March 2021 testing thread

@Mrsbridge17 thanks for tip think I’ll order some cheap ones. I used those whilst TTC number 2 but I never got a dark line even with testing twice per day. I’m only planning to use CB to get an idea of my fertile days, in general aim to BD every other day from Cd7 to Cd20 but find it exhausting to fit in! Told my husband need to up our game if serious about TTC x
Haha it is hard work trying to do it every other day

I know a couple of you guys have PCOS so thought I’d ask in here.

I have been reading up and I’m 99% certain I have insulin resistant PCOS as all of the symptoms below I have

  • Cravings for sweets and salty foods
  • Darkening of skin in the groin, armpits, or behind the neck
  • Fatigue
  • Frequent or increased urination
  • Increased hunger or thirst
  • Tingling sensation in the hands of feet

  • I was just wondering if any of you have this type and how they diagnose it as I don’t think it looks like a hba1c would be sufficient x
Can your gp run tests to check if you have Pcos? X

I am having some done on the 23rd as that looks as though it’ll be CD3 at the moment. They are looking at LH & FSH I’m not sure if that is for PCOS or not x
Oh I dont know if it is or not.. hopefully that will give you more answers. Xx

I've just ordered some easy@home opks which are arriving tomorrow to use instead of these one steps i have.

I'll start testing as soon as AF finishes

I like their OPK still on the fence with their PG tests but I’ve got another 20 of them to use now so I’ll probably use them and just ignore any squinty lines x

I've got loads of one step opks left but I'm going to use the easy@home instead when they arrive. I've got a 10 pack clear blue too but I'll save them till I think I could be near.

Yeah you may as well use them whilst you have them xx

Hey sorry thread hopping.

In the UK, the generally don't care about insulin resitence regarding pcos. They wont run tests and they wont treat it unless your found to be diabetic, in which case they will offer metformin. You might get a sympathetic GP who will prescribe it if you aren't classed as diabetic but generally you neednto get a private prescription for it.

They will teat you for pcos if they or you suspect you have it. Usualy cycle day 3 and 21 bloods looking for LH, FSH and ovulation is the first thing they will do. They'll test partner with a SA too and then if its found that either you have a problem like not ovualting/ something wrong with SA they'll refer you to a fertility consultant.

They'll do tests, bloods, HSG etc, and will then offer you treatment if you don't already have a child, and fall into their criteria, BMI etc. Usually ovulation induction and IVF. Obviously this all varies from area to area xxx[/QUOTE]

Definitely could be a contributing factor. They won't generally diagnose pcos in the UK unless you meet the criteria. Which is this, photo from NHS website.

I've been through it all, and was diagnosed ticking 3 out of 3 of the criteria when I was 14. Xx

Thanks both. Looks like I might have to give up on the idea of baby #3 then I don’t love doctors at the best of times and if they don’t care about insulin resistance what chance have I got :(

No don’t give up on the idea, stay positive hun.
Wait to see what your tests show in March if you haven't already caught before hand, and then see what they say they can do to help. Xx

Th metformin would be treating the IR if thats what your on for T2 .

Although, I tried metformin they wouldn't prescribe it because I wasn't diabetic but I paid privately for it. Tried it for a year and it did nothing for ovulation or my non existent cycles.

The only thing that seemed to work for me was a brand of inositol called MyOva, brought my period back by the end if the month sns kept them at a regular 35/36 days for a year before we fell pregnant with DS1 after 7 long years of trying eveything under the sun.

How long are your cycles? As long as your ovulating the pcos shouldn't really be hindering you conceiving as far as I'm aware. They treat the not ovulating, nothing else xxx

How long are your cycles usually?

I got metaformin privately aswell. But thay was only because my gp wouldnt pescribe without me seeing a consultant. Now i have had the pescription from a private consultant my gp is happy to pescribe as he knows the consultant has diagnosed me

None of the GPS at my surgery or even our NHS fertility consultant would prescribe it for me. We paid privately for a year but it did zilch.

At 30 quid a bottle he myova worked wonders for me. Nothing else worked. Not even clomid xx
