I stated spotting last night ladies so I’m taking the kids to school then I’m taking myself to a&e smack bang on 12 weeks too

Ok, I’m going to have a little mini rant here, hope you don’t mind.

How do people speak without running it through their head first. I just got off the phone with my mother, notorious for being a bit a cowbag at the best of times, classically unintentional.

She’s wanted me to tell her stepmother, my grandmother since we told her. I haven’t for a few reasons, one I wanted to get that 12 week scan done and dusted, and two I don’t really speak to her that much, we aren’t that close, and it felt a bit awkward ringing her up and telling her.

So after avoiding her calls for a few days, and knowing she wanted to talk about the scan I spoke to her this morning. All great about the scan, very happy etc etc. And then she starts telling me how I have to tell my grandmother, because, and this is the kicker, she was telling my mother how I needed to do something about having kids soon, and she couldn’t understand why I was doing this to my husband, and he didn’t sign up for this.

We’ve been trying to have a baby for 6-7 years. I’ve had serious endometriosis, emergency surgery (that nearly killed me), an ovary removed and we’ve had IVF. All of which my mother knows, and yet still thinks this is a great way to get me to do what she wants and ring my grandmother. knowing my mother she may never have even said any of this.

I got off the phone and cried. Just started crying again telling my husband about it.

Katiepie i can imagine how upset you must feel !
Just do what you think is right for you and your mum will have to do with it !
When I had a MC at 11 weeks last summer, my mum although very sad for me, just said “that’s why I never told anybody especially not my parents, before 12 weeks!”
You know what ? She’s now questioning my sister almost everyday about if I am hiding it to her, if she’s sure I am not pregnant ?
I didn’t tell my mother anything just to avoid any more comments !
I love her but I am getting to the point I am even wondering if I should wait the 16 weeks mark and wait for the gender before even telling her I am pregnant ! :-D

They’re sending me for an emergency scan... tomorrow at 11.40am!... 24 hours before my 12 week scan, it’s a joke, they wouldn’t scan me last time I miscarried either cuz it started on the Thursday night and apparently they have no one to scan over a weekend!!

What? That's ridiculous! Why didn't they check you out now?? Are you spotting heavily or just a few drops?
So sorry you have to go through this hun. I just can't understand the logic of it.. why can't you get a scan right then and there? It's an emergency!

God knows! Like I said when I was bleeding when I was 15+3 when my last miscarraige started they wouldn’t scan me then either, the only reason they’re scanning me tomorrow is cuz the sister in a&e made them see me ASAP cuz of what happened last time other wise they wanted to wait to see me until later on this week! I was spotting for about an hour last night and I lost 2 tiny red blood clots, spotting has stopped but I had brown ewcm this morning and I also had the same last Friday, sat, sun with the brown ewcm

Dinkydizzy is there any way you could contact your local midwife team and push them to give you an urgent same day refderal to the early pregnancy unit?
With your history this is unbelievable!i would have made a scene in a and e and refuse to leave !

I think this so ridiculous! They have a special unit to make sure expectant mothers can get immediate care and yet, they shoo you out without even checking you out! Considering you already had a miscarriage so late, I would at least have expected them to take it a bit more seriously. Is this normal in the UK???

Dinkydizzy is there any way you could contact your local midwife team and push them to give you an urgent same day refderal to the early pregnancy unit?
With your history this is unbelievable!i would have made a scene in a and e and refuse to leave !

I rang my midwife to tell her about brown spotting last week and all she said was if it gets worse then make an appointment with your GP, they’re terrible in Wolverhampton, I wish I had asked to go to the next nearest hospital but they never gave me a choice

Thankyou, I’m still getting all my symptoms but I’m trying not to get my hopes up xx

I'm having some light brown spotting right now too... I have my 12 week scan tomorrow so I will keep an eye on the spotting and mention it to the doctor.
If it gets worse, I will call the midwife.
I had some spotting with my daughter near the 12 weeks too and had called the midwife, she had told me that as long as it's very little and that it's not bright red, I shouldn't get too worried about it.
I hope it goes away soon...

I rang my midwife to tell her about brown spotting last week and all she said was if it gets worse then make an appointment with your GP, they’re terrible in Wolverhampton, I wish I had asked to go to the next nearest hospital but they never gave me a choice

I would contact the midwives again ... (and make it sound worse than it is!)

Thanks ladies, I thought about making it sound worse than it is but then I’d feel bad if I took up the time of someone who really was worse off than me lol x

Steroid nasal sprays but you can't use them pregnant! Nightmare I know I'm the same at the moment xx

When I googled it there’s a lot of answers sayings it’s silent acid reflux?

Just want it to go, it’s constant, had enough! Tried Gaviscon but not really helping. X

Try some omeprazole. It works a treat for me. And is safe in pregnancy.
It’s expensive in boots like 8£ a box though (called nexium)
Or ask your doctor for a free prescription
