So I had my midwife appointment yesterday, baby and measurements are brilliant he's head down and he's measuring at 35 weeks which is brilliant as I'm 35 tomorrow so all looks good :D but I got told off for drinking raspberry leaf tea too early ooops my bad! She said I could have premature labour as it softens the cervix I thought it just helped with labour!!!!! So I haven't had any more I'm on decaf tea and peppermint tea just invade but will go back on it at about 38 weeks instead. Anyone actually have prem labour by drinking it? I've not heard of it happening before xxx

I got told off too haha, I started at 33 weeks but got told by my midwife to wait until 36 xx

It isn't supposed to bring on labour though it's not what it's designed for so I was a bit shocked by her reaction xxx

I have read millions of stories from ladies who have drunk raspberry leaf tea and none of them went into labour early they all just said it made labour quicker x

I've been taking the tablets since 32 weeks, isn't it just supposed to tone the uterus rather than bring on labour? Thought evening primrose oil was the one that softens the cervix. Oh well lol xx

I'll be going back on it then she just got me confused on it and worried. Xx

I started on the tea at 32 weeks last time - gradually building up to 4 cups a day and started on the capsules aswell in the later weeks. My daughter was born at 39 + 5 after a relatively short and problem free labour. This time I started about 33 weeks and I'm currently drinking 2 cups a day - im now 36 weeks. Do what's right for you though - if it worries you, don't start until later on xx

I was only having 1 cup a day and had a good routine down. I'm not worried anymore it'll all be fine :) xx

I think your midwife probably got confused between raspberry leaf and primrose oil capsules that you put up your lady bits - they soften cervix. As doll_eyes says all raspberry leaf tea does is strengthen your uterus muscles so you have more productive contractions and labour is easier. I am buying some RLT today and will be drinking it hun and I am 34 weeks xx

I was told by midwife to only start after 36 weeks, I started drinking 2 cups a day at 36 weeks and my waters broke at 37+3. Could have been the tea...but might have happened anyway! X

Ps. On the back of my box of tea, it has a warning not to drink during early pregnancy. I can only assume it's due to possibly bringing on labour xx

I took rlt from around 33 weeks pregnant last time. Still ended up with a 32hr labour with forceps and double pph with 2x blood transfusions, so i dont think i will try it this time either (although my princess was 2 weeks early). I actually believe it made my labour worse as my uterus.was that "toned" and effective i was raking up contractions at 100% on the monitor from the start of my labour with no build up. Also i was taking epo capsules which ive since found have links to hemerrhaging so again will avoid. Trying au natural this time as cant be any worse than last lol!

Wow lots of different views and how it's worked for you ladies, I got told our hospital only allows your labour to go on so long but then again of baby is okay then they don't need to get involved I don't think I'll go back on the tea soon and see how it goes if I go at 38 weeks I'll be chuffed purely because I can't wait to meet my little man :) but I'm also nervous haha xxx

I started drinking it about 35 weeks I think last time and I went 9 days over due so defo didn't make me go premature, but my labour was short and I barely pushed and he was out which I'm positive it helped with. I'm defo using it again this time as it did seem to help my contractions
