Ttc shit boat - long term ttcers

We've been trying since Mar 14 so I guess nows the time to pop onto the boat. Noone knows we are TTC so having this forum to post has been and will be a lifesaver.

At the moment I'm Happy Sad. I'm not sure how else to describe it. everyone I know (it seems) is pregnant or recently had a baby. My Facebook feed is flooded with pictures and yesterday my SIL came round with her 12 week scan.... I am happy for them I am, but as my AF was late this month followed by a bfn it was just extra hard to hear.

I'm away for work a lot so have missed cycles due to this but I never anticipated how hard TTC could be. I've been to the docs to get my bloods done (cd4 /cd21) so just waiting for results. I just wish I could shake the doubts and keep positive.

Hi Peroni, welcome on board, hope your stay is a short one. It is so hard seeing everyone else move on with their babies while still waiting for your own. We are now at the stage where people are announcing their second in the time we have been waiting for our first. The worst part for me is people saying oh when will you be trying, or you next then, or so you don't want children then etc. Some days it is very difficult to stay positive but we can do it :)

Welcome Peroni! Yes hope you don't stay long!
Its so hard when people are on their 2nd and to still be waiting. I've started saying when people ask "we don't have children yet but we'd like some." Otherwise they assume we don't want them which upsets me as I've wanted them for so long and don't want people to think I don't like children. Most people don't then pursue it after that, some assume we are waiting for something! One person asked what we were waiting for but I don't have an answer for that yet!

I've started saying "we are working on it" or "hopefully soon". As got so fed up with people being all "oooh you're getting married ...next is a baby.. how exciting.etc" There's 2 and a half years in between when we got engaged and the wedding and I think a lot of people we know are now assuming (rightly) why we left that gap lol. (We were hoping to have baby in 2014 or 2015 and be at wedding). Getting a lot of oooh wheres the preg announcement, and ooh how exciting youl be wanting to have a baby soon.
I just hate people's excitement when they say it haha what I really want to say is...yes its so exciting planning my wedding whilst having blood tests and probes stuck up me and about to start medication.. just what I always envisioned the time before our wedding to be like .. yes I am soo excited about the whole ttc thing ". But just settle for saying we are working on it haha! Xx

Someone said I didn't seem very excited about having a baby so I said "I used to be!" and that shut her up! My mum told me to hurry up and make her a grandma when we first moved house 3 years ago so I said "you can't hurry up nature, anyway you're the last person who should be saying that!" (I am adopted.) She did apologise.

Thanks for the welcome ladies... let's hope we all got of this boat soon!!

Randomly my other SIL said she had a dream that the other SIL (recently pregnant) myself and her would all be pregnant together.... with all 3 mths apart. So perhaps yesterdays news was to show that my BFP is not that far away!

Hi!

OH had a sperm test which showed low morphology. He has to have it re done to confirm as the GP said it could have just been a bad day at the office...

Has anyone got any experience with this particular issue? I can't find much on the Internet....x

Hi Lesley, don't have any specific info for you other than when we went to our first fertility app they said my husband should take a specific conception vitamin. He didn't have his first sperm test until after he had started taking it so I don't know if it has made any difference at all (as his was fine) but would be worth putting your oh on some. I've heard some people have had huge success with vitamins. Other things he was told was not to use laptop on his knee and to wear loose fitting underwear.

My DH has low morphology too. But you only need a very small % of normal forms to conceive. 4% normal forms is still ok, DH had 6% when tested. He has been taking Wellman and was told his sample improved. It needn't be a problem. :)

Mine has low ish morphology too at 4% but we were told that since the count was okay it shouldn't be a problem.
Snowbee funny you should say that-OH has the laptop on his knee and I just told him not to and why and he just went "mmmm hmm." And continued lol!
OH is on a multivatim and zinc and also co-enzyme q10, l-arginine, bee propolis and royal jelly as read they can all work wonders for all aspects of spermies lol. Bought the latter 4 for myself but thought he may as well have them too as read good things! Xx

Thank you all for your replies!!

OH is taking wellman but has only been doing so the last month or so. It's also only been six weeks since he stopped drinking (given that we have been TTC for a year...) so I am hoping that the next SA comes back with better results since it can take 90 days for sperm reproduction....fingers crossed! Xx

Hi everyone, I guess it's time to join you all.

So after over two years not preventing it and 11 months actively ttc we have never got a bfp.
We have our first doctors appointment on Friday so I'm praying they can help us and find out if there is anything wrong.
I'm only 25 and oh is 24 so a bit worried they may say to just keep trying.

For past 7 months around a week before I am due on I have been spotting, sometimes only lasting a few hours or other times it lasts a couple of days. Anyone else experienced that?

Fx we all get our bfp really soon!
Xx

Hi Foxy, don't let them fob you off with help, hopefully they will do bloods and arrange a sperm analysis for your OH. I am a spotter before AF too, it has reduced a bit now as I have been prescribed progesterone to use in the luteal phase. I have endometriosis too which can cause spotting for me. Lots of ladies on here seem to have it though. They may send you for a scan to rule out polyps, they did that with me when I mentioned the spotting xx

Hi lisey, thanks for your reply. I was wondering about my progesterone levels as that is what came up on the Internet when I looked. Other syptoms for that is tiredness and low sex drive and I have both of them to unfortunately.
We will see what they say and I'll make sure they don't fob us off then xx

No worries :) I had a lot of the signs of low progesterone, they didn't actually say I have low progesterone, its more of a precaution but I had to go private to get that, I didn't get a lot of help from the NHS as I have a son from a previous relationship xx

I'm glad you are getting help now. I would probably feel happier going private tbh, iv always had better care.

It has been the worst day by far so far today, iv literally cried about 10 times. I really need to find some positivity again or I'm going to go mad. Xx

Foxy, they shouldn't dismiss you for age! Me and OH are both 25 and we have been referred on the NHS after a year, best of luck with it!!

The care is loads better but so so expensive. Hopefully they will get things moving for you straight away xx
