**March 2018 Mummies - Tri 2**

Hey girls

I had an appointment with midwife and she said no sex or "o" until January. Well it's ok. We can wait.

She also said no tight clothing around the waist. Tights and leggings should go over the bump.

How are you all doing? I haven't decided about whooping cough vaccine. Did you have it ?

We'll it's not that long now :) re tight clothing, i hate having anything tight around my bump, over the bump trousers are so much comfier. Will be a struggle to go back to normal clothes!

I had my whooping cough jab a few weeks ago. To be frank I can't see any reason not to, the risks to the baby are too great. It's not one of those illnesses you hear much about these days, but that's because of treatments like the vaccination - it used to be much more common and much more dangerous, especially for the very young. If it helps I had no side effects other than a slightly sore arm!

Merry, I was thinking the same. So I guess I need to book whooping cough jab and it's done. Rather than think about it too much.

Still having back pain. It comes and goes. How are you feeling? x

Ah shame oh well a small price to pay for being on the safe side.
I hate anything under my bump, much prefer over the bump stuff.
I got the whopping vaccine a few weeks ago, it was grand, just had a heavy feeling arm. I was reluctant to get it but a colleague in work didnt get it and her baby daughter got whooping cough when she was 6 weeks old and had it for almost 6 months, she said it was awful, they had to prop the baby sleeping as upright as possible and her and her husband were afraid to sleep for when the baby took a coughing fit.
I know its only one bad story and I am wary of any vaccines, but I got it anyway.

I am good apart from the usual tiredness and minor aches by 9pm when its an effort to get off the sofa and in to bed!
Have almost all my Christmas shopping done so I dont have to fight through crowds or think about it nearer the time. We have a busy run from now til Christmas so want as much rest in between as possible.

I hate having jabs (although always get them) but honestly it was fine - barely noticed it :)

I'm pretty good, still getting a few aches and pains around my bump and really look forward to sitting in a comfy seat when I get home from work, but overall I'm still feeling very fortunate in terms of symptoms!

Had to laugh at work today - I was congratulated by another teacher as 'you can't tell you're pregnant at all from behind!' Wasn't really sure what to say to that, it's not as though I've got any control over it :oooo: There's also plenty of time for that to change yet!

How's everyone else?

You're so organised - I have bought a grand total of 4 presents so far, really need to get myself sorted :) To be fair I do a lot online (no car) so it's not as pressing!

Girls

I think I will have it done too. People keep telling me how horrible that whooping cough is. So I watched youtube video and after that there is no doubt Im booking it.

So far I have only purchased 2 Christmas gifts. I guess thats a start. I like shopping online, but I return 90% ha ha.

Funny joke Merry! :)

I am cooking beef tonight and the smell makes me feel sick. I think no beef for me for a while.

Hello ladies. Just popping in to say a quick hello and see how you're all doing. I wasn't in the March Mummies Tri 1 thread for long sadly and had two more losses after that but, here I am, 7+5, had a scan, seen a heartbeat and all looking good, so not bad for a geriatric 39yr old first timer, lol.

Really hope all your pregnancies are going well...clock is ticking, it's really not that long for you all now. How exciting :) xxx

So glad to hear you've had good news about this one, a lovely early Christmas present for you! Best wishes for the next few months :)

Thank you Merry :)

Aww GG. That is great news.

How is everyone doing?
I’ve found that pregnancy insomnia has started! I’m going to be exhausted by the time the baby arrives if it continues like this!

Are some of us now onto tri 3? I can’t believe how fast this is going!

Well I'm often awake for a few hours in the night, but I have had insomnia off and on for years so not sure I can blame it on the pregnancy! It's ok though, I know that I can cope fine with sleep deprivation so I don't need to worry when baby arrives, I'm used to it :)

There doesn't seem to much agreement online when third tri officially starts - I thought it was end of week 27 but who knows... I'm 27 weeks tomorrow so certainly getting there! I can't believe how quickly time has gone since week 12 - I think once you start showing and feeling movements it's like time speeds up!

I've started making more of a concerted effort to read my hypnobirthing book, don't want to leave it till the last couple of weeks and then panic :)

Merry, are you planning to try hypnobirthing? Midwife briefly mentioned it. Is the book good?

I am, I'm planning a home birth and all the research I've done suggests it's a really good way of preparing yourself even if you plan to be in hospital. I know it sounds a bit new age and hippy but there's loads of proper scientific evidence that the more relaxed and in control you feel, the easier the birth will be. Our midwife teaches an antenatal course on it but unfortunately it's booked up until the beginning of February which is a bit late for me so I've gone for the book instead!

There's lots of versions of it but as far as I can tell they are all fairly similar. I've gone for the Katherine Graves book and CD, just the one the midwife recommended. I haven't finished it yet but I like the look of it, so far it's basically lots of relaxation exercises that you practise and practise until it's second nature to go into that relaxed state. Have a look at some videos of hypnobirthing, it's incredible how in control the women seem to be!

Merry, you are so brave girl!

I would struggle to relax in front of OH cause he likes to cuddle and if he sees me in pain he tries to help and there is no way I can relax then.

I will rely on gas and air as I have tried it once before and it really helped. Not sure if its strong enough during birth. I dont know how epidural feels will try and get it through without it.

Im still waiting for my scan in Jan to see if placenta has moved up to be able to give natural birth may be thats why Im not reading anything about natural relaxation. Cause I don't know which way its going to go. :)

Thats amazing Merry!! I cant wait to hear how you get on with it! My yoga class combines a lot of breathing and relaxation techniques combined with hypnobirthing. i find it really helpful and hoping I remember it all come the labour!

Charlotte also I am hoping to rely on gas and air alone. Ideally I would like a water birth with as little pain relief as possible but at the same time I am remaining open minded as anything can happen!

Had 25 week midwife appointment yesterday , even though Im 27 weeks, it was the first time I had saw anyone since my 20 week scan so was lovely to hear the heartbeat and get bump measured, e.t.c. All becoming VERY real now! Less than 13 weeks til due date eeekk!!

Where did second trimester go? I am still feeling pretty good energy wise and getting used to my bump, its a nice size, big but not too big! Just having the usual aches in my hips if I am on my feet too much. Loving feeling all the babys movements and little kicks/punches. Am glad to keep busy until Christmas then put my feet up more.

Is anyone else getting the occasional stabbing pain in their boobs?

Also how are everyones hormones?
I thought mine had settled but have the odd feeling of wanting to cry a lot or go into a fit of anger at the smallest thing!!
xx

Loveandpeace, I totally understand you. I sat in the bedroom the other day and had a little cry. Not sure why. Just felt sorry for my cat who is very stressed and feliway barely helps. Vet said he has behavioural issues. He is struggling cause he is very jealous.

I'm 26 weeks today. I look bigger than I feel. Boobies look smaller compare to my bump. Ha ha.

I keep buying Christmas gifts every day and I love it. Not long and I will be wrapping them. :)

Oh dear how do you think your cat will cope or react when the baby arrives?

This is the most organised I have been at Christmas with almost all shopping done and will have wrapped this weekend. I am now thinking forward to Jan and Feb birthdays lol! I want Jan and Feb to be as relaxed as possible with little to do. I will probably be bored climbing the walls and time will drag in lol.
