**********january 2016 mummies**********

Oh riccy what a day! Is Olly speaking to you yet?

Cheeky baby you've got there SAHF. You'll need to get on the exercises to get them to move!

Definitely cheeky! They were head down for a good few weeks.

Midwife has suggested, if baby turns in time, that I go for a home birth. I would like a home birth, but I'm also worried that something would go wrong if I went for one.

Bet you can't wait for Thursday Kelly! I gutted a lot of the house early on but surprise surprise the stuff I need hubby to help with hasn't been done yet!! It's only gutting the high kitchen cupboards but I've asked him for so long I've given up now! Once Xmas day is over we need to take the decorations down and put the travel cot up in the living room then rearrange our room a bit and move the cotbed in.

SAHF are you far from the hospital if something did happen? I'm guessing they'd get an ambulance anyway. I think a home birth would be great, much more relaxing in your own surroundings. You would just need to research it and weigh up the pros and cons for your own situation but if it's something you'd like then definitely go for it, if baby plays ball of course!

Well, this is the thing. We live 35 minutes drive roughly from our hospital, and as neither me nor OH drive, we'd be relying on his mum to take us. That's fine - but I have anxiety and have been getting quite anxious about the hospital making us come home then go back later, especially as his mum would just drop us off opposed to sticking around. Which is why the midwife thinks it would be better for me and baby to have a home birth if they do turn the right way, because she doesn't think the hospital will let me stay if we get there too early. She mentioned an ambulance would be called if need be that would get there very quickly, but it does worry me being so far.

Another option is a birthing centre which is more homely and wouldn't turn me away if we arrived too early. But it all depends on what baby decides to do! I'm so confused right now tbh, the last thing I expected to hear today was that baby was in the breech position. My head is full and I don't know what to think or plan or consider! Part of me wonders if it'd just be easier to have a c-section if they stay in breach, but then I don't know how I'd manage with the recovery!

We've got a scan on Christmas Eve, the only free appointment between now and January. It'll be nice to see baby on Christmas Eve but it means I have over a week of not knowing what's going on and I have no idea what will happen birth wise. Just want to cry! :( It gives me even less time to think about what to do if baby is breech.

How we all doing ladies?

I got the first of my two steroid injections today (bloody sore), back tomorrow for the other and to sign consent forms. It's almost time for me to meet these babies of mine :)

Hey girls, just checking in on you all.
Not long to go now...Can't wait for more news on deliveries.

Cormac is doing well, has started to take more oral feeds than tube feeds. We had resigned ourselves that he wouldn't be home for xmas, now looks like it may be a possibility if he continues at this pace.
We are exhausted travelling to the hospital, up to pump 4 times per night to keep supply up, and trying to manage the other boys. We won't know what to do when the running stops.

I'm.... I don't know, ha! Feel like I'm in limbo not knowing whether baby is 100% in breech or not, and not knowing what my options are until our scan on Christmas Eve.

Been looking into c-sections which is my most likely option now. A friend who had one said she had to stay in hospital for 5 days, which I hate, hate, hate the idea of!

Do you know how long you'll be made to stay in Lols?

Aw you will know soon.

Well the consultant said 2-3 days but it just really depends on my health. If I'm in more than 2 I'm in for Christmas.

I always just thought you'd be out and back home after 24 hours if you had a scan, so I'm quite nervous thinking about up to 5 days in there.

Hopefully you'll be home for Christmas :)

I think there's a possibility you may need a catheter in for a short while after a section and also depends on how the babies are too I suppose. The good thing for me is I've to be in for 7am on Tuesday for my section and they should prioritise me so hopefully delivery is early morning.

I was kept in for 2 nights. I was pretty healthy & mobile from day 1 after op I guess it just depends on situation x

aw Tillie that sounds tough, fingers crossed he's home for christmas, sounds like it'll be easier for all of you when you don't have to keep travelling so far

we're 37 weeks today, full term yay! off to visit family this weekend so hoping that she holds off till monday then she can come whenever she likes- within reason, i don't fancy still waiting in 5 weeks time !

I know it'll be a case of being kept in as long as I/baby needs, but I've never had to go for hospital for anything before in my life except my scans through this pregnancy. I wouldn't mind at all how long they'd want me to stay if my OH could stay with me, because of my anxiety, but knowing he'll only be allowed there during visiting hours is kinda freaking me out!

I can only imagine how elated you will be having both of your babies in your arms on Tuesday morning! Hope it all goes to plan for you lols.

Aww girls I'm so sad today.
Got up this morning and Ollys bunnys back legs are paralysed :-( had to have little Blue put to sleep. He hasn't asked to see her today, not quite sure how I'm going to explain. Poor bunny must have been in so much pain, it wasn't fair keeping her alive. I'm just feeling a bit deflated :-(

Xxx

Well I'm just back from my final check from hospital, they went over everything in relation to the section with me, checked my urine and BP and listening into baby's hearts on a doppler; they said they will put a catheter in when I go in for the section first and I'll probably have it in overnight. Also said I'll probably get home after two days, if babies need to stay in longer I'll be discharged home without them, which I hope doesn't happen. No food or liquids from the night before but to take one of my rataddine (sp) the morning of the op with only enough water to swallow to stop me being sick during the op.

Oh no how sad poor thing x

SAHF I've never heard of partners only being allowed in at visiting times? My hubby will be allowed in whenever he wants (within reason) but others are only allowed in at visiting times. I'm hoping hubby will be in by about 10am and be there until 8/9pm.

Tillie that's fab news about Cormac, fingers crossed he keeps improving and is home for Christmas!

Riccy so sorry to hear about poor bunny. Hopefully Olly will understand however you decide to tell him. Having pets can be so hard at times.

We're officially on countdown, I only have 10 days left of being pregnant :) hubs is finished work at lunchtime on Xmas eve until 18th January so really looking forward to spending our last few days together just the two of us.

I think I'd much prefer them putting in a catheter before the c-section, especially if I have already been given an epidural/local anaesthetic.

Sounds like you're all set to go! Hope you used your last weekend wisely ;)

My friend who gave birth in Nottingham and had a c-section was only allowed her partner in with her during visiting hours. And even if my OH is allowed in all day, it's the night time I'm worried about as I have bad anxiety and I have never stayed in hospital before. The thought of him not being there at night - added to the fact we haven't spent a single night apart in 4 years - makes me really, really anxious!
