Opinion on a girls name please....

I love love love Juliette! We were close to choosing Julietta for ours but it sounds far too similar to our daughters name.
I love it! Both Juliette and Julianna!
Lettie/Ettie could be a shortened version of it?

Love Juliette too. Or Julieanna. I would shorten it to Ettie which is very cut in itself. Juliette goes lovely with James x

I am going to murder my OH before January!

He has vetoed Juliette now as he reckons everyone will call her Julie... Urm no people will call her Juliette as we will correct them and when she is old enough she will correct them :wall2: :wall2:

I like it, it's uncommon but not massively "out there", it's classic (Shakespeare connection), it's got lovely heritage (the French spelling of an Italian name!) and it goes so well with James.

Going to test it out on my Mum and sister. Reckon my sister will hate it and my Mum will love it.

My daughters name is really long and everyone always asks what we shorten it too and I always say that we don't shorten it to anything. So no one does, except for my brother! But he does it to wind me up! She can shorten it to whatever she likes when she's older but for now, my baby my rules!

Honestly if you tell people not too, they won't!x

Ettie is super cute...dont massively like Juliette but only because i know a few
how about Lyra?
or Charlotte?
or Poppy

We did discuss Lyra, it's a constellation and OH is a massive stargazer (we have a £500 telescope at home!!)

Not sure what OH didn't like about it, I don't love it though.

Poppy is my Mum's cats name.

Charlotte was a frontrunner last time round BUT this time neither of us are massively keen.

I keep going back to Isabelle, wish it wasn't so bloody popular :wall2: :wall2:

Isabelle is nice...

We've picked out our girls name and it is Isabella Jocelyn.. We will probably have a nickname of Izzy or Bella

Don't worry about the popularity as loads of names could become popular! i would just pick what you like>!
lyra is also from the phillip pullman trilogy.....its lovely
Isabella Lyra or Isabelle Lyra is lovely
we would have had Hana or Alys (welsh spellings of Hannah or Alice (to sttae the obvious!))

It's a difficult one because I'm like you I didn't want a really popular name but on the same hand a name that isn't that popular at the moment could all of a sudden become really popular. For example my friend called her little girl Isla 5 years ago and I hadn't really heard of the name that much then. Fast forward to now and I know loads and it's top 5 xxx

Yeh as Taffy said......you can never predict what is going to become popular! so just go with what you like!

Hahahaha!! Just read all of this and loving Zilch!!! Ahem, sorry!

What about Catherine/Katherine, Kathleen, Mandy, Violet, Constance (Connie), Victoria, Vivienne, Elspeth?? x

Why does it matter if the name is popular? Go for a name you love regardless? Personally I think James and Elizabeth sound lovely together.

As for the shortening thing, I think your OH is right, people will shorten names regardless, especially classmates. I also love the name Charlotte but I am not a fan of 'Charlie'. I am so put off by the name Lewis as the Lewis at our school ended up having the nick name of Bog Roll

We like Elizabeth but don't love it?

I do still like Charlotte but OH isn't as keen.. one of our nephews is a Charlie so she would never be shortened to that and we both dislike "Lottie".

We're still mulling things over and getting nowhere :wall2:

Thank God we still have 20 weeks ha ha!

Chloe is a family name, Rebecca is OH's ex SIL and I work with Emily (who is lovely and I adore her but I have strong associations with the name already?)

Sorry ladies, I am going to drive you all mad.

My OH is even worse :wall2:

Yup, plenty of time yet. I'm so glad I got the girl name sorted before my son was born. We have the opposite problem in that we can't settle on a boys name.

Okay, our girls name is Lucie, if we had ended up having two girls, we'd have named them Lucie and Charlotte. It was going to be Lucie and Eve until my friend called her daughter Eve. Good thing about a name like Eve is that it can't be shortened!

We had no boys name this time either.

We're basically crap.

We have big families so lots of names we can't use. Lucy is lovely but another family name, he likes Amy but my Ex (was with him 5 years) had a sister called Amy.

We're running out of names.

Doesn't help that my OH likes very "80's" names.. Nicole, Joanne, Shannon, Lisa :wall2:
