**March 2018 Mummies - Tri 2**

Merry I did hypnobirthing with my first. It was an indication under consultant led care and it was amazing. I only needed 30 minutes of gas and air. My oh came to the classes with me and it was the best thing we did. He was brilliant during the labour and really helped to keep me calm. We also nade sure that from now on we listened to the relaxing music that we were going to use in the labour and that really helped as well.

We also noticed that lo reacted when she was born to this music, she was so calm.

Loveandpeace, omg you finished your Christmas shopping already. Ha ha very organised indeed. Im always last minute.

Im not sure what to do with my cat. He is extremely jealous. I have feliway and stress tablets for him and still he is nuts.
Well I hope he loves our baby :)

Lozza, sounds encouraging but Im not very brave. I will stick to gas and air. But I will also read about hypnobirthing and Im sure I will find there something useful for me.

Charlotte - ha, I don't think I'm brave - honestly the idea of being in a hospital ward fills me with dread, I'm really not a people person and just want to be in my own space! I'll happily have gas and air but there isn't really any other medication I'd choose to have - the thought of an epidural really freaks me out :)

Lozza - glad to hear from someone who's actually done it, it's one of those things that seems too good to be true in some ways! I've heard a few people talking about how their babies were so calm afterwards.

I'm still waiting for any hormonal breakdowns, so far I've been boringly normal throughout! I've been particularly hormonal during my periods either, don't know if there's a connection.

Hi ladies,

The second trimester has just flown by hasn’t it!! I’ll be 27weeks on Thursday!! Not had my 26 week check yet, the appointments not until 12th December when i’ll be nearly 29 weeks! What happens at the appointment?

I did hypnobirthing with my son and had an extensive birth plan which included a water birth and as natural as possible. Unfortunately it didn’t go to plan. I went 10 days overdue and was then induced. The labour was very difficult, everything went wrong, the epidurals and the other drugs didn’t work properly and gave no benefit. It was also very slow, took me 36hours to get to 8cm dilated and then resulted in an emergency c-section as I had stopped progressing. It was the best ending though as he was 10lb12 and they told me it was very unlikely I would of got him out naturally anyway. All that being said, the hypnobirthing was a BIG help throughout the labour and c-section as I managed to stay very calm and focussed on the job in hand!! I would highly recommend it to everyone, whether hoping to give birth naturally or with an elective section. I’m having an elective this time around and will be using the techniques to get me through it.

Hope I haven’t scared anyone, just wanted to give my honest experience. Its obviously different for everyone and very rare to have a baby as big as mine 🙈 xx

Thats interesting about the relaxing music Lozza, I might look into that for myself and find music to play from now on to the baby and have it playing for the birth.
I really dislike the thought of an epidural as well and not being able to feel anything at all below the waist. Even reading about all the other pain relief makes me hope I dont want or need it except gas and air. I dont want the labour slowed down or anything being passed to the baby.

Dee83 as with your experience it shows that just anything can happen and a birth plan can go out the window! I think its a case for hoping for the best but having some sort of preparation for the worst case scenario also. At the end of the day as long as myself and baby are healthy, i will happily go through anything to get them to arrive safely.

xx

Hey girls how is everyone doing?

I went to the dentist today. Usually I only go in summer but my gums are a bit sensitive now. He checked and said that I'm brushing too hard. Oh well. Need to get softer brush heads.

Also the dentist recommended to get water floss. Has anyone tried it?

I've never used one of these. Are they good? He kept emphasizing how important oral hygiene is and water floss is what I need.

No idea what that is, sorry Charlotte! Sounds like some sort of spray thing?!

I'm feeling increasingly pregnant if you know what I mean - my worst problem is still just some heartburn, but I'm suddenly getting big enough that I really notice my bump now. When I bend over to put my socks on, or when I go to squeeze past someone and don't quite fit :) I don't think I'm particularly large but I guess there's just more of me than there usually is! 28 weeks tomorrow!

Hey girls, how are you all? Sorry for being so quiet. I'm also suffering with really bad heartburn. So bad that I woke up choking on sick on Friday night. It tends to be ok during the day but awful at night. I've got ranitidine but that doesn't do much. Of the joys eh! I'm 27 weeks on Friday. The time is flying by.
I had a bit of a clear out yesterday and found my son's baby clothes, car seat, crib etc so will get all that washed and ready in the next few weeks. I'm also planning on sorting his room out as they will have to share eventually.
Hope you're all doing well xx

Ive never heard of water floss Charlotte?

We will soon be on to a Tri 3 thread! Crazy! Im 28 weeks now so less than 12 weeks til due date, scary when you say it like that! Once Christmas os over it will be all guns blazing getting baby stuff and room ready and hospital bag sorted.

Merry same here I am properly pregnant now, bump really sticking out now and in the way of some tasks lol. Definitely interested to see how much further it grows in the next couple of months.
Only just starting to get a bit of lower back pain and some insomnia mixed with getting comfortable at night time.
Hope every one is keeping well x

Ha ha girls I was so hormonal yesterday. I changed my mind about the water floss. I will stick to a regular one.

I'm 27 weeks today. Feels like its going quicker now. I think I look bigger than I feel.

Have you all done Christmas shopping? :)

Hey all, I set up the new thread in Tri 3! I know there's a few of us either into the next tri already or very soon to be :)
I've just been for my 28 week midwife appointment - first time that my bump has been measured. Baby still absolutely fine and measuring where it should be. Also wriggling around pretty much all the time!

Charlotte - I've done some shopping. Was feeling quite pleased with myself until I realised how much there is still to get :)

Yes I am pretty much finished my Christmas shopping and most of it is all wrapped and I am delivering them all this weekend! I just need to do a food shop and then i can relax. I am never this organised!
We are getting almost the entire house painted the week before Christmas so the house will be upside down and its better to have all the pressies done and out of the way.
Thanks for setting up tri 3 thread merry.

Girls I had an awful nightmare last night that I gave birth at home unexpectedly and the baby died :-(. It was horrendous!! Hope I dont continue to have these throughout tri 3.

Hi all, been a quet recently due to work mayhem - been so busy by the time I get home and my little boy is in bed so am I! Only 2 more full time weeks until go down to 3 days a week!

Agreed with hubby we won't start getting baby stuff out the attic until Christmas is over and all the decorations etc are away - I have got a few sneaky purchases of clothes which I've stashed in my car boot for now.

I'm 24+4 now and finally feeling movement which is lovely and nice having a proper bump, people at work feel confident enough to ask me if I'm expecting now so it must be obvious - triet to attach a bump pic.

other than being knackered feeling really well overall and so grateful to be carrying another baby.

L&P - I had these nightmare a few nights in a row a couple of weeks ago and horrible woke up in a cold sweat, I'm sure they will pass xx

Ah you have a lovely neat bump there ST!
For some reason I have trouble uploading pics on this thing.
Thanks, Im sure the nightmares will sibside, I think Ive been so concious of the latest information on sleeping on your side and not your back and how it prevents still births. I am always falling asleep on my side but I often wake up on my back and then worry about it. Although I know I cant have been like that too long as its uncomfortable.
Lucky you soon going to 3 days a week with work. My annual leave runs Jan - Dec so I am using mine up and off 2 whole weeks over Christmas which will be lovely. I still deliberating when to take maternity from and whether to use some new leave for shorter weeks or all together a week or so before maternity, its hard to know how much time to take off before due date. I want to have a rest and time to myself but at the same time dont want to be too bored either.
Need to decide soon to let my employers know and I am picking up my Mat 1 B form today as well.
How long before due date is everyone else thinking of taking?x

Girls, it's normal to have nightmares. I used to have them too.

If you fall asleep on your side but wake up on your back it's nothing to worry about. If baby does not like it he/ she will kick hard to wake you up.

I've done most of Christmas shopping. Just one more thing to get. And then it's wrapping time. I love that part. :)

I gave Mat B1 form to my HR lady a week ago . Now I need to pick a date when to start my maternity leave. She said I can change the date anytime.

So Im thinking about taking one week before due date. Is that too crazy girls?

I keep waking on my back too l&p, but I know I can't sleep properly apart from on my side so think I'm not on my back for long. I know my midwife asked today if I was aware of the new guidelines as their department was one of those involved in the study, but she said as long as you reposition yourself onto your side every time you go to sleep then you should be fine.

Summertime, great bump! I haven't been taking bump pictures, need to try to get them in these last weeks at least I think! I'll try to take one later.

At the moment I'm going to start my mat leave at Feb half term, which is about ten days before my due date. If I do this then I get paid for half term before my mat leave officially starts on the day term starts again, and with the crappy maternity pay in teaching every week of full pay will help! Everyone at work has just looked sceptical and essentially said 'you won't get that far', but I honestly think that if my pregnancy continues to be as easy as it has been it shouldn't be a problem. I know it's my first time and I might be being naïve, but I want to make sure I have more time with baby afterwards.

I'm taking annual leave after Xmas to go to 3 days and then finish on the 16th of February when I'll be 34+6. IT probably sounds really early but it's so different this time around, I'm constantly exhausted from looking after my son and working full time and always want a few weeks to get my son used to his part time nursery routine.

First time around I worked until 36 weeks and then used annual leave until 38 as it fell at the end of the holiday year. I think if you are feeling well and it's first baby it makes sense to work a bit closer to the due date unless you start having health problems.

It's my last baby so taking bump pics every month to look back on - loving my bump this time around! I'm a lot smaller than with my son at same stage - but on extra moniotring because he was over 4.5kgs, I'm hoping smaller bump = smaller baby!

Girls I still can't decide on whooping cough vaccine. I had flu jab without hesitation. Bet now I just don't want to get whooping one. I did a bit of research and apparently it's not enough for a pregnant woman to be be vaccinated. Oh needs to have it too and everyone who is planning to visit need a jab too.

Then the question is what's the point of having it if no-one else will have it I think baby gets his jabs at the age of 2 months. So is the a point in getting one now?

What do you think girls?

Finaly I have made the decision. Last week I have choosen Venicci 3in1 travel system. The order was placed online. The delivery was very quick and the customer service is amazing - very helpful. I am so happy having the Venicci travel system and cannot wait for my baby girl and start using it :)

Girls, what prams have you chosen? I keep looking at so many of them and then keep gravitating back to Baby Jogger.

Would be nice to go to the shop where 1000 prams are on display and I could try all :) :) :)
