Ladies doing IVF or IUI - 2015 (9 BFPs!)

This is my last weekend drinking (not that I drink loads).
Decided I'm going to stay off the wine now and give my body a break whilst we start ivf.

I too have started drinking decaf coffee, and I'm sure everyone's wondering at work.

If they ask just say your having problems sleeping and have been advised to cut out caffeine
When do you start your treatment Mel? Xx

I started the pill yesterday and have 1st scan and start injections on 16th Oct.
That's quite a long time on the pill compared to others but was difficult fitting me in around egg collection.

How's everyone else doing? xx

I was on the pill for almost 4 weeks! Felt like ages but stopped pill the 21st and started down reg injections on the 22nd so on my way :) Hoping my lining is thin enough to start stims on the 2nd!

Good luck and not far until the 16th! x

It's very surreal being back on the pill.
At least sexy time this month will be for fun ;)

Fingers crossed for you hun.
When's your next scan? xx

Haha! Exactly, not a lot of spontaneous sex the last couple of years :)

Scan this friday to see if all ok to start the serious stuff! X

Question regarding injections ladies.

I was told to pinch the skin when pushing in the needle. But what about when i inject the buserelin? Should i still pinch or let go? :)

Yes pinch the skin with all injections. It helps to get more fat to inject into if you are slim and some ladies find if they pinch hard, they don't feel the needle so much! Let go after you have injected the Buserelin, take the needle out and press gently. You can also rub gently to disperse the medicine. I press with an alcohol wipe to kill 2 birds with one stone and more hygienic to press the puncture with something antiseptic. Good luck!

I would pinch to get the needle in but would let go slightly to inject as I found this more comfortable. If I kept the skin pinched when injecting it felt as though the liquid was building up under my skin. I didnt like that feeling!!

Had my scan today to see if I can start the injections, lining was 3.9, cyst was gone & ‘hydrosalpinx’ was gone! Nurse said it should be fine to start but I need confirmation from the Lister nurses. Called them after lunch and kept my phone on but its typical that they choose the one time to phone back when I’m not at my desk! So called back and they are busy again! So annoying.

I emailed the doctor about the hydrosalpinx as its something that comes and goes. It wasn’t detected at my laparoscopy or HSG but a slightly swollen tube was detected before the first IVF and a few times since. They’d planned to drain it during egg collection so it didn’t compromise the embryos but it was gone! It seems to come and go so I don’t think it can be an actual hydrosalpinx. The doctor suggested a 3D scan and if it is there during egg collection, to have another laparoscopy before embryo transfer and remove the tube. I don’t really want surgery before transfer and be left with only one tube but if it’s the reason the embryos aren’t implanting then I suppose the tube has to go. Fingers crossed it isn’t a hydrosalpinx.

Thanks for your suggestions regarding the injections! Will pinch but ease a little when injecting :)

Great you are ready to go Blueflower and hope the nurse gets back to you soon!! Assume you are doing this privately and paying so you would expect quick answers!

Understand about the surgery and really hope this won't be the case and its gone for good...

I am on day 9 of Buserelin and have had headaches the last 4 days.. quite bad ones :( Is this a normal side effect?

Nurse rang me back, phew! Halve the nasal spray tomorrow and start injections, hooray! Thanks, yes we are private but I don't think they get back to us any quicker!

I have a headache too, its normal but not nice. Mine is also due to a stressful day finding out changes at work, waiting to hear about the injections, sitting in a dark office staring at a screen and waiting for a call whilst trying to eat cake and drink tea for a leaving do!

Yeah blueflower! Off you go to your BFP xx complicated isn't it but I guess u won't have much choice if that is a reason it could be compromising the embryo? It might not come to that though Hun fingers crossed xx

Glad they got back to you blueflower, fingers crossed that the tube can stay. Have everything crossed for you Now the process is going.

I wasn't told you need to pinch the skin to do injections it's good to know for next time thanks ladies xx

So exciting that your about to start Blueflower.
Keeping everything crossed everything goes to plan xx

Forgot to say, when the nurse was explaining how to reduce the nasal spray she said "one nostril twice a day, it doesn't matter which nostril you pick"! I had to try not to snigger, I'm so immature! She isn't English so didn't realize, she probably says it all the time! ;)

Haha funny blueflower, I would have laughed too lol.
Great news that you get to start, I hope things go as smoothly as possible and you get your bfp xxx
