TW weaning thread

When she was just short of 6 months, she was only 14LBS, still not double her birth weight and was still in 0-3 month clothes. I am going to get her weight rechecked this coming week, I think she has put on a bit as she seems heavier and her 3-6 month clothes seem to fit better. She seems happier in general though.

Forgive me for being incredibly stupid here ladies but would a kind someone mind giving me a really quick explanation of the diff between blw and tw? Have not started researching yet but another thread got me interested, also  to lilelephant :) xxx

Tw is spoon led weaning so u start of with purée and blw is baby led weaning were u will give the baby things like toast and carrot sticks etc you basically skip puréed food and go straight to solids cxx

Ah I see, in that case tw is prob for me, thanks for takin the time to explain to me :) Xx

I'm going to be doing mixed feeding eventually I gave him a rusk and he couldn't get to grips with finding his mouth, he kept sucking the back of his hand while holding the rusk it was quite adorable. I bought a Nuby nibbler today and will let you know how we get on.

Hope you don't mind me popping in, I'm doing a bit of both but mainly TW so hope that's ok?? Usually Angel has porridge either banana flavoured or just normal with 2 or 3 toast fingers but today I bought some baby weetabix type things and gave her a whole one of those with milk and she ate most of it :) then for lunch she usually has some cucumber sticks, these little Organix carrot stick things lol and a yoghurt and for tea tonight she has pasta with tomato and basil sauce plus another yoghurt :p What is everyone giving their LOs for lunch? I'm unsure about things like ham I know they can have cheese but am I ok to blend up a cheese sandwich or something like that lol xx

Thomas was tw and was done at 8 weeks :-/ shock I know we couldn't fill him up 9oz bottles every 2 hours all the time is far too much IMO and all the health professionals including his peads consultant he now eats like a horse is nearly 9 and us a lanky streak of wee wee lol James is being done early as well due to his reflux and he's also having 9oz bottles all day but sleeps through tw is great fun trying all diff kinds of foods and tastes xxx

So cute how he sticks his tongue out and licks the spoon, he doesn't quite know what to do with the food but enjoys swishing it around in his mouth. So lovely to watch him react

lilelephant - thanks for starting this thread!

Kayden has been on solids since he was 5 months & 2 weeks. Because of his reflux & suspected CMA we've decided not to give any "packaged" foods incase they contain dairy/gluten. That being said my 1st LO was fed with mainly jars & she was healthy....anyway. The last few days we've been giving Kayden a special organic porridge for breakfast, a mashed banana for lunch & mashed potato with carrot, I make up the mash & carrot weekly & freeze it. Its so easy to stick in micro. We've tried other things & because i'm taking it so slow we try 1 new thing a week. Not sure what to try this week, maybe mango, or some other fruit. I'm gutted we cant give rusks (gluten) my 1st loved them. I'm on the look out for natural snacks...any ideas ladies?

Littlemiss you should be fine with Ella's Kitchen. It states on the packs and their website that its gluten free, lactose free and vegetarian and that it's all natural and organic. Not trying to shove it down your throat or anything. I just thought I would point it out in case you didn't know and wanted to read up on the brand more to see if it's an option (if you wanted)

I'd read about ellas kitchen, even tho its lactose free does that mean dairy free too? Sorry if thats a dumb question. My LO is going to start going over to my mum & dads for a while on a sunday & it would be good to give them something packaged to give him, I could always give them the frozen veg tho

xxxxxx

What purée combinations with veg can I try?? I gave Sophie a sweet potato, broccoli and carrot Ella's kitchen purée and she loved it which has made me think about doing combined purees but I don't know where to start. She's had carrot and suede already and it went down well with her

It's not a dumb question, I don;t even know to be honest. If you go to their website and click on their products, you can read all the ingredients. From what I have just looked at, all the ones with the lactose free symbol dont have any sort of dairy listed in the ingredients. I wish I could have been more helpful.

Hunnie + Manda your pics made me lol they're so cute I'll try and get a pic of Angel up xx

Angel loves these http://www.organix-shop.co.uk/carrot-sticks-22-p.asp I know she's not quite 7 months yet but she's coped really well with these, they like melt on the mouth sorta thing. But they're organic no gluten or wheat I just give her 3 or 4 a day, only about 2 whole ones probably get eaten though lol xx

You can get gluten free rusks (well you could when Thomas was a baby) I'm sure if it I'll google it for you xx
