****December 2014 mums to be! Christmas babies!!*****

I'm dead jealous of those of you who heard the heart beat at 16 weeks, my midwife said they won't check until 24 weeks because if they can't find it they have to send you to the hospital.

I have a doppler and sometimes hear something that sounds like a fast heart beat (comes up as 150 isn bpm) but it sounds more like a whooshing, like a blood flow noise than the heartbeat noise I heard at the scan (or when I put it on my own heart). So many of you seem to be having so much success on the doppler - does this sound right for baby's heartbeat?

I'd say yes flowerpower, it might be that your Doppler is picking up the heartbeat (hence the 150bpm) but that you aren't hearing that over the top of the placenta which makes a more whooshing sound. I certainly only occasionally hear the actual heartbeat when I find it, more often the placenta is so loud I hear that but the placenta gets a reading of only a bit higher than my own heartbeat I find. Well if I'm doing it right that is!

3 months away for your OH will be tough, I have the same worries that as my OH will be away in the two months before the birth he will miss all the classes and the kicking and actually supporting me through the tough bit. But at least he isn't gone for more than about 4 weeks at a time and anyone time. He promises to come back if anything looks like it's happening early but that's easier said than done when you're on the other side of the world and a ten hour flight away! Also think he has totally failed to realise how much help I will need even doing simple tasks by that point. I got upset a couple of weeks ago when I realised that at that stage I probably won't even be able to reach the kitchen sink!!! Lol x

Eeeek round 2 of gender scan tommorow at 4pm can't wait!! Please keep everything crossed ladies that this time my naughty bubs will cooperate nd let us see his/her parts lol. Il b having a fizzy drink before I go!! Xxx

Holding everything crossed for uncrossed legs. Hope the baby cooperates. Are you leaning towards a boy or a girl? X

Good luck for tomorrow Yvonne!!! Can't wait to hear the outcome, got everything crossed that baby's legs will be uncrossed!

Flowerpower, I find that the baby isn't always in the same place. Even when I find the heartbeat it suddenly disappears off to a different part of the womb. Also the swooshing noises could be the baby moving? I hear those too and the other day there were so many I thought she was doing gymnastics! Then suddenly she kicked up against the Doppler and it gave me such a fright!! So don't worry, the baby is probably very good at hiding away from you!!

I don't have much to report other than I still have crappy heartburn and counting down the days to the anomaly scan!! 5! So nervous.xxx

Good luck for tomorrow Yvonne. Hope baby is good.

I'm lying just feeling baby move about. Very active! Feels amazing :)

Good luck with the scan!! Why fizzy drinks though? X

Cake for breakfast was a wrong decision. I thought i was over with throwing up but no. This baby does not like chocolate(i am a chocoholic). Urgh

Oh no Knopk! I get heartburn whenever I eat chocolate but I never learn my lesson.

Today's craving of the day: cashew nuts!
Xxx

Morning

Knopk - cake for breakfast hehe that made me chuckle (except the throwing up part I appreciate that isn't funny at all!)

Flowerpower - I can't imagine how hard that is going to be for you. Let's hope you don't go into labour early! My OH works away most weeks mon-fri but when I say away I mean places thst are 4-5hrs away not abroad... He'll be working / staying away right up until the birth so I am worried that either a) I'll call him he'll travel all the way back & it'll be a false alarm :s or b) I won't call him because I'll be thinking about point a) lol & he'll miss it! As for the heartbeat/Doppler part... I tend to ignore the numbers now because I find no matter where I place it on my belly even if I know it's not near baby it shows a high reading so I just listen out, babies usually in the same place for me but if I move Doppler even half a centimetre it changes from babies heartbeat to either mine or general whooshin. Have you tried using a full bladder & slightly tilting the Doppler as you push in? One of the girls on here suggested it to me & that's the first time I heard baby? Xx

P.s. Question for anyone - I'm going on a spa day today (booked pre-pregnancy otherwise I wouldn't be going)... Do I need to just stick to the swimming pool? Would an occasional dip in the jucuzzi be ok (I often have hot baths?) and are the sauna & steam room big no no's? Xx

Morning jai,
Everything I've seen says jacuzzi and steam rooms are a definite no as you can't regulate your temp properly. Jacuzzis can be deceptively hot. But then other people might say they think it would be ok. As far as I know steam rooms etc are a very bad idea - I wish they weren't as I would love to go to one!
X

I'd keep out of the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room just to be safe. I went on one a few weeks ago and sat on the side of the jacuzzi for a bit dangling my legs in but got really hot even doing that! Enjoy the relaxation time :)

Morning all. Looks like a nice morning. OH is away to some super bike event today so I have peace to get stuff done. I'm going to paint the bathroom today. Exciting eh? Lol

I would hate my OH working away. I don't even like him going away for a day! I really feel for you ladies who have to deal with that x

JaiandLeigh I also heard that jacuzzis etc are not good in pregnancy. I hope you still have a lovely time x

What's everyone else up to today? X

Definitely a no no hun. Overheating isnt good for you. Swimming pool is fine though

How has everyone's day been. I've been bored as OH was away to watch super bikes so I've been trying to keep busy all day. Only thing I've put off doing is the ironing so I better do that now x
