Closed - old IVF thread

I still look at the pic of my ugly embryo and stroke it and wonder what gender it was and what colour hair and eyes it might have had. I suppose that's a bit weird :oooo:

We were thinking of the name Johnny for a boy at the time so that is what we called the embryo so it has a name too.

We say things like "I wonder if we'll see Johnny again this cycle" :)

I thought the exact same thing Greek, that it was a sure thing.

Do you ladies have stars at the top of each post, like a bug, or is it just me?

Aww I love your pic Hun ! Isn't it amazing to see what is happening ! They all look do different . Like yours and scotches :) suppose that's silly to say. Your johnny was not ugly - he looked busy though :)

Yeah stupid things you believe like getting pregnant is as easy as not using protection :( well 2 weeks today I will have my little embryo transfered and I have decided i am going to be positive and all this negativity wasn't good for me.

Injected in my thigh yesterday and it was soooo painful back into tummy and adding to pin cushion . How the rest of you coming along ?

P.s no stars Hun ( but I'm on iPad not sure if that makes a diff as can't see tickers either )

I'm on iPad too but the stars have gone :)

Yeah, definitely no point in being negative about things if you can help it ;)

I always stab in my tummy, never even tried my legs as I don't like the thought of bones being nearby :oooo:

I'm still spotting marmite (lol) but I've decided that what must be happening is the the progesterone isn't being maintained for 24 hours so it dips and causes a smudge of discharge.

People always say that dark brown blood is old blood but it can't be :eh:

Maybe it's brown because it's not inside the uterus, it's more external? But then where is it coming from. I hate contradictions. Research is required! :)

I only did my thigh as my tummy is so sore and though I'd try thigh give me a break. Did the menopur and was so painful then did suprecur straight after in tummy .

Not sure what stars were then.
Not sure about brown spotting as first timer ! Sorry no help ! :(

Apparently it goes brown after being exposed to air, so maybe it's being released so slowly that it's been exposed fora while before I see it :eh:

The menopur is tricky to make not hurt. They tend to hurt more if you are moving the needle around inside you as you press the syringe xx

Lou, thank you for what you wrote for me yesterday. I did well to stay off for a day and get my head round things.

We know now that this cycle's over and we're looking forwards to taking a well earned break for 6 months or so. Tomorrow the drugs will stop and life will start properly for the first time in over 2 years and we're both looking forwards to that.

I'm really sorry it didn't work out for you Scotch

Enjoy your break, don't be a stranger

xx

Really sorry to hear it didn't work hun! Had everything crossed for u. X

So sorry Scotch, I hope a break away helps, we are always here if you need us for anything xxx:hugs:

Really sorry Scotch but happy to hear you and oh are looking at the positives of this xx

So sorry Scotch, hope you enjoy your break and can just enjoy resuming life

Oh I'm so sorry Scotch and Porkpie , I had so hoped it would be your time, a break from this horrible limbo land sounds like a good plan, you have age def on your side - please stick around tho, we will miss you if you disapear totally XX

don't worry, I don't mean a break from here - we're just not planning to do our next IVF cycle for 6-12 months. It's been too much of a drain and we need a break. We have the new house to keep us busy for a bit and we just need to actually live some of our 20s as there's not much of them left!

Reaaaaaaaa!!!!!

I need your help again :(

What time in the day did you take your Microgynon?

I asked my clinic, no reply and when they finally get around to it they didn't acknowledge the question so I start taking it first thing for convenience... Realise I have a protocol sheet tucked in with all my forms that I needed to sign - take in the evening

I can't think of a reason why it would be a bad thing really, at least the spotting lets me know the hormones are in my system, so just wondering...

Scotch - glad to still have you knocking around :) Still one of us even if you are daring to wait ;)

Hya! I took it each morning at 7am :) do you think they might have told you to take it in the evening out of habit? You know, because other drugs are taken in the evening so that they can call up and change dose? They won't be changing dose though so I reckon morning is perfect xx

I had my last scan and bloods on Fri.... took trigger last night.... and in tomorrow for harvesting the crop! I will let you all know how many eggs are collected :) My little left was still sticking in there on Friday with one at 19mm, and the right was going nuts with 16 follicles over 10mm (10 or 11 likely to be collectable). Any last minute advice regarding EC day? I was thinking of laying on the couch in the afternoon watching cheesy films ;)

Thanks :) I'm glad you did the same.

I dunno why they say evening, I thought maybe so that they could tell me to stop on the same day of the scan because otherwise I would have taken it already... But I don't see what difference tha makes seeing they can't control when I get my bleed.

Congrats on the follicle scan and omg egg collection tomorrow :dance::dance:

That sounds like a lovely crop of embryos that you're going to get :)

Make sure to go through your checklist - no nail varnish, makeup they can see , take a dressing gown, no jewellery. They made me take my wedding ring off which I wasnt happy about so maybe leave it at home if you prefer.

They may or may not give you some max strength paracetamol to take home with you, my last clinic didn't - stingy sods. I didn't take any after the first day though.

Just make sure you have somewhere comfortable to stay for a couple of days. Rest up and heal before ET. Switching between standing and sitting is when you'll feel it the most. Do NOT attempt to get in or out of the car without your hubby supporting your weight - ouch!

Ohhhhhhhhhh good luck Rea! I'm so excited for you xx
