Baby Led Weaning

Aww Steph! Alfie looks like he had a great dinner time! U defo know what he's thinking! :D :D xxx

I love the pineapple face!!! Arianna does that with choc - I know a female that doesnt like chocolate - she's much to learn

Awww Arianna and Alfie look like they are enjoying there food, litte cuties :D

is hope ok to have natural normal yogourt? Got some but its not greek aand i think its low fat too?

I was told by the HV as long as it's pasturised it will be fine.... but if it is nnormal yoghurt dont give a lot as they are usually full of sugar and sweetners

heehee Steph what fab pics it does seem like you know what your little man is thinking! :rotfl: I love it when Otis pics up a piece of food lets it touch his lips and then discards it like a dirty old sock!!!
My neighbour has lent me the Annabel Karmel's Baby and Toddler Meal Planner book and in the 9 - 12 month section there are some good reciepes for finger food - chicken and apple balls, sandwhiches etc so I'll try some out and let you know if any where a success with Otis. She also has a few tips re sandwhich fillers i'll give them a try as well as most of themare home made things - I'd rather make my own then use pre made items for the shops. Oh yes one suggestion was eggy bread well she calls em French Toast cut-outs made with 1 egg, milk, cinnamon bread and butter, I haven't got any cinnamon but may give it a try this morning I may make some for Otis and some for me!!! I use unsalted butter and may use BM instead of cows milk - tell me do you think it's grouse if I used BM and have some myself, after all it's home made milk by moi????

i usually give her baby yogourt but i thought i could just add fruit

oh yeah thought I'd just post this....
Not quite BLW and much to mums disapproval!!!!!!!

Oh just couldn't wait to give him a taster, and may I stress I do not approve of this and of course Otis literally got stuck in - :shakehead:

did the same thing the other day, hope loved it and was grabbing it so he had to give her a taste, not something im gonna let him do on a regular basis :shhh:

Hi Everyone

Sarah thanks for all thoses tips

Steph those pics of Alfie are priceless, he looks like a boy who wants to be in control of what goes in his tummy

Daggers, Otis is looking as gorgeous as ever! Does anyone elses baby think that every time you eat they must eat too? Now I can't have anything naughty! Daggers I make my own hummus and guacamole etc because of the salt too but I give her some canned fish that all the kids here eat and it does have both in but apparantly a lot less than usual.

We are very happy as Leorah did her first solid poo today :cheer: It means food is going down and digesting :D

Yesterday the HV came and she is now 7.5kg and 68cm so doing very well and is right in the average line though she is slightly longer than she is chubby! I honestly was prepared for disapproval from the Hv for weaning this way but I printed out a lot of pics to show her and she was so impressed and said that some babies don't take to spoonfeeding so will recommend BLW!!

I went out for lunch today and took Leorah a tuna sandwich but she was much more interested in my omlette! It had paprika in it so I was reluctant to give her it so I let her have the tiniest bit and she went crazy for it, I hope it doesn't hurt her tummy! My friend has a 5 month old DD and is now very excited to start weaning :)

I have found a way for Leorah to have her weetabix, we dip her strawberries in it! She loved it and as you can see from the pic stupid mummy forgot the long sleeve, waterproof bib  Usually breakfast is served in just a nappy!

Oh yes Daggers have you tried Otis with omlette? It is a lot easier to hold. I whizzed one up with peppers, mushrooms and spinach and it was so green but Leorah loved it and so did I!

yeah another little mucky pup, she's such a cheeky monkey!!
No haven't tried an omlette may do that tomorrow, must say the eggy bread was quite successful -or at least I enjoyed it!
Also Katt you could give Leorah her Weeabix in a banana and strawberry smoothy - just blists them, oh ya you will need to give her a spoon so maybe not? guess you could also use banana to dip into the weetabix? Otis does love his smoothies though.

love these pics, gonna have to get some snaps of Jamies famous food flingin antics on here!!
can I give Jam garlic now or too soon??

awwww daggers how gorgeous is Otis! that eggy bread sounds lovely, i might get some cinnamon today and make alfie some, and me also  if not ill try without. We were round a friends yesterday so alfie didnt have much on the finger food front, she has a nice home lol, and im not sure she is ready for it haha, but he did have a munch on his beloved banana.

Isnt it great watching them? this mroning as alfie has been not enjoying breakfast i bought some Packet (yes packet ) heinz summer fruits yogurt stuff and he absoloutely loved it, wouldnt give up the spoon so we had TWO spoons one for alfie to hold and one for mummy to scoop and put it onto alfies spoon with, we cant let him have the bol to try dunk yet as he tries throwing it everywhere  SO what i am going to do is get some rasberries strawberries, blackcurrents and blend them up with a bit of natural yogurt, im going to check today if he can have some.

Katt Leorah looks as if she is thoroughly enjoying her food. Because Alfie is a greedy little moneky and eats so much we are starting slowly, as we still have no teeth this end we do his breakfst as nice soggy mush spoon fed, dinner BLW styley where he picks about etc and tea time he has blitzed up mush ... today chicken in white wine sauce steamed pots and veg, which is a first so not sure if he will like it. but lunch times are lovely he really enjoys it and is still getting full up from his other meals, it has meant reintroducing another bottle but im happy as he is still sleeping through and learning about foods individually which ones he likes.

OOOOh alfie loves tomatoes too, but it takes ages to de-pip the things

Kay i give Thea garlic and she is younger than Jamie. She loves garlicky sauces on pasta and chicken.

Thea ate half a small melon for breakfast this morning :rotfl: She kept finishing bits and then shouting until i gave her more lol. I just left the skin on so she could grip it and she gummed it to death  She finished off with a rusk.

Uh oh, Leorah had a dirty nappy this morning. DH got her up and said it seemed recent but I am worried now as I don't want her feeling uncomfy. Has anyone else had this problem? It happened last week too but that is after I fed her at 5am.

Kay I also put garlic on everything savoury, Leorah can't get enough of it, she is probably used to it as I always eat loads of garlic and chilli.

Daggers I will try the banana with weeatabix but Leorah isn't a huge fan of banana. She love nectarines now, I peel and quarter them and then slice the middle so the flesh is exposed and the pips are out and she sucks all the juice out.

Sounds like Thea is really enjoying her food wow, a whole half a melon!! Isn't it amazing how much they can keep eating! Leorah keeps asking for more and I imagine her having a puke fest after but she just has a good old nap. Oh if only I could just pig out and then go for a nice long sleep in a reclining chair in the garden, that's the life isn't it

I have a challenge girls! I managed to order ready brek from the english shop here. Daggers has sent me a recipe that I can make pineapple flapjack with but can you think of any other recipes for ready brek? It has added calcium and iron which I really need to make sure Leorah's getting. I can make it as porridge but I can't be sure how much will go down and she wont take it off a spoon. Thanks in advance!

How about some more pics? I love seeing these messy little tykes enjoying their food :D

Hi Skatty,we have had the same thing. Now about 50% of the time she needs a nappy change either during the night or has a fresh dirty nappy in the morning. I think it is the down side of solids. We have gone from an average of less than 1 every 24hrs to 3-4 every 24hrs. She wakes and moans lots if she has a dirty nappy so I am sure Leorah will tell you if you need to do a change during the night.

Ooooh.... put that receipe for pineapple flap jacks on the reciepe thread.... I wanna make them!!

Ah Katt you made a mistake asking for pics, you know what im like with photos of Thea!

Here we go then lol
