**The No Sleep Club**

wow girls well done keep it up!

Brody has a cold so his blocked nose is making it really hard for him to feed, especially in the night so not a good night here.

Hi everyone

Afraid it's not good either.. Olivia is waking up every 2/3 hours during the night and not sleeping much during the day (which is ok but I think she was sleeping better at night when she'd slept more during the day). After a feed around 5amish she often then wakes up an hour later.

I have ordered a bottle that looks like a boob - I really hope she takes it because I'd love to be able to give her a bottle before bed (I'm going to try expressing again tomorrow).

Well done Reuben  Petchy - does Reuben have a bottle before bed?

I hope everyone gets a good rest tonight

Lucy x

Had a very bad night, she was up every couple of hours wanting feeding. She usually sleeps from 7-2 but last night she woke up at 10 (as we were out she had 7 oz of ebm), then every couple of hours after that. Am thinking that it is probably time to start weaning her, was really trying to get to 20 weeks but think that I'll give it a go.

does Reuben have a bottle before bed?

yes he has boobie, and as he's not satisfied he has a top up of about 3oz of formula!

Another bad night here.
I keep forgetting to leave him for a few minutes when he wakes up.

Arrrrgh Still every 2 hours! WHY? WHY?!!

On top of that I'm coming down with a cold so the next few days should be a hoot.

Hi.....can i join you???
Hopefully on a temporary basis LOL
Had a really rubbish night last night!!! 12 o clock Charlie woke, i fed her but she wasnt interested, so gave her a dummy and she went off again, 15 mins later and for another hour she cried when she lost her dummy (this is the reason why i was so reluctant to give her a dummy!) 2.30 she woke crying so i offered her boobie, all she id was play and fuss about, so i gave her a bottle of formula, which she took and went off again for about 30 mins then crying again, but didnt want feeding, so i gave her a dummy again, and the same thing happened again for another hour, loosing the dummy and crying, any way by 4 i offered her another feed and she took a lttle bit of boob, and nodded off til 7.
I tried all the usual nappy change, winding, Im now gutted i ever ntroduced the dummy, hope this isnt going to last.
I really feel for you girls, you do a bloody fantastic job getting up so mant times a night, and having siblings to take care of too. Give yourselves a big pat on the back      You are fab mummies i admire you all so much!!!back,

Hiya hels Hope you don't have to stay here too long!

This is what I'm trying now:

I've decided Brody is getting too distracted when I feed him, so when I can I'm going to feed him lying down on the bed where it's quiet. So far so good: he's fed more today.

Also, from now on, naptimes will be in his crib if I'm in the house, far to much I'm rocking him to sleep in his bouncy chair cos it's quick and easy...not any more!

When he first wakes, from nap or sleeptimes, I'm leaving him 5 minutes to see if he needs to sleep more.
He's a very light sleeper, if I sneeze or something he wakes up :?

I need to put him back into his crib after a nightfeed and let him go back to sleep on his own. I started doing this and it worked well, but a few sleepless nights and I'm too zonked to remember to do it...I MUST try and rememebr to stay awake to do this!

I'm having a really early night tonight to make sure I have the energy to do all this.

I think one of my main problems is I stay up late cos I feel ok, then suffer all night because of it. I stop doing my routine cos I forget when I'm half asleep. Tonight my aim is to be in bed by 8pm latest, maybe even 7 if I have everything done.

Also I need to look back over this thread and see what was working for me...it's so useful it's all logged, who slept when and how long for etc!

Good luck Urchin.
Charlie was a `little better last night, so hopefully it was a one off!
She usually wakes only once from 8-7, it used to be 4am now its about 2am.

Well, Oscar was in bed at 7.30pm and I followed at 7.40pm. I eventually fell asleep around 8.30pm... only for Oscar to wake up at 8.50pm
I was mortified.... fed him and put him back in his bed... 5 mins later.... cry, cry, cry..... take in bed with me and plug in.... wakes at 11.30pm.... feed and put him back in his bed again.... 5 mins later.... cry,cry,cry.... take back into my bed..... fools around until 1.05am.

I was in tears.... I am really so tired and yesterday was a shocker of a day! I felt so alone and frustrated.
Anyway - I went out this morning and bought formula to top him up with. Just tried it..... yip, you're right....... he spat it out and gagged!! :(

I honestly can not perfect the bedtime routine anymore. It's impeccable.... I just DO NOT UNDERSTAND what's behind this. I'm going to CT tomorrow for a few days. I'm tempted to go to SLEEP CLINIC!!!

I have been defeted.... :(

Awww sorry you're having such a rought time hun.

I tried all of this last night:

9pm Both to bed with Brody into his crib.
12 Brody woke up. He's been teething so I gave him bonjela and his teething beads. I don't get him out of his crib, just shush him.
12.45 he's hungry now so I give him a feed then put him back in his crib awake.
2am He wakes and grizzles again. I don't feed him or get him out of the crib, but let him chew my finger and his teething beads, he goes to sleep again.
4am He's hungry now so has a feed
7.30 wakes and has another feed

I've done the feeds in bold so you can see I only fed him 3 times when he woke up. Normal he would have a feed every time he wakes, which would have made about 6 times last night.

It's harder than usual...he moans and grizzles and chews his toy when a quick feed would send him off in 2 minutes. I hope in the long term it will pay off though. If you look he didn't wake up at 6ish like he normally would so hopefully he's learning already.

Hope some of this helps someone, it's seems to work a little for me already.

Now I just have to keep doing it and make sure I have the bonjela and teh teething stuff next to my bed every night ready.

ahh girls your doing great it is so hard i have days where i could tear my hair out but matthew has just started to sleep thru (at last) although i thought he would wake up last night. he's also mastering the art of falling asleep by himself last night he had all of 4ozs before bed started messing around with the bottle and staring at me i was trying not to look at him or smile! but put him in his cot awake (he's normally comatose after the last bottle) and he murmered but fell asleep by himself not a peep until 6.45 then back off to sleep until 8.30 when the bloody cat pushed his door open!!! but day times are still a mare he will fight sleep even though he is tired and i am trying not to rock him anymore and put him down awake and spend 10 mins up and down the stairs all good for the jelly belly! but keep perservering it will pay off

You're right michelle, I have found that bad daytime nap habits can turn into bad nighttime habits! I'm not gonna rock Brody in his chair anymore either.

Today Brody looked tired at 10am, so I popped him into his crib awake and he went to sleep, I had a lie down in the bed next to him, and when he woke at 11, gave him a quick feed and he went to sleep till 12.15!

That is absolutley unheard of in this house, I Hope he can keep it up and get some proper naps in so maybe he'll sleep better at night.

fingers crossed

Beanie how're you and Seren doing?

Hi everyone

Sorry that you're all still getting up so much at night.

ARRGGHH! that's all I can say! Last night went as follows:
Olivia went to bed at 9pm,
woke at 2.30pm fed, change nappy back to bed at 3.15
woke at 3.55 ssshh back to sleep at 4am
woke at 4.15am fed and back to sleep at 4.35am
woke at 5.05am gave dummy and sshed back to sleep 5.10am
woke at 6.30am
At this point took her into my bed where she dozed/fed til 8.30am

I'm shattered :wall:
So girls, what is causing her to wake up so often after her first stretch of sleep at night?

Does anyone have any advice?

Lucy x

sorry you had a bad night lucy...

might be a logg shot, but is olivia's room completely dark? even the slightest amount of light can apparently be enough for some babies to wake up completely when they enter their REM (light) sleep. maybe she's one of these babies that do that? it could be just a little light that comes in under the door from a light outside or something?

i think that's the reason ruben still wakes up early some mornings, as i haven't got round to hanging his blackout blind yet...

Abit better int hat she is not waking as frequently but she is still waking. She is starting to get too big for her crib so am going to have to put her in her cot soon and that doesn't fit in our bedroom so she'll be in her nursery  Not looking forward to that at all.

Thanks Petchy, I put black out lining on her curtains so she doesn't get the early morning light but there is a light on her monitor and I don't shut her bedroom door so gets light from the nightight on the landing. It's worth a try so I'll switch both off tonight and see if it helps.

Thanks

Lucy

let me know if it makes a difference lucy!

Lucy... how did the boobie bottle go? I tried to give Oscar some formula today - no luck.
I'm hopeful every night that it's going to be a good one... Let's hope it is for all of us!!
