***** January 2015 Mummy's *****

Well after professing to be feeling more energised / less tired I have had two nights of absolutely terrible sleep (hourly waking for one reason or another) and I now have a toothache - well actually it's a gum ache [wisdom tooth, probably infected - I got loads of these infections when pregnant with James!!]

Feeling like utter crap, which is such a shame as I love this time of year normally.

Have noticed that I can only sleep in one position otherwise heartburn keeps me awake. Everything barring the most plain food (think slice of toast) is giving my HB at the moment as well. I must remember to stock up on Rennie's and Gaviscon when I nip to Boots.

Nat getting gaviscon on prescription was the best thing I decided to do this pregnancy!!! They prescribe the gaviscon advance rather than the normal bottle and it's something like £8.50 per 300ml and they prescribe 2x that- I try and use it sparingly but it's the only thing that works now- when I ran out I had to buy some and opted for the normal bottle and it did absolutely nothing!

Hairy babies??!! X

I'm at Dr's next Tuesday anyway so I'll see if they can prescribe me some (doesn't help now though? and as we have moved I am actually quite out of the way to just pop in?)

I'll survive, thanks for the tip!

I had very little HB with James and he was as bald as they come, bless him!

I've had it bad both times and rennies are the only thing that seem to work for me, although haven;t tried the gaviscon advanced. Normal gavsicon doesn't touch it though. J had a head full of thick black hair so the old wives tale rang true for me.

I hired a tens machine from my midwife this morning. Didn't use one last time so thought I'd give it a go this time if I can. Was £20 which I thought was reasonable really, as boots charge £28 for 5 weeks and midwife just said return this some time after I've had baby.

Baby still head down and front to back which is good, but she's free again after being 1/5 engaged last time. Normal in second pregnancies though so I'm not overly worried. My bump is smaller though...was 35cm at 34+1 appt, and today was 34.5cm at 36+1. Assume bump has either dropped or it was just the student midwife shawdowing my usual one measuring me wrong last time?

I would have thought maybe bump has dropped then ceecee? Although I find all their measuring techniques differ massively.

Looks like old wives tale is true for me as well- Freddie had loads of hair and sonographer showed me the whispy bits that are our girly's hair!!!! She's looking fab in there- plenty of fluid and she's slap bang in the middle of the chart for weight- estimated 6lb 5oz at the moment so I think she'll be just shy of 8lb by the time she's delivered at 39+2. So happy to see her again, she looked so comfy all tucked up in there- not the little minx that she feels like when I get the foofy daggers!!! Haha!!!

My heart now feels all big and I just can't wait to meet her.

Midwife this afternoon so I'll find out where her head is x

The cheaper equivalent on gaviscon advance is peptac around £3.00 a 500ml bottle. Works just as well. I've got it on repeat prescription but my pharmacy also gave me it on the minor ailments service when I had run out.

Glad all is well with both babies xx really wish I could see my little baby again xx guess I'll have to wait for the big arrival :)

Glad all the babies are well.

TS isn't it your MW that has a scanning machine? Or am I mixing you up with someone else?

I have a scan on 5th Jan, I'll be just shy of 38w so won't expect to see much.

MW next Monday for me though so will see if little one is still head down.

Still have a bloody sore tooth / gum but feeling a lot more positive this afternoon. Just nipped out and overspent on 2 massive steaks for our Xmas Eve dinner (I have mine well done by choice normally anyway so no hardship that I can't have it medium rare!). Makes up for no Bailey's this year!

Aww Jolly, I love that you got to see wispy hair on the scan :) Fingers crossed she'll be head down and reayd to go. Fab weight too, although I know they are never 100% accurate.

I haven't heard of peptac Megs. Our GP is closed now until New Year so will have to just make do with the rennies for now.

TS, I wish I had another scan too...feels like it's been an age since the 20 week one. Still, not like we have that long to go now until we meet them :D

What time is your scan today Tinsel? Hopefully baby will have surprised you and turned.

Nat, ouch for tooth/gum, but very jealous of your steak. I could murder a medium-rare steak with peppercorn sauce right now!!!

I'm nearly out of Gaviscon now... I get woken up generally around 3am with terrible heartburn and reflux and have to try to sleep sitting up from that point onwards. Getting very uncomfortable now. Luckily OH does nightshift so I have the bed to myself!

So it looks like baby had turned last night, which is fortunate or I would have needed to stay in hospital over Christmas!

I made the mistake of not taking any reading material with me for my 'scan' today, and paid the price with a gruelling 7 & half hours in hospital.

Baby had a very high PI (pressure index) on the umbilical cord which they were worried about so I am going to have to come in every couple of days now for more monitoring & to go in right away if I notice any decrease in fetal movement.

Baby estimated to be 6 lbs 4.4 oz at the moment. Cervix examination gave Bishop's score of 2, so I guess I can chill out for Christmas - labour isn't around the corner yet!

Omg I would LOvE a medium rate steak right now!!!! With an icy cold glass of prosecco/cava/champagne, with pate to start and a mouldy cheese platter for pud!!!!!!!

I guess there are advantages to being a teetotal vegan, I haven't had to give up anything :D

Feeling you on the heartburn front though, ladies - am on some horrible aniseed-flavoured pink medicine to combat it (prescription thankfully).

Why does it always have to be aniseed!!! Yuk!

Are you ladies all ready for Christmas Day? I did a mammoth Christmas shop in town yesterday after thinking I'd bought everything I needed online. Oh no, there were about a million things id forgotten!!! Having been dreading Xmas for weeks I now feel really excited because I know my family will run around after Freddie for two days and I can just relax!!!!! X

I'll take a rare steak, large, with a large glass of red, followed by the rest of the bottle, and then the cheese platter. Now the 'end' is in sight, I'm really fantasising about all the stuff I have pushed to the back of my mind because I know I can't have them!!

Hi Nat yeah my Dr's have one but they have been cut on using them for some reason but I might just ask Monday when I'm in again xxx

Great news that baby has turned. Sorry to hear other news but sure it will be fine. Good job you had the scan and know about it now and they can keep an eye on you and baby.

Fantastic news about baby turning Tinsel :)

Jolly I hate you right now...that sounds amazing! I am totally going to miss gorging on all the Christmas cheese and pate this year haha. Will have tommake up for lost time once baby arrives ;)

Hi Tinsel, how interesting, another vegan :-)
I bet you have also been told by many people that you should eat meat during your pregnancy :-P

I have been well throughout, blood/urine tests always very good, and baby measurements also doing great. How about you, how's your pregnancy been?

I don't post often, ladies, but I do follow the forum and it's great to see how we are all evolving. 35 weeks today, yikes!

I definitely think you should just eat what makes you feel well. People have way too many opinions, especially regarding eating during pregnancy!!! :-)))
