February 2016 Mamas!!

Hello!!! I'm here... we're ALL here :)

How is everyone doing??
I feel rather great at the moment, little bit of tinnitus and a little bit of heartburn here and there but I certainly don't experience morning sickness and I'm not huge yet either... best time in pregnancy??

As for buying stuff, I've been so lucky, my friend has given me a huge sack of baby and maternity clothes, all gender neutral. She's also given me a tens machine, breast pump, pushchair, baby changing mat, nappies, mobile, moses basket, blankets. Then, I found a new born mothercare pram (in a charity shop - £85) that can be converted into a pushchair all the way up until toddler age with an in-built carseat and all the gadgets - even a footsteps recorder!! All we really need now is a cot and bedding etc.

Sorry to bore you there, I'm just so excited!!

Yay we're finally all here.

I've really noticed good movements the last few days - feeling generally quite well despite the odd wobble. I'm just really struggling with work and the stresses of it right now - honestly could hide under my duvet I feel that bad about it some days.

Midwife has advised I look at reducing my hours or seeking some time off if it starts to affect me more- just feel so guilty about it

When do you finish work Pumkin? I too am feeling like you about work. I'm packing up next Friday though! It's to much everyday.

Molly it is so exciting and it seems you've been really helped by your generous friend. I brought a lot of stuff from Facebook buying sites then treated us to the odd new thing such as the Moses basket. It's so good when it all feels like it's coming together.

Anyone else's bumps ever feel bruised? Mine has done for the last couple of days. Also feels super tight! She has had a crazy few days moving non stop. Not sure if that could have anything to do with it? I'm sure she is transverse now, monkey was head down at my last midwife appt.

Mine is at moment feels like hes going to pop out of my belly button his that close lol, think he's had a major growth spurt in last couple of weeks my belly's getting masive now :)

I don't finish until the end of January! And I've got my busiest period at work looming now, so it's hard work - I'm going to try to talk to my boss today so he understands, or at least I've told him.

I haven't felt much bruising just get the odd pain at the top of my bump but o think that's because she's preferring to be right under my ribs

That's hardcore Pumpkin! Have you got lots of maternity leave for when baba arrives? I admire your hard work.
No bruising here either Elle, I just feel like I've eaten a massive meal...all the time!
Yeah I reckon baba just went a little crazy in there, leaving you feeling sensitive.

Hi all
I'm also planning on finishing end of Jan, baby due 10th Feb, but actually think it might be early, so we'll see. I can always finish earlier if I feel I need to, but this is my first so no idea what to expect!
Don't feel bruised but get a lot of right rib pain...not sure if that's a foot in my rib, or my ribs expanding? But its really painful sometimes :(
Have booked NCT classes for January, was surprised how expensive they were!!!! But am hoping to make friends in the area as I know no-one!

Yeah, same here Lucky. I've lived here a year now but only have a handful of friends, I think it'll be such a good opportunity to meet other parents-to-be. And yes, so expensive!!

I'm also in the finishing end of Jan club! I'll be 37 weeks :O and it's just flying by! I'm expecting to go overdue again so should get a good rest lol!

Oh my gosh the top of the bump is the pain of my life at the min, feels like I've pulled a muscle right across the top! (Guessing it's more likely a foot on a nerve up there!).

Nice to see all Feb mums across now! We are in the home run :D

It's so exciting!!! I feel like the luckiest person in the world to be having this baby and every week he seems to become more and more present (obviously, huge stomach and kicks etc)- I just love it. Our nursery is starting to come together now and we are building up a collection of all the things we need. Still have some furniture to buy and hope we can get that done before Christmas. Molly, how lovely of your friend- that must have been so exciting! Pumpkin and Cait I'm working v late too- probs until 2nd week of feb but I'm starting to reduce my hours now and I feel ok about it- I'm self-employed so it's a bit tricky. I'm really going to make the most of it when I finally stop completely though!

So glad we are all here and everyone sounds so happy and healthy!

Thanks but I think it's just sheer stubbornness that's getting me through - I honestly don't want to be there but just thinking of the pay!!

I'm taking a full year off work plus holidays so will end up with 14 months worth of leave. Just trying to get as much with baby and my son as possible

I wouldn't be finishing so early if I didn't have so much holiday to take. I'm convinced she will be early too so I don't want to be on holiday when she arrives coz I'll lose the holiday pay.
Fair play to all you working so late! I don't think I could physically do that. Really struggling to sleep at the moment and really achy.

Anyone have any tips on ways to figure out what way baby is laying?

Yeah I'm self employed too, I work in catering so I am just making sure that I am not working very often at all, and I don't have any bookings for after Christmas. Money is tight, but I'd like a really chilled pregnancy as it's my first and I'm not really sure what to expect (although it's becoming more and more apparent day by day). Luckily, we have just found a tenant to rent out our flat (we're currently renting a house), so that will bring in some income.
Sorry, no tips Elle. I only get kicks on the lower to mid part of my stomach, do you have kicks in your ribs? If so, your baba is probably facing head down, but I'm sure you knew that already.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention...

I have my 28 week appointment coming up, I was just wondering what this entails? I know MW told me but I've just totally forgotten, something about drinking Lucozade to test for gestational diabetes?

I didn't have a diabetes test at my 28 week.

She went through some bits (had a chat about movements I'm noticing, my hospital appointments and birthing options, how I was feeling, any issues at home (they have to ask this every time!) and whether I had any other concerns) with me, measured my bump and tested my urine sample then booked me in for next appointment.

Because this is my second pregnancy and my previous was quite recent she didn't go through some things as I'm already aware of them but it was a good 10 minutes

My midwife hasn't even mentioned a diabetes test to me and my next app isn't until 34 weeks... How strange! Not sure if I had one last time either come to think of it!

Molly I also had bloods done (blood count etc) at 28weeks and had whooping cough vaccine (should you opt to have it!)

Oh, how strange. She was talking about fasting, and then drinking I think 25ml of plain lucozade. I don't know what to do now :S Maybe I'll do it anyway just in case. I can't think as to why I would be higher risk than anyone else though.
