## March 2018 Mummies Tri 1 Thread ##

Hi Victoria! This is my first :) Had my booking appointment yesterday, just waiting for my scan now. I'm like you, until I see actual proof of a baby on a scan I'm not going to fully accept it! I do have an idea of what I want for the birth though - amazingly decisive for me!

Stay positive with the symptoms - mine eased off again by about 9 weeks. The baby will do just fine no matter what you eat - I went for two weeks on nothing but plain yoghurt with blueberries (bizarrely the only thing I really fancied!) and the occasional slice of toast and jam. Fortunately I'm eating relatively normally now!

Anyone else here got low blood pressure? Mine is always low, I do go a bit lightheaded on occasion, but I didn't realise it would fall even further in pregnancy. It's currently 80/60, but the midwife warned it will fall more in the next few weeks. She wasn't unduly concerned but did say I need to be careful getting out the bath and out of bed in the morning. Hoping I'm not going to start fainting everywhere!

Hello ladies!

Hope everyone is keeping ok. I had my first appointment last week with my community midwife. I have my hospital picked so now just have to wait to hear from them to get my first scan date. Time just seems to be going so slowly. I don't think it is really going to seem real until the scan! I am now almost 7 weeks pregnant, symptoms kicking in now, I feel exhausted all the time, I have completely lost my appetite, my boobs are so sore today. I am so worried about my diet also as I am just struggling to eat enough, it is so hard to force yourself to eat food when you have no appetite at all!!
Anyone else here having their first baby? I am finding it all so overwhelming, everyone seems to know exactly what they want for their birthing plan but I really have no idea. I did tell the midwife that I have always liked the idea of a birthing pool. I just feel like such a beginner with no clue what is ahead of me! We have just been so fixated on getting pregnant that I had not even thought as far ahead as the actual labour, ahhh!!

xx

Hi VL,

I am having my first baby also. It is all quite daunting and I am still getting used to it at almost 11 weeks (D.D 1st March going by private scan at 9 weeks but have dating scan on Thursday when I will be about 11 +1!). I am trying not to think or plan too much until after the dating scan so I know everything is ok and can tell everyone. Then it will be full steam ahead with everything! It is quite overwhelming in every sense.
I am finding the hormones and emotions more difficult to deal with than the physical side effects.
My nausea isnt as bad but I have to force myself to eat first thing in the morning as it prevents me feeling that way. All I really want to eat is plain food like potatoes.
I wasn't asked anything about birthing options at my appointment with the midwife but know that it will be discussed at a later date. I am too interested in a water birth so have lots to think about and consider!

There is a good programme that have started doing in my area which combines workshops and classes with antenatal appointments for first time parents called Getting Ready for Baby. It looks really good and comprehensive so I start the first one in September. Its good to know you have that kind of support.

Happy and healthy pregnancy to you!xx

Hi

This is my second baby, although my first is 5 1/2 so I haven't done this pregnancy malarchy for a long while. Like Summertime says I too am feeling very overwhelmed with everything, I honestly had forgotten most things from last time and it all just seems completely new to me.

I've not been very good at coming to post on here as as ridiculous as it sounds I've just been feeling too dreadful to do anything that requires any effort at all (unless of course absolutely necessary!) although I've been checking in everyday.

I'm 10 weeks today and have my scan 2 weeks today so will be exactly 12 weeks then.

I don't normally have issues with blood pressure but was told last time that it was low. I get very breathless doing normal things like hanging the washing out or walking up the stairs.
Also when ever I walk as far as the local shop for instance (a3minute walk) my stomach goes very tight and I'm so breathless, does anyone else get this?

Someone asked how everyone was getting on with exercise etc, I'm literally just trying to make it through my day at the moment. I usually walk a lot and do Pilates so I'm hoping to be able to get back to my usual level of activity in tri 2.

I hope that everyone is having a good week so far. Such a good support network we have here ❤️

Hi ladies, this thread is super helpful hearing about everyone's experiences.

I'm a little worried about an hour ago i fell over - onto all fours like a dog. There's was a hole in the floor and of course I found it and lost my footing.

I've pretty sore knees and palms but didn't hit my belly. No unusual pains but still worried. Not sure if I should be worried as it's pretty protected and didn't impact the Tummy but I did hit the floor hard. Feel a bit shaken from shock I think

Anyone got any experiences to help or any advice?

Thabkyou x

Dee 83 I have noticed a few times I get breathless doing certain tasks, which I have read can be fairly normal. I dont know anyone can do cardio in the first tri!

I usually walk to and from work (4 miles in total) but I was off last week and noticed when I was back walking yesterday my stomach felt tight and slightly crampy. I dont know what thats about?!

Mum2b Dubai that must have been scary for you, even though your tummy wasn't touched its never nice to fall, especially when pregnant. I have no experience or real advice other than I would be 100% sure everything is fine with the baby. Give yourself lots of TLC for the rest of the day and put your feet up with a cuppa and try to relax.
At this early stage the baby is so well protected it would take a really hard fall on your belly for it to have an impact.
At my hen weekend my friend was 9 weeks pregnant and still went kayaking, she fell out of the kayak over a small waterfall with some boulders and she now has a perfectly healthy 18 month old. Babies are a lot more hardy that we think.
I know I have never felt as vulnerable and fragile in all my life and Im even afraid to go jogging and I was actually worrying yesterday about how scared I will be walking heavily pregnant in the snow/ice come the winter here!
But trust that all will be fine, even though you are mostly shaken up.

xx

Loveandpeace that's exactly how I would describe it actually, tight and slightly crampy. I remember it being like that in the later stages of my first pregnancy, I'm sure it was not this early on. Reassuring to know that we're not alone though hey.

Mum2be_Dubai I'm sorry to hear about your fall, you must be very shaken up. As loveandpeace has said I am sure that baby will be absolutely fine. They are so well tucked up and protected in there. Big hugs xx

Thanks love&peace and dee83 that really helped put perspective on it.

I'm in the bath now feeling better. It was just the shock I think then the worry! You put it so well, I feel really vulnerable and when you haven't done this before it's so hard to grasp the reality! I'm not sure when I'm supposed to worry and when I'm not!

Mum2b hope you feel better after your bath, I'm sure baby will be fine but I can see why you would feel shaken up. I'd recommend wine... but maybe chocolate instead!

Hey ladies, not posted for a few days, hope you're all well.

I've been struggling at work, had a chest infection last week and I think it's taking me a while to get over it. Went back yesterday and by dinner time I was flagging. Waves of nausea are getting more frequent. I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow so expecting it to ramp up a bit. Just hope it's not as bad as last time.

Picking our new car up tomorrow night so no doubt tomorrow will drag too haha. And I don't work Thursdays so looking forward to a day with my daughter :)

Oh that's rubbish Haylian - I had a bad cold about the same point and it really hit me. Hope you feel better!

Is anyone else on their 2nd pregnancy looking bloated already? I'm struggling with nausea so mainly eating plain carbs which probably isnt helping but having to undo my jeans in the evenings! First time around didn't need maternity wear until well into T2 but looks like might be a bit sooner this time!

Can't remember if I already mentioned but the lady who sits next to me is heavily pregnant (35 weeks) and getting mega bump envy!

Hope you are both feeling beter Haylian and Mum2be xx

Summertime, I am 10+1 and have a proper round bump already!! Definitely earlier than I did with my son although I was massive with him as he was a whopper 10lb12 so I'm expecting this one to be a big baby too. I'm living on plain carbs too so there's probably an element of bloat in there but it's very hard and round! xx

I had a big baby aswell but not compared to yours as mine was 'only' 10lb. I keep thinking it is too early to have anything other than bloating. Wearing baggy tops so can undo top button at work! Will squish into clothes until hit T2 on way or another! I have zero stomach muscles left after my son even though I lost all the baby weight so no resistance to keep it in. X

10lb is a very big baby!! Apparently it is common to "show" a lot earlier with your second baby because, like you mentioned, stomach muscles aren't as strong as they once were to hold everything in! It's only really since I hit the 9 week mark that my tummy has gone more firm and round.

Yes! I'm not a small person anyway and it's making me very self conscious as my tummy is so round. I know it's early pregnancy bloat and it's felt much better today but Monday especially it was very round and hard. I didn't show properly till 24/25 weeks last time.

hello all

Had my 7 weeks scan yesterday, and we just sneak into March 2018 with a DD of 28th. Can I join you all on here?

Suddenly this all seems very real.......

Hi Moose, you are very welcome to join us! I have added your due date to the first page.

How was the scan? Could you see much? I was desperate to get a private early scan but managed to resist the urge and now 8 + 3 so only 4 weeks until my NHS scan. I've got my booking in appointment in 2 weeks time so I have that to break up the wait!

Is this your first baby? xx

wow just noticed we have 4 March mummies due on the 28th so you are in good company!

Morning girls. Sorry for being rubbish at posting. The nausea had seemed to fade but is back today :-( This is also my second baby so I feel like I'm starting to show a lot earlier than last time. I've got my ten week viability scan Saturday so only two more wake ups! Will then tell my parents. But nervous about doing so as my toddler will only be 2.7 months when baby arrives and I am worried they will say "you'll have your work cut out etc" which I don't really want to hear. I know it'll be hard but then I think it is hard with any age gap xx

Morning ladies,

I have my dating scan today even though I'm only 11 + 1 or thereabouts. Nervous and excited!
Nausea and fatigue are fading but boobs still sore at times.
Although this is my first I am surprised at how much my tummy is rounded and firm.

Ljd401, DH and I are hoping to start trying again for our second once our first is about 6 months, we want to have all our kids close together (ideally we would like 3). We're not getting any younger and figure we may as well make it tough for ourselves for a few years of nappies and chaos!
