most of it is leaflets.. can't complain, it was free I suppose! xx

4d scan was amazing. We even saw baby in hd for a few minutes. As usual baby was very camera shy and was covering his face with his hand for most of the scan. Hes not played ball at any scan i've had so far so knew this wouldn't be any different.
Still got loads of pictures and a usb stick.
Baby is currently 1lb 10oz and on the 50th centile for most mesurement apart from his femur length so i think hes going to be tall like his Daddy

I suppose that makes sense CNM.

Great news Aurora. I hadn't really thought I'd like the idea of that but it sounds amazing being able to see them in that much detail.

So I lost my temper today. Went to a coffee morning and the girl who hasn't left my son alone decided to pick him up and try and take him into the hairdressers bit the woman in there undressed him at 5 months old and accused me of hurting him when she was my friend and I just lost my shit screamed at her in public and told her what I thought of her and got him off her and we left I've now had numerous texts off her parents and though I've blocked them they keep harassing me so I've had to call police now military and civilian I didn't need this today so yeah publicly made a show of her and everything she began crying and I even said I'd warned her and told her before and just left. I hate this place :( xxx

They will now hopefully but I really did go off on one which isn't like me I'd just had enough today xxx

Violet, it's a shame it had to come to that but She has clearly been asking for it!

My belly is so uncomfortable today, feels very tight and achy.
Im also super emotional at the moment, crying all the time! It doesn't help that I'm constantly worrying, not feeling much is driving me mad

x

Aww Hun :( big hugs, I've had the same tight feeling in my bump too but don't worry on movement too much it'll ramp up soon don't forget baby has an anterior placenta xxx

Violet, that's nuts. I'm glad you exploded - sometimes you have to match extreme behaviour in order for people to listen. Urgh.

Has anyone experienced Mush? It seems to be a Tinder-style thing for making Mum friends.

Thank you Hun, I feel a bit better today, im sure LO has been kicking about in there this afternoon, early afternoons seem to be his time for a kick about then he goes quiet again!

My belly still feels so tight, it's so uncomfortable, I can't imagine how I'm going to feel when I'm huge!

How is everyone's weekends going? Xx

I bought a baby bjorn carrier second-hand, I can't believe how expensive some of these things are new!

Our Silver Cross Pioneer arrived on Monday, it's sooo nice, very very happy with it, it's feels sturdy, really nice to manoeuvre and it's so easy to fold/unfold and take all the bits on and off. I was however surprised at how heavy the car seat was! Even without a LO in it! I've never really lifted any car seats so maybe I was just naive and thought it would be lighter or I'm just really weak! lol

It's exciting though, I can't wait to get out and about with him in it :)

So far I've spent £760 on slings.........

And I've my eye on one more, I have an addiction!!

My friend swears by a covered jug with cool boiled water in the fridge

Make up the bottle with boiling kettle water and then add the cool boiled afterwards to the right temp. No faffing with bottle cooling and milk is made with hot water so all safe and correct
