Closed - old IVF thread

Hi girls, hope you don't mind me jumping in but I have a question for skeando - first off glad your appt went well and its all under way for you. Very exciting! Just wondering if your appt was after the 'extra' 3 months waiting? I know Laura has hers next Fri and mine is in Oct (this is based on an 18 mth wait) so I was expecting to actually be starting iui in Jan if this extra 3 months apply? Not sure I'm making any sense sorry, I'm super tired at the mo lol, hope you get what I mean :eh: xxxx

Good luck girls, I'm rooting for all of you (even if you don't hear from me much)

Kay Kay,

This was my first appt at Royal, my 18months was up in June, I got my letter in May and obv had my appt today. i think as long as they are happy with the bloods/smear test/rubella/swabs and sa they do, then basically you start on next cycle (which I was surprised at).

I'm guessing when you go in October you will be the same, you will start on your next cycle, you shouldn't need to wait till jan, unless you want to.

I should get my next AF about 18th Aug-ish and I have to phone on CD1 to make appt to collect drugs and get all blood results (so they can work out what dosages I'm getting)
OH has to do SA on 20th Aug
Then approx 9th Sep I will start nasal spray, and have first check on how that is doing on 18th sep, and take it from there.

Thanks for the info chick  I can't tell you how much this has cheered me up, that I might be starting iui before the end of the year!!! I could cry!! I thought I would have to go another christmas waiting and worrying but might not have to eeek xxxx

Always nice when the loooooooong journey takes a bit of a jump forward! Hope you get started nice and quick after your apt in Oct Kay Kay.

Great news for you skeando! That'll all start to happen nice and quick for you now :)

Love your Pinky and the Brain pic Scotch

How have your symptoms been today Lou? Apart from wanting to :strangle: your lovely OH!? ;)

Hi Tink  xx

Scan was good today :) there is some growth -- whoop whoop!
Wed I had only 3mm lining and now I have 7mm :)
Wed biggest follicle was 5.7mm - now I have 10-15 follices on Right ovary and biggest is 9mm :)
My oestrodiol went up mon-wed but they're looking for a bigger increase so I might get a call today to up the dose or more likely after Monday's apt they might suggest an increase. So all in all, I'm feeling good about things :) things are beginning to actually change..... a whisper of excitement creeping in... but not too loud.... just in case... :shhh:

Hiya Rea :)

I'm alright thanks, but still suffering with hot flushes. I wasn't as clammy today but a couple of hours after taking it and I feel like my skin is burning, like I have a fever. I'm cooling off a bit now but still not sure if it's the pills or just AF.

Wow! What an improvement! :good:

Is it 10 or 15 follicles though? I hate vagueness

Either or is still really good though, I'm starting to feel all excited for your cycle now! We're certainly due a BFP

Welcome back jj you sound like you've had a great trip :)

Hiya JJ

I hope you enjoyed yourself! Nice to have you back :) Did you manage to scrimp much while there? ;)

Exciting things are now getting started for you Louise, it's come round pretty quickly though I'm guessing it doesn't feel like that to you.

To those that have paid for cycles, think its just Louise and JJ so far isn't it? Do you mind me asking how much medications cost? Everywhere I read people say around £1000 but I my clinics price list is more £400-600 so I'm not sure I'm reading correctly and don't want to get my hopes up that it could be that low.
And Expert Louise ;) if hubby's total useable count for ICSI was 28million is that high enough for IVF or would it have to be ICSI again?

Good luck ladies.

Scotch I hope those little embeies are latching on in there. Good luck

Lou - must feel good now you've started the tablets :) won't be long for you

Everyone in here deserves a bfp - come on we need some more in here xx

Hiya Tinker :)

I suppose in a way it has come around quickly, in that it's finally here, but it has really dragged and now I've starting my pills I suppose I do still have about 3 weeks on nothing else changing :oooo:

If your hubby has 26MIL sperm with good motility and morphology then yes it would be good enough to try IVF, but you would risk lower fertilisation rates. I know it's one less thing to pay for but just weigh it up.

Drug costs really depends on what drugs you use and how much of it.

Buserelin = £20 per vial, Menopur = £25 per 75miu vial, but those are direct prices so you might be able to shave about 20% off if you shop around.

I've got some menopur going spare.

Thanks LD :) I hope your ttc efforts are going well xx

Great news Skeando!!! Hope to be joining you all soon on this thread as my appointment is next Fri!!

Thanks Lou! You wouldn't like the nurse then ;) she's not committing much yet. I shall endeavour to collect precise information on Monday  ;)
I've never had symptoms like that with AF... I tend to get clumsy but not hot flushes. Fingers crossed it is AF though, otherwise it'll be a hot August for ya!?

Welcome back JJ  glad you had a good time on hols x

Does anyone know if it matters if you vary the time you take the Gonal F and Buserelin? I've been injecting around 7pm but I'm going out this afternoon/eve and wondered if it would make any difference if I injected around 3pm? I've just called my clinic and left a message with the nurses but I'm not sure if they'll get back to me 'cause of it being Saturday. Just wondered if any of you girls had varied your timings or already asked a similar question to your clinics.....?

Hi rea. I was told within same time
Period for buserelin . So as I preferred nights she said between 6-11 so that's quite a window x

My clinic said within 1 hour each side of your normal time
