**The No Sleep Club**

AAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I don't BELIEVE it!

I bathed Brody at 7, then got him ready for bed and he drank 6oz of formula :D
Everything was going well and I was ready for a nice relaxing evening followed by a really early night. He started getting really sleepy, so I took him upstairs, and was getting him into his gro-bag when he threw up EVERYWHERE!

I've had to change my bed, his crib, clean the carpet, my favorite handbag and my slippers are both covered.

Before I started clearing up I took him downstairs and put him in his bouncy chair. So now guess what? He's fast asleep, covered in puke with an empty tummy.
I want to go to bed but until he wakes upand feeds again there's no point. :(

Hi girls!!!

I do not write on here because thomas has been sleeping through for a while now but he sometimes wakes up in the night, last week it was from 2 to 5 am trying to push a pooh and when he does not feed enough. He started not to feed much again, 15 ounces a day :? so nights are not great at the moment but i have at least one night sleep a week.

Lucy, is it really necessary to change the nappy? i found out if i do it, thomas will be very difficult to settle down as this wakes him up totally. So unless he smells of pooh, i do not change him.

Emilia, persists with formula, tom did not want it at first but is ok with it now. buy some small ready made cartons of different makes and see if he prefers one. i tried SMA and there was no way he was having any of it. then i tried apatamil, he took it fine and now we are on cow and gate.

I think there is not much we can do unfortunately. thomas sleeps through when he wants to and sometimes I can have 4 nights in a row with little sleep. But i do beleive that learning to fall asleep on their own help them not to cry when awake during the night. thomas woke up so many times but would talk to himself then fall asleep again. I have been told to put toys too so he can play with them. But i do not like having toys near him in his bed when asleep.

Hope this helped a bit

How did it go with the light lucy? I have found that Heidi prefers the light - she sometimes turns to look at it then falls asleep! We do the same as futuremum and avoid a nappy change if possible.

Heidi has been a star for the last few days. She has a wash about 6.00pm (we do bath in the morning now - I find it wakes her up too much to do it at night!), then she has a bottle. then D/H comes home and takes over - he puts her in bed - she doesnt normally settle but is usually asleep by 7.30-8.00pm.

She then stays asleep till about 10-11pm when D/H will give her a dream feed (I am crap at doing it - I end up waking her up by kissing her too much!!!!)

He then (I hope Im not going to tempt fate for tonight by typing this!!!) puts her back in her cot and she usually sleeps till 5.00-6.00am!!!!!

It all seemed to fall into place a few days ago and the only thing we have done different is get up at 6.30am EVERY morning - without fail. Even if she is sleeping nicely and I could get a lie in - I dont, I get up - and it seems to have made a real difference. Plus, that is the time she will have to get up when I go work. even if she isnt due for a feed - say if she went longer or shorter from the last feed. I still get up at that time.

Petchy - didnt you say you do something similar with Reuben - except its 7.00am!? - I got the idea from you!

Well, the formula that Oscar didn't want to take yesterday, I used to make up a little cereal. I bf him before I gave him cereal... had loooonnnnnggggg bath.... cozy pj's and warm boobie. Aaahhhh - thought makes me tired!!! :D

Anyway, I have been so tired at night that I keep on forgetting to look at the times he's waking. Last night exactly. Don't know what he did, but it was an improvement. I feel like I've had sleep. Just as well, I have a 2.5 hour car journey to make with kids today. Argh.. :(

Hope you had good sleepy.

Urchin... is Brody ok? :?
Lisa... well done Heidi!!
Futuremum... hope you're ok with work and little sleep!
Beanie... sounds like Seren is improving... bummer about small crib!
Lucy... hope Olivia settles with boobie bottle and less light!

Will be back Friday... good luck in the meantime!
Emilia xx

Morning everyone.
Had an unbelievable night last night!

After the puking episode at 8pm I was sure I'd be up all night again. he slept from 8 until 8.50, when I gave him another 4 oz and put him into bed at 9.
I went to bed at 10 and Brody woke up at 3!!!!!!!!!!!

After 3 he did wake up at 5 then 7 :? BUT I'm happy he made it 6 hours straight, he's not done that for months so it must be progress!

Well done Brody!

You must be relieved Urchin - did you get a nice kip!?

Just a thought (can't you tell Heidi is napping like an angel! - I actually have time to come on here!)

Just a few tips I thought I would share with you from various things I have read about babies and sleeping:

1. Stick to a routine (I must admit I think this works cos since I have been getting up at 6.30am every morning - even if she is still sleeping we still get up and get dressed etc) she has slept sooooo much better when D/H puts her to bed at 7.00pm.

She has been doing: 7.00pm in bed - 10-11pm (depending on what time she went sleep) D/H does a dream feed and she has now been sleeping through till 6.00am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. Try a couple of drops of lavender on a cloth draped near the cot

3. Try to not change nappy unless neccssary

4. no over stimulation an hour before bed

Just thought I'd share them with you. I think the lavender one works too.

oooh another one!

I have bought one of those grobags that have a hole in the back so if we are out after bedtime we can still strap her in the car seat and take her out and put her to bed without having to get her changed - they are brilliant. Highly recommended. It also means if we are at, say my Mums, she is ready to nap when we get there! :D

Blimey Im on a roll today!

Hi everyone

 Well done Brody, Urchin you must feel like you had a lie in
Emilia, if you're feeling more rested it must've meant wee Oscar wasn't up as much - sometimes I wish I didn't even look at the clock myself!
Lisa - wow, things have dramatically improved in your house! Well done, you have perserved well. I will try the getting up at the same time and see if it works for me.

The reason why I change Olivia's nappy is to get her to take more milk, otherwise she falls to sleep on my boob after only about 10 mins then when I put her back in her bed she doesn't sleep as long as when I change the nappy which wakes her a bit then she'll drink for another 10-30 mins.

I can't remember exact times for last night but she woke up several times. :wall:

She had her 2nd lot of jabs today so I'll offer her food when she wakes tonight, don't like to think of her needing the comfort and me denying it after those nasty needles. Tomorrow though I'm going to try her with the boobie bottle and try and get her back to sleep without feeding her everytime she wakes.

I tried turning those lights off but unfortunately it didn't seem to make a difference.

One thing I do notice is that Olivia used to sleep for longer spells during the day, now she'll nap for 20 mins max before waking up. It's as if she has lost the ability to stay asleep.

Lucy

Thanks Lucy but I think I may have spoke to soon.!

D/H has been up there hours :D - I bet he aint laughing - she just wont settle. I didnt think she would cos I had to bath her and usually we have bath in the morning. But I have spent half the day trying to get her cradle cap off her head and so she needed a bath tonight as I had rubbed oil into her hair - I think it may of messed up her routine - I wonder if she thinks its morning!??!!

Im in trouble...............................lol

L x

hahaha Lisa I'm the opposite, Brody did such a messy poo all inside his sleepsuit this morning (EW!) so I bathed him then when I usually bath him at night.

He's absolutley knackered now though, and has been asleep about 20 mins. Fingers crossed for tonight!

Lol! Good luck Urchin

If however, it all goes to pot - meet you on here at 2.00am!!!! or some other ridiculous hour!

well after matthew sleeping thru 4 nights on the trot he has had me up at 2 for feeds for the past 2 nights i think he knows i've been going to bed later!! anyway he then sleeps until 6/7ish has another bottle and is now sleeping again one more week and i'm giving him baby rice i think he needs more than just the milk now he drained a 7oz bottle before bed so thought he would sleep thru!

Ooh do you think he will be ready for solids!? Are you excited by that?! I cant wait to try Heidi with them.

She eventually went off last night about 11.00 and slept right through till 6.30am. She was still asleep but I got her up as I messed up the routine enough yesterday by giving her a bath in the evening instead of the morning. Think she got all confused!

Hows everyone else going?

L x

i think he needs solids now he does drink more and only sleeps thru here and there so i will try him if he doesnt want it then fair enough will just be baby rice at 1st then will move on to mushed up veg!! cant wait he stares at us when we eat now so feel really mean just giving him a bottle!

apparantly thats a sign (when they look at you when your eating) you will have to let us know how it goes!!!

L x

Hey lisa that's great news with the sleeping!

Brody fed at 11 then woke at 12.30  I tried everything to get him back off to sleep on his own, but at 1am I gave up and fed him, and put him back into his crib awake.
When I woke up this morning at 7am, I was really chuffed he'd slept so long....only when I rolled over he was next to me in the bed

I have NO recollection of him getting there, so have no idea what time he fed or anything.
Still, waking once between 1 and 7 is still better than it has been.

Brody the amazing teleporting baby

That made me chuckle urchin - just had a vision of brody clambering out of his crib, into your bed and helping himself to a boob

bless him :D
