Clomid girlies thread

Hello ladies. I hope you don't mind me asking a couple of questions...? A good friend of mine has just been prescribed clomid and there were two things she forgot to check with the doctor. Firstly shall she continue with the pre conception vitamins and secondly she was warned she may have bad period pains so can she take all of the usual painkillers? I told her I was on pregnancy forum and had seen a thread so I would ask you guys for some advice! Thanks in advance! Xxx

Taking conception specific vitamins was a condition of our treatment, so yes she can carry on taking those. As far as I'm aware you can take painkillers as normal. I've not had any more period pain than usual on clomid but I tend to not really get them much anyway. Hope it works for her!

I'm now on clomid cycle 5. So far on CD10 so not ovd yet. I've also managed to get metformin this week so started taking that too. No idea if it will help or even get into my system soon enough for our remaining clomid attempts but anything is worth a try at this stage!

Anyone else on a clomid cycle at the moment, it seems pretty quiet in here :)

I'm not entirely sure I've ovd this cycle. If I did it was on CD20, so really late and outside the range 'they' say clomid should work when my last day taking it was CD6, so 5-9 days later should be no late than CD15. I've been oving on CD17/18 on my first 4 cycles but CD20 is even worse. Not sure it is working how it should :(

Hi girls I am on my fifth month of 50mg clomoid but haven't been offered any scans I was given a blood test on my first cycle they said it worked but since then nothing is it his normal I only have one month left and worried that it isn't working as the predictor kits arnt showing anything up .

Also does anyone know what happens after six months of clomoid will I be offered anything else
Thanks
Laura

Hi Laura. I'm on my 6th and final clomid cycle. If it doesn't work we get one go at IVF (although I am currently over the weight limit so I need to diet first), then we are out of options. I'm surprised and gutted the clomid hasn't worked for us so far as we have been ttc for 4 years with 2 natural pregnancies that ended in mc, as my issue is with releasing an egg we all thought clomid would do the trick but so far no joy.

I don't always get a positive on an opk but scan have shown I'm oving despite them not picking up the LH surge. I think I have a very short surge that is really easy to miss, you may be the same.

Thanks for the reply snowbee

How come they only free you one go at IvF that doesn't seem a lot 😢 Did they give you a reason I think my original issue was that I was not releasing an egg either Have you had scans every month I haven't been offered any and was considering ringing the hospital before I finish my sixth and final go at clomoid are you allowed to be on it longer than six months? X

It is the policy of our area NHS for only one go. I believe most places are the same now.

No I only had scans the first month to check the dose was correct and that I only ovd the one egg, which I did so no further scans.

I've only been given the option for 6 months but I think I will ask for more at our next appointment (my consultant is bound to say no though as he is quite 'by the book'). They say no more than 6 months as it can thin your lining, so you end up with an egg but nowhere for it to implant. I believe if you take a couple of months break it resolves itself. There is also an increased cancer risk with prolonged use (although my consultant said that if you actually deliver a baby then your risk resets to normal).

Hi Ladies

So pleased to have found this thread.

I have just picked up my clomid prescription today. 50mg CD2-5, 3 rounds.

I have PCOS and I was prescribed Metformin 2 months ago and it appears to have started my periods (31 day cycle). I had no period for over a year before that. I had bloods done last month and I didn't ovulate. I am also dieting, as the consultant has urged how much that can increase our chances along with the meds.

I conceived my son two years ago on round 6 of clomid, so I'm really hoping to have luck again.

Where are you all at the moment with your cycles and rounds? I'm starting ovulation test sticks today too (day 13). Any tips for using them? X

Hi mrsablett and welcome :) You have given me hope saying that you conceived your son on round 6 of clomid. I'm currently on my 6th clomid cycle and this is my final one. I'm on 100mg, days 2-6 although this cycle I went 3-7 just as my period arrived very late in the day so I thought I would knock it on a day. My consultant is not a fan of metformin and point black refused to even discuss it with me. After my 4th failed cycle I went to my gp and she agreed to let me try 500mg metformin alongside my final two rounds of clomid. I'm hoping that will help. With regard to opks, I've been oving on CD17/18 and once on CD22 on clomid so starting on day 13 is a good idea.

Thanks peanut, how are you?

Hi Snowbee

The very best of luck to you on this cycle.

I have been started on 50mg but I think I started on 100mg last time. Has your dose increased?

Are you having blood tests during each cycle?

I will watching closely for your BFP X

No I started on 100mg. My consultant didn't think I would respond to a lower dose. I only grew one follicle on 100mg so I guess he was right. I had tracking scans and blood tests on my first round and as they decided I ovd on it I didn't get any more. I'm pretty sure it has been working as I've been having 'regular' cycles on the clomid (31,32,31,32,37) and my temperature seems to confirm ovulation. Are you having scans?

No scans. It wasn't offered. Do you think I should query it? Not sure how to contact the consultant though.

Where are you with your cycle now? Have you started taking the last round?

I would ask for scans for at least the first round to check it is working and the dose is correct (although if you have had clomid before this may be why they haven't offered it this time, did you have scans then?). Do you have a number for the fertility nursing team? All my scans were done through them and all our questions have to go to them.

I'm 12/13dpo on round 6, so not long until I find out now. I've got some cramping today and have had on and off for the last week. I hope it is a good sign. This cycle was my most painful too, leading up to ovulation was uncomfortable and I was quite bloated then had a lot of ovary pain over a few days, so I'm hoping that is all a good sign and that a big juicy egg (or two, I wouldn't complain about twins!) popped out.

I can't decide how I'm feeling about it really. It is a real roller coaster of emotion this journey. Did you try for long before you had your first?

I've made a bit of a mess up and only have one frer in stock, I thought I had an unopened box and one from an open box left. I'm thinking tomorrow but then if it is inconclusive I don't know what I'll do! I've ordered some more but they won't arrive until next week and I'm not near a shop that sells them. I'm debating a special trip to town tomorrow to stock up!
