**The No Sleep Club**

Petchy alex is always scratching too - i've found nothing that works totally but so far Bepanthan has wroked the best (its actually nappy rash cream but when i told the docs how well it worked on his bum she said try it on his dry patches). it clears it up quite a bit but only while i keep using it. not found a cure as yet!

he scratches at his chest the minute his clothes are off (and at his head when he's annoyed  )
we use socks for mittens now as they stay on way better than mittens.
he even wears them in the bath which looks really funny! he seems to be gettin gout of the habit with his head now so we dont need to use the socks except at night and bath time!

x (sorry to hijak the sleep thread  )

Em78 - can you buy Bepanthan over the counter? as I was going to ring docs today to make appointment for Heidi. I'm using E45 but its doing absolutly nothing (tried oiltum cream as well and that doesnt work)

Or did you have to get it on prescription?

No its just over the counter lisa. its either with all the creams or witht he nappy rash stuff. its about £5/£6 pounds for a big tube but that lasts ages as you only need a little and it goes a long way. there is a smaller tube if you just want to try it out first. if it works you may be able to get your docs or hv to prescibe it?
we have tried loads of stuff - most of it has little effect and just washing him with plain water works as well. so expensive to keep trying all these things that all come in massive tubs - such a waste! thats why i went to docs - she prescribed epaderm and oilatum bath stuff, didnt works so i thought id try the bepanthan as i had it anyway.

Brilliant - thanks Em I will try it. I will get some Oiltum bath too - I think the Johnsons bath is too strong for her skin.

Thanks again

I have heard that Johnsons products can be quite harsh on babies skin. I use waitrose baby range was it is unscented and has been good for Seren who has sensitive skin. The little me range is good as well and their sleepy head dreamtime body cream is so nice and has lavender in.

 really ! :? I thought Johnsons was meant to be good. Glad to hear that though cos its really expensive so might just try oiltum bath and then that cream!

Thanks for the advice girls - will try doing that before I go to the useless doctors!

I've got some of the waitrose botty butter - basically its just olive oil, vanillin and chamomile oil. Smells like a dessert!

its delish, and seems to do the trick

Blimey That sounds sooooo lovely. Cant afford to try both though. Will choose one and then see how that goes - then try the other!

That body butter stuff sounds the best! :)

wohoo! when ruben woke up at 9.30 last night (i usually have to wake him at 10-10.30 for his feed) i thought i was in for a terrible night! but....

he was back in bed again by 10.30pm (i tried to keep him awake till his usual 11pm, but he was having none of it!) and after taking only 1/2 of his top up bottle (usually has 4oz after boobies at this feed) and i heard nothing from him until 4.40am!!!! a solid 6 hours of sleep for me!!!!!!!!!   he then fed from both boobies (a really good feed as they were really full, i felt like jordan!) and went back down again until 7.15am. i usually wake him at 7 to get the routine off well, but was tempted to staying in bed... niiiice....! but ruben obviously knows his wake-up time, he was babbling away and wide awake by 7.15!

good boy ruben!!!

i think (touching every bit of wood around!) i have solved alex's disturbed sleep problem.

he's been having periods of disturbed sleep - fidgets and moans till he wakes up if you dont sooth him - for a while now every night ( having slept through from 10 weeks!). he didnt do it for about 3 nights in a row couple of weeks ago and i strated thinking about it and it was when i hadnt put parsnip in his veggie mix. tried thursday with no parsnip - slept through. last night no parsnip - slept through!

the way he was fidgeting i think it was giving a bit of painful wind. i know it gives me wind !

so fingers crossed we may have cracked it  just thought i'd mention it in case any other babes are on parsnip and not sleeping properly :D

Well done em!

Brocolli does the same thing to Brody.

Last night he fed loads, and I topped him up at midnight. The he woke at 3, then when he woke at 6 he was WIDE awake and very chirpy!

Going to the baby show today but I'm knackered.

Coby has started waking up hungry in the nights again, he has done it for 3 nights running now.

cant give him anymore soilds in the day without cutting a bottle out and i dont want to wean him yet, so i dont know what to do.

guess i will have to put up with broken sleep for a while, at least he is having an extra bottle tho, that should make his weight go back up

layla is he on the hungry baby milk?? i have just started giving matthew it and seems to be ok although the HV said try feeding him more in the day to sleep at night but that doesnt seem to work on the hungry baby milk as he doesnt need it as it keeps him full for longer so not sure where the logic was in that  think they only want him on it to delay weaning! we'll see

Layla couldn't you just give a little bit more solids and an oz or 2 less milk? Or mix the milk with baby cereal or something?

i am mixing his soilds with his milk, hes on 7oz bottles.

he normaly has soilds fr breakfast and dinner along with 4, (now 5) bottles during the day.

today i am going to give him lunch aswell, see if that makes any diffrence.

I havent put him on hungrier milk coz i dont like the idea of it
xx

well thats didnt work, i tried giving him a 3rd meal and he screamed the place down for his milk.

coz he is waking in the nights again im half tempted to bring him off soilds all together and start again, i dont feel like im in control of it right now, its all up in the air, going to speak to my HV tomorrow and see what i should do for the best.

xx
