I've been thinking about boy names for ages now but can never come up with one I like! Well afew weeks I finally came up with little mans name and told OH and he didn't say yes but didn't say no but knows how much I love the name!! So everytime I talk to little man I call him by the name I've chosen and he kicks back.
Well just been on the phone to OH and said we need to sort out names I.E middle name for him and I said you do like the first name I've chosen and he was like it's alright!!! Grrrr I was like you need to say yes or no then he started coming up with stupid names to call our baby!! Now I feel like I can't call my son the name I love :( do you think I should put my foot down?
Is everyones OH acting like this or is it just mine being a pain?!

I've hardly cried through this pregnancy but when I was talking to OH I was so close to tears cos it means I've got to find another name I like and it's so hard!! I like different names like your noa. I like names you don't hear very often so I know it's gonna be hard to find another name like Rudy :( x x

I agree...put ur foot down,my DH is just the same and comes up wiv stupid or inappropriate names xx

To be honest chaz, if he didnt want it he should have said so from the beginning and tried to come up with some good names himself. He didnt tho so just say, sorry but it will be Rudy.
And perhaps let him choose middle name? X

My husband basically has no opinion on the subject at all until i think i have made progress on choosing names and he swoops in and poops all over them :wall2: and doesn't offer any alternatives.

I think the issue is that unusual names tend to provoke a love/hate response - maybe your OH hates the name but your enthusiam makes him shy of telling you?

Maybe you could get some opinions from other friends and family?

I was really set on the name Mimi if i have a girl and my husband hated it and i just told him that i didn't care and put my foot down.

Then i mentioned it to my brother and his girlfriend and you should have seen their faces - genuine horror and disgust haha :) I don't think i'm going to use the name Mimi anymore...

I know the general public doesn't matter - but i want my family to at least not dislike the names i choose.

Time for a third opinion?

Aw mimi's a gorgous name! I've only told my family and my 2 sil's and everyone except my mum loves it! My mum said she's not sure but then didn't like lacey either! The only thing my family have said is not to spell it that way but to spell it Rudi instead!
I'll have to keep dropping Rudy's name into convo's and see if Tim gets the hint hehee

My dh and I really couldn't agree on boys names and had lots of discussions about it. He would never have dictated a name but was very keen that we were both 100% on whatever we chose. Luckily we both instantly loved the girls name we came up with.

I wouldn't call bubs anything dh didn't particularly like as she's ours equally but I would insist we sat down and discussed it until we came up with something we both love and then perhaps use the original name as a middle name. X

Rudy is a lovely name, I used to work with a Rudy. I also love Mimi, how gorgeous and different! My MIL has disliked every single girls name I have put forward, especially Minnie - my Great Grandmother's name. I love it, its so different. Bah to other people!

Luckily Lee likes my choices, I only have 2 and we're gonna decide when he's born to see which one he suits best..

I love the name Rudi! I think you should put your foot down!

I think it's a lovely name. Sorry but I do think you need to both love the name. I would be gutted if my baby had a name that I just thought was ok, even if it did make OH happy. I don't think it matters what anyone else thinks though x x x

I need to love the name, i never had any other names then Noa and Naima. But i had to choose a muslim name, as OH would not have it any other way. He said to me, its not about having a "nice" name, its about having a "proper" name.
WHAT?
luckly i fell in love with Noa and Naima and when i put it to OH he said yes.
The only name he suggested was Mohammed- im sorry but i would rather have done a runner to be honest.

What is a proper name?! I love Noa x

My other half got to pick my first little boys name Tre - so now it is my turn!!!lol

My other is useless we originally liked Caleb but then i went off it so we decided on Donovan, now im in love with Donovan OH has decided he wants Caleb again, i originally liked it but i just dont think its suits our sons character now, i know its silly coz bubs isnt even out my tummy yet but i just know he will be a lil Donnie more than a Caleb so i have had to put my foot down and said that we will use Donovan and oh can choose middle name otherwise we will keep going in circles.... might seem harsh and selfish but if im pushing our boy out i want to make sure i get the name i love lol!!!!

Is Rudy supposed to be pronounced "Ru-dee" or "Rud-dee"?

I can't quite figure it out and it's making my head hurt :(

I presume Ru-dee but Rudy/Rudi, etc make me want to say Rud-dee - even though i say Judy like Ju-dee.

Rudey is pronounced Ru-dee to me.

Ru-dee = Rudey, Rudee, Reudy or Rhudy...

Lots of spelling possibilities! Hehe :)

If i suggest a name OH doesn't like he pulls a face but we have a list of about 3 of each now and i think we will wait for when baby is here!! I really liked the ides of having my grandad's middle name and OH's grandad who he never met's name as middle names and he didnt think much of it until i said how nice they sounded together now he tells everyone as if it was his idea!!! But it might be babies first name now as he likes it so much!!!
