Closed - old IVF thread

Suprecur's the one you've been using to down regulate right?

(sorry I've used different drugs to you so don't know the names)

Was the drug to thin lining and make sure ovaries are quiet.

cool ok

so you have that to shut everything down

then you continue it alongside the stimulating drugs to make your follicles grow. The stimulating drugs make lots of follicles, the down regulation drug stops them from maturing

once they've decided your follicles are the right size for maturing you stop both of those and you have a trigger shot. This matures all your eggs at the same time. This is the injection which has to be taken exactly when they tell you as they need to time your egg collection for about 36 hours later.

at egg collection they'll tell you how many eggs you got. Your partner will give his sample and they'll get jiggy in the lab over night

after egg collection you'll start to rattle - you'll have to take antibiotics to reduce the risk of infection after your egg collection, you'll be allowed to take paracetamol if you're sore, you'll still be on your folic acid and you'll add the progesterone suppositories. these make your lining good for your embryos to snuggle in

your embryos will be checked the morning after egg collection to see how many have successfully fertilised. They'll tell you if you're having a day 2 transfer (usually if you have poor fertilisation) or if you're going further. They usually check them again on day 2 if you're going further and tell you how they're developing. They'll decide whether you're having day 3 or day 5 (blastocyst) transfer.

Going further is for the purpose of deciding which embryos are better, it doesn't make those individual embryos better so don't worry if you don't go to blast, they're just trying to choose the best ones to put back out of what you've got, if you've only got a few they may well be perfect, they just don't need to decide which ones and they'll survive better inside you.

Finally, your test date will be around 16 days after egg collection, although you can expect to see a positive at the same time as other people who ovulated on the day you had egg collection

hope that helps

Scotch that was a huge help and put all the othe drugs into prospective also I was worried it w menopur I had to do at the the same time and they hadn't told me. I always and then think of a thunder questions. They keep saying they will only tell me the step I need to know but I like to know in advance which is why ur post was so helpful . I did know the basics but wanted to know where drugs fit in . Thanks again . Hoping Friday brings u a bfp as u and pp so deserve it x

Hi ladies,
a bit of a late post from me but I have my in-laws staying and haven't had a min to get all Pf'd ;)

JJ - thanks for your comments, I was trying my best not to build the possible polyp into anything more than a 'possible'. You're right about taking things bit by bit... and it paid off.

Ding dong the (possible) polyps gone La La Laaaa La La La Laaaaaaa

So happy this morning when the nurse said she couldn't see anything and it was probably due to a significant oestrodiol surge over the weekend (500 to 2000)
This morning was a happy scan :)
Details are as follows:
Lining 9.9mm
Left Ovary (strangely proud of my left ovary;) ) has 1 follicle at 14mm
Right Ovary has 2 x 18mm, 1x15.2, 1x15.1, 1x14.4mm, 1x14.1mm, 1x12.9mm, 1x11.7mm 1x11.5mm and 4x10mm.

Collection is now going to be Monday so I should have a fair few to play with!

Greek Girl -- great that things are set to get you started hun!

That is fantastic rea bet u are so excited. Roll on Monday - start of an exciting few weeks .

Just done my menopur and suprecur, and I never have a reaction other than slight redness from suprecur injection . Just showing hubby where I did it and I have a raised area like a bite mark where I did suprecur . I've took pic to see if any of u had the same but not sure if it captures it ImageUploadedByTapatalk1344463041.277728.jpg

Maybe I'm just being paranoid . Sorry ladies

Lol JJ, you're crazy

I don't get credit on anything, which also means I haven't had a proper kitchen in over a year :oooo:

Oh yes don't forget Tinker too :good:

I'm 30 days away from egg collection today

Well done Lou not getting credit, you are good esp as your on cycle 4, you must be very good with money any tips...?.. I gave up credit years ago , till this ivf biz..:wall2:

Wow just 30 days till EC!! wow 6 weeks till bfp then...

Well done Rea, what a great scan, and lovvely that your follies are all looking very sinular in sizes , so they can get to the same size at collection time. good luck for monday incase i'm not on before X

GG - Like Lou, I thought you were stimming already too! Great news that your now off and running with menopur, that's what I used. I found an ice pack for 15 -20 seconds on tum first really helped me not feel the jabs.. Think it helped me in my head more...

Ha ha JJ, I'm not paying for my own treatment. I wish I had that much money

My hubby's parents are paying.

Withdrawing all the money from the account and paying in cash only is the best tip I've got. We haven't been able order anything online so make do and we only carry enough money to pay for what we planned to buy, so no impulse purchases.

Rea - that is AMAZING news  Roll on Monday :good:

Greek - I wouldn't worry about the bump, I've had all sorts :) If it's still there as big in a day or looks bigger, then I'd contact the clinic xx

Thanks GG :)
I'd echo what JJ and Lou said. I also used an ice cube but I put it on for a few seconds afterwards. Also, I tended to inject pretty slowly to give my cells time to absorb the new liquid. I haven't had a reaction where it's been so raised but I have occasionally had redness around the site of injection. The ice really helped. Good luck for next time! x

Wow Lou so 30 days.... and 6 weeks till (fingers, toes, arms, legs crossed) BFP!!!! Brilliant!! I read on your other thread about the 'waiting' That has the potential to drive you nuts girl! Ok, we have to find some fun jobs. Can you visit anyone? Sew anything? Decorate anywhere? ;) Hope it goes quickly, smoothly and successfully for you hun x

JJ - thanks :) How's your bathroom looking btw? Our bloke is coming to re-do our bathroom beginning of September. Can't wait to have a working shower!?

Scotch -- one more sleeeeeeeep. terribly exciting!!! x

I might venture to clean the house today Rea, but no, I am not exerting myself in any other way. That's the thing, I don't feel like I need to do anything, I don't feel particularly bored, just like waiting for a bus.

You sit and you wait and you twiddle your thumbs knowing that eventually the wait will be over :oooo:

I was wondering about JJ bathroom myself yesterday lol! I think we need a pic!

Scotch - I know I reply to you in the other thread, but it is a little bit more serene in here if you need a break from the hype and excitement xx

Rea, I need your help :(

I'm still spotting on the Microgynon and I'm cd 8 now. Did you experience anything similar?

Plus, you know when you got your period after stopping, what was it like? Normal? Lighter? Heavier? I'm scared if I'm spotting that I won't be able to identify cd 1 when I stop taking it :(

Hi hun, I did spot for ages. Just checked my diary. I had a normal period for the first 3 or 4 days then I went lighter and lighter but carried on needing light pad until day 9/10. I was able to use panty liners from day 7. The latter few days my spotting was dark discharge really (sorry if tmi) When are you due to stop taking it? When I stopped taking it I came on the next day. I think even though this AF is trailing, as soon as you stop the micro AF will arrive clearly so you'll be confident of cd1 x x  x x

Thanks Rea, you've made me feel a lot better :)

Yeah, I had a normal AF which I thought had stopped as it went practically non-existant but the discharge seems to have picked up again and it's really very dark brown. It's not getting on my knickers but if I press with tissue there are dark smears and tiny clots stuck to it.

I'll just wait and see how long it lasts I guess. I'm on it until cd 19 at the earliest so there is time yet :)

How many days were you on it for?

I was reading that it works by also preventing your lining from getting too thick so then I crapped myself thinking I wouldn't notice it when it did arrive

you're welcome hun, I'm glad xx

That sounds exactly like mine. The dark clotted nature of the discharge. And I remember feeling like it was bound to stop and it just carried on!? They told me my lining was thin on my first baseline scan and I wondered if I'd have much of a period but AF was very clear when she arrived :)

I ended up being on it for ages as I came on earlier than expected and they weren't able to change my apt. The minimum time was 12 days but I was actually on it for 32 days! xx

I wonder if that is why you got your withdrawal bleed so quickly, most people seems to say 3-4 days after their last pill but I'm hoping for 4-5 days after to fit in perfectly with my master plan :)

I'm really spotty too :( I normally have a couple of spots going at any one time but I seem to have loads of goosebump type spots all over my cheeks. Not a good look

I had that too -- just under the skin. I'm sorry to say it lasted for a while. But it's gone now though :)

Scotch is testing today isn't she?

I can't imagine she'll check PF before hand but just in case... got my fingers crossed for you Scotch xxxxxxx

Scotch is alright, I don't know if she's tested or not today but I got the impression she's waiting until her OTD which is Sunday I believe. Maybe she'll wait for AF, I dunno.

She's taken a step back to brace herself and hubby for whatever is next - hopefully a BFP, but better safe than sorry.

IVF 2wws are really f'in cruel because you know there is a life inside you and you've already seen it growing, already love it and even have a photo of it so it not just a case of not getting a BFP but knowing that something died.

She really put herself out there, which is really brave and I almost envy her for being strong enough the second time around but it's a shit place it be if it starts going wrong :(

Enjoy your first time Rea, that's all I'm saying ;)

Louise its scary but true how u put it! I already love the baby I'm injecting for and god only knows when I see pictures like scotch how I will feel if it doesn't work. I used to kid myself that ivf was a guarantee when I was younger but it's so hard to accept it isn't!
I hope all us ladies get out little sticky bean soon. X
