***September 2018 Mummies***

How’s everyone’s bank holiday been? We’ve had lovely weather thankfully so managed to get so much done. Went through my DD’s clothes and separated them into things that I wanted to keep, things to sell and things that could be used if the baby is a boy.
We had our scan today, the sonographer was training and she took about 45 minutes to do the scan because she didn’t really know what she was doing. Another sonographer took over towards the end and just powered through it. I was so uncomfortable at this point and needed too wee so badly. I started to panic because she was taking so long and she was quiet so I thought something was wrong but baby is growing perfectly :)
She asked us if we wanted to know the gender and I hesitated for a moment as I know my partner didn’t really want to find out but I said yes. I’m not afraid to admit that I thought I was going to be disappointed if we had another girl but I had convinced myself that the baby was a girl so that it wouldn’t feel like such a blow if she said it was a girl. I am happy to say that I am having a boy though. My partner is overjoyed but we’re leaving it as a surprise for family and friends until the birth. No denying that baby is a boy though :D:cheer:
Congratulations on your healthy little boy. x

I'm having a bit of a miserable week, as my feet and legs are completely swollen. Possibly a combination of flying, the heat and lots of walking, but that on top of a sunburn and I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself! Apart from that, baby seems happy and kicking about all times of night.

Is everyone in the FB group now?

I'm feeling shite again, boo. 20weeks scanning Friday, feels like I've not seen baby for aggggessss. (Well it has been over 8 weeks I suppose) haha.

How's everyone doing? I've felt baby since about 14 weeks, but since I turned 19 weeks I've felt them NON STOP. I can't believe I have at least (late babies) 20 weeks left of this madness.

Hope you're all well Xx

Aww diamond that's amazing on the movement and scan is soon! I'm in the group but I don't think it's active at all?

Im feeling baby strong kicks. My husband can feel them too and you can see them :) we have our scan on Monday I'll be 21 weeks. Can't believe everyone is past the half way mark already. I feel like baby is sitting low bc I feel so much pressure down there. We came to spain again yesterday and moved into a new place which is nice but was dirty so I've just been cleaning and scrubbing everywhere like crazy. No bump yet but I don't mind, I'm not a fan lol

I feel like the first half of my pregnancy went so fast and now it’s dragging. Feeling lots of movements but my partner has only felt the baby move once as he doesn’t have the patience to sit and wait for the movements like I do :)
I had the dreaded calf cramps last night. I had not long fallen asleep, my partner was still downstairs and I woke up screaming. He came running up to see what was wrong, I was in tears and I even said that I’d rather be giving birth than having leg cramps :shakehead: I’m surprised that I didn’t wake my DD up as I screamed so loudly :oooo:
I’ve gone back to working in the week now so that I can have weekends with my partner and DD before the 3 of us become 4

I had my first bout of leg cramps too! It literally is more painful than most of labour (apart from the last crowning bit), but my husband just thinks they are normal legs cramps and that I'm soft - well annoying!
I'm trying everything I read on the internet to stop them: bananas, tonic water, hot bath before bed and doing leg stretches.

Any move or stretch in bed, point your toes up to your knees as you do it. It's the only thing that stops/prevents cramps for me.

Hi ladies! It’s been a little while since I’ve been on... found out I’m having a boy! Due 19th September! We are going back for a second anomaly scan tomorrow as the bugger wouldn’t roll over so they still need to assess his face, heart and stomach! Feeling a little nervous about it!

Don't be. I had the same and mine wasn't playing ball the second time either at 23+5 so really needed doing then. We were there for bloody ages to get what was needed of the heart and stomach but all was fine. It's just really difficult to get what they need when baby isn't cooperating. You'll be fine and congratulations on being team blue. Xxx

Thank you! Everything was fine! Was lovely to see him again :)

I had horrendous cramps with my first. I stopped stretching my bottom half when im in bed and that really reduced them.

I went in for my scan Monday and I found a male student sonographer there and they said they would scan me vaginally first and my husband couldn't be there and then he could come in for the regular scan. I wasnt comfortable getting a vaginal ultrasound done by a male student doctor so I asked if he could leave the room for it and they flat out refused. It was basically either he does the scan or I don't get any scan so I just walked out. This is in Spain btw not the uk. I was so upset practically cried on the bus home. We have our flights booked for the move back home on the 19th so hopefully I'll get seen with more respectful treatment then...

Well within your rights to do so and I'm shocked they wouldn't allow your husband to be with you, especially with a man doing a vaginal. Fucks say, how did they think the baby got there? You should have been able to have hubby with you as reassurance with a man doing the scan. I'm very glad you walked out, I would have too!

I’d also refuse a male doing an internal scan unless my partner was present. Have you registered with a doctor/midwife ready for when you return to the UK? Hopefully they will offer you all the necessary checkups for their records and for your own peace of mind.

Yeah it was all very strange...
I have registered with the gp and have seen my midwife and had a NHS 12 scan so all is good on that side thank goodness.

That's so shocking! Plus why on earth do you need a vaginal scan at 22 weeks? Sounds like some dodgy stuff going on there!

I know we winge about the NHS a lot, but things like this really make me appreciate what we've got. Get back to the UK as soon as you can!

Sorry I have been so quiet lately, been on away lots and only just catching up with things now! Hope everyone is okay? Nearing the third trimester now (eep), which is slightly scary but exciting too I guess.

That's awful, you were completely within your right to refuse that. Such a shame they couldn't just have let your husband be there.

Hi ladies, sorry I’ve been so quiet!

Are any of you getting really bad period like cramps? Since yesterday afternoon I’ve had cramps that at times are really bad and my lower tummy goes rock solid. I’ve had it all day today and they’re really making me worry and feel sick! They hurt into my back too. The pain is nearly always there but gets worse when I get the cramps and tightening. Baby is lying very low so I’m hoping it’s just from that! I’m away from home too so can’t pop to my local hospital to ask!

No bleeding etc just this horrible pain. Baby has been moving but not as much as usual until I’ve just laid down and she’s going mad!

I haven't had period like cramps, but my stomach does tighten up and feels uncomfortable but I think that's just BH. I do find when baby is laying low that feels particularly uncomfortable though, hopefully it's just the same for you. Have you got the contact details of your midwife centre with you, might be worth giving them a quick ring to see what they suggest. x

Thanks hun, unfortunately didn’t bring any details with me but I’m feeling much better today! Still have the tightening but the cramps have gone.... phew!!

CC, im so glad you're feeling better today. Definitely try and get midwife contact details as you never know when you might need to ask a question or anything.

Can't believe a lot of us are going to be moving to third trimester this week. Making me nervous!
