**The No Sleep Club**

Very bizarre day here, who know what will happen tonight:

Put Brody down as usual at 4pm for his nap. He cried and cried cos he's teething and I kept picking him up and comforting him etc.

By 5.30 I decided to give upand give him a yoghurt for his tea, which he ate, then I gave him a bath, he had 3 oz of milk and went to sleep at 6.45 which is VERY early for him.

I wonder when he'll wake up now?!

Must be the weather.

Heidi been very grizzly all day :( - and for her morning nap she slept for 3 hours which is loads more than normal!

ruben still naps well in the day, but his naps were severely disrupted by him having his jabs today... he was fine after the 1st lot, but today he was screaming all afternoon on and off... he still went down ok at 7pm after his bath and boobie and not a sound since - so hoping he will sleep better tonight. he seemed a bit feverish this evening as well so he has had some calpol which calmed him down no end.

as for the baby rice, i want to hold out for as long as possible and let ruben "tell me" when he is ready. i'm going to try and wait a bit longer as i still think he is a little young. he has tried a fingertip of mushed banana and that showed he still has the tongue-thrust reflex so although he is showing other signs i hope this is just due to a growth spurt and that he can last for at least another 4-5 weeks before introducing solids. i don't think he will go till 6 months though, no way... even if that's what i'd like!

lets hope for a better night tonight!

(well he would be at 15lbs 14oz, that's pretty big for 13 weeks...), (

I dont think thats too much for 13 weeks. My girl was on more than that by 13 weeks, I used to panic as it would only be lunch timeand she would have had 4 4oz bottles. She could quite possibly do 28oz in a day and was on small portion of rice at about 3.5 - 4 months. She was a big baby though and was bottle fed.

Awwww sorry to hear that about his jabs. They are awful. heidi was terrible when she had hers (took about a week for it to hit her - but when they did it was a nightmare for days after) I gave her calpol too and it definatley helped.

Hope things are better for you tommorow.

Doesnt sound like he will go up till 6 months till he will need solids, but I totally understand you wanting to wait a while yet. Good luck with it.

think it was mainly due to his jabs (he wouldn't stop crying all afternoon yesterday) but after going down well at 7 i thought he's sleep better last night. not so....

went down well at 11pm, but..... woke at:

1.30am, 3am, 4am, 5am, 6am - and then i gave up and got up around 6.30.

i am shattered!!!!!

Awww petcy I TOTALLY know where you're coming from!

It WILL get better, If you need any ideas and have some free time I would consider re-reading this thread from the start... we have tried EVERYTHING.

Petchy that sounds awful. :( I am really dreading her next set of jabs now.

Hope there is a major improvement today x

Hi everyone

Petchy - you're not alone, two nights ago that sounded like Olivia's waking times! She seems to go from one extreme (9pm - 4.30am then 5am - 7am) to the other (last night it was 8-9.30, 10-2.30, 4-6, 6.05-8). Usually Olivia settles well for her first sleep of the night but then after that first waking she seems to wake frequently. This morning at 6am I didn't feed her I just gave her the dummy (which she spat out) and put her back at the foot of the cot and re-wrapped her blankets round her and she went off on her own and slept til 8am. I'm really trying not to just give her food everytime she wakes up.

Do you notice if Rueben eats more or less during the day preceeding the bad night sleep?

Olivia has learnt a new sound - she sort of curls her tongue at the sides and makes a noise as she sort of pokes her tongue out - she reminds me of when I was at school and we had to do a similar exercise to get the correct pronounciation.

Hope you're ok Emilia.
Urchin - did Brody have another good night?
Lisa - glad to hear Heidi is giving you some rest

lucy - ruben's erratic nighttime sleep has coincided with a 2 week period where he eats for britain! wants food every 2 hrs day and night... hoping it is just one heck of a growth spurt and that it will pass soon. he was such a good sleeper before, i got spoilt! (used to sleep 11-4 or 5, then quick feed and back to sleep till 7)

he always goes down well and if he's not hungry he will send himself back to sleep (all the putting him down awake in the early weeks paid off!) so i know he's hungry when he wakes. i think last night's extreme was also due to his jabs, as he's still grumpy and irritable today and with a slight temp still...

i'm joining although not as bad as some of you matthew went to bed at 8 last night woke at 11???? then 5 then 8ish! considering he was sleeping thru the other week dont know whats going on but he is starting on the sma white today so hopefully that will fill him up more

I haven't been here for a while.... still read your posts though!

Oscar and I have a terrible cold... sleep routine out of the window!
Sorry to hear you're also struggling.... Urchin - perhaps put Brody on the plane to your in laws! :D ???

Anyway - good luck everyone!!

:wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: again.....

he woke at 2.30 and was in and out of sleep non stop until 5.45, crying a lot wich he never usually does (he used to feed and go back down with no fuss) i almost didn't believe it when he drifted off at 5.45 and slept till his 7am waking time.

OH was off from work though (he works nights so it usually all falls on me) so he got up a few times to let me sleep. not that i could the way ruben was crying... he had just been fed and nappy changed too, i wonder what's going on!! think it ma be because i haven't been so rigid with the routine lately, so today i'm following the book pretty much by the letter apart from i have to feed more often as ruben can never wait until the stated times! i'll do that for the next few days and see if it makes a difference. he may have had just a little bit too much sleep during the day lately.

Brody has been fussing in the night cos of his teething.

I have to always have bonjela and his teething beads by the side of the bed.

Petchy are you breastfeeding and following a routine? I tried this with Ella (when she was about 2 months) and lasted all of 3 days. If she's going through a growth spurt then the best thing that I can do is just nurse. The constant feeding is building up my milk supply - by trying to follow a routine that stops your breasts from being able to adjust properly to the amount of milk needed. However if your bottle feeding then I'll just shut up (can't remember, sorry :( )

Petchy it could still be the injections - heidi was like it for days :(

Have u tried calpol?

no good sleep last night for the first time in months!! I just felt like I was with a newborn again!!!! Maheen woke up every 2 hours! horror  !

And it's been a couple of evening that she screams when she is put in her cot! I don't know why! she is just very difficult at the moment! and I have to confess that I haven't got much patience!!

Mel xx

kina: yes i am BFing and following a routine. it works well usually - but then i only use the routine for his naps etc and still BF on demand. if his daytime sleep pattern is messed up, then so are the nights usually!

it was me :D

figured this thread is the most popular on the forum so it should be at the top of the page lol
