Ladies doing IVF or IUI - 2015 (9 BFPs!)

I don't actually know CDAbaby. No ones ever mentioned short or long protocol to me! x

It's so strange to think by the end of September we will know if we are pregnant or not! Xx

It certainly is! OHs bday is about the tine we will be due to test so would be lovely for a bfp! *must not get ahead of myself* :x

My understanding of protocols, is short starts on day 2 of the cycle and long starts on day 21 of the previous cycle. Not sure why they are different though. We are on the short one.
It's so hard not to get ahead of yourself, without being negative cos you want to remain positive - what a head fcuk!
Blueflower have you spoken to the consultant about your concerns? They should talk it over with you, you want to go into this as relaxed aspossible and that's not easy anyway let alone thinking it could be for nothing xx

Yes baby bump let this year be the year for us all!!

Surely they will have the results by then blueflower it's been a week or two? With biopsies at my work it takes a week. Why is this journey full of doubts, ifs and butts, waiting and STRESS! When everyone says just relax!!!

Good luck pois Pinner and welcome xx

Yes how can we relax when there's so much uncertainty?!
I must be on the short protocol now as I missed the long one!
He is very hard to get hold of but is happy to correspond by email. I emailed back saying that we are concerned.

It all sounds very confusing blueflower! When would you start the spray? Did they indicate how long the test results take to come back? X

On day 1 which will be tomorrow I think! ERA was supposed to be a few days, DNA is 2-3 weeks so should be ok. But if its cutting it too fine they should tell me not to start the drugs till next day 21!

I hope they get back to you with more answers blueflower, like other said you need to feel as relaxed as possible. Maybe theres a number he can give you to get the results from? Or could the receptionist follow it up and pass them on to you.
It seems strange that he wants to go ahead without results, if you go through all stims and then there is a dna issue what will they do? PGD? Xx

Hi hun, that was my thought too. If there is a DNA issue then they would need to get the percentage down before continuing. Fingers crossed there is not but it does seem strange why they would want to continue without results x

And baby bump good luck for your consultation next week. We have ours too so I will keep you updated x

I might contact him again and say if its cutting it too fine we'll wait till day 21, what do you think? I don't want them to say we insisted on starting asap even though the results might not be back and blame us if the cycle is wasted!

If there is a DNA issue then the plan is to do IMSI but if the results aren't back before EC then we won't know! Or we'd do IMSI unnecessary! Yes I suppose we'd go straight to PGS, but then we would have wasted £500 on the test! He assumed I'd started on the nasal spray so maybe thinks its too late, so I could mention that too!

It's our last IVF so I don't want to fall at the first hurdle! Don't need the extra stress either!

Good luck Blueflower. That all sounds stressfull. Im new to all this so im afraid cannot offer any advice but wish you luck in whatever you decide.

Just a quick question for you ladies. Can you drink when on the treatment (that may sound irresponsible) but dont get me wrong I am certainly not a drinker but having a takeaway night with the girls this weekend and just wondered if I could have a drink if I fancied it. Im not planning on getting wasted obviously but just wondered if the odd tipple is ok or not. To be honest I want to do everything I can to make this cycle successful so probably wont anyway but just wondered if that would be a big no-no or something that would have no affect,

Hi poispinner! Where you up to with this cycle? I drank one night on the day I had started my Stims during my 1st IVF cycle and I felt fine! That cycle resulted in a BFP but sadly didn't work out but nothing to do with the alcohol!! Hope this helps!! Xx

You need to do what feels best blueflower, if you're impatient abstracting to go then start but if you're stressing then delay it for a few weeks.

I had a couple of evenings whilst stimming when I had a couple of small glasses of wine, I don't think it'll make a difference to be honest. I didn't after EC obviously xx

I had some wine during down reg then switched to low alcohol citrus beer just on the weekends but this time we have a party to go to during stims so I'll probably just have a couple of glasses of wine. I think whatever you put into your body goes into the eggs so if you wake up hungover it won't have done them any good but if you have a nice drink and feel relaxed that would be more beneficial than feeling deprived!

Im due to start down regging tomorrow. Like I said its not a problem just wanted to be in the know! Like you said though im sure a glass of wine wont hurt if the need arises!

Can you email your clinic and ask Poispinner? I'm sure my clinic said to me no more than one glass a day. I hardley drink anyway so I was like will once a week won't hurt then I practically water mine down with ice and lemonade anyway.
We have our nurse consult Friday all feeling a bit real now!
What is stimming? Is that a silly question considering we start IVF in 3 weeks? Lol
How are you feeling today blueflower?
I am struggling to remember where everyone is in there journey on this thread, sorry if I forget to ask you all how you are doing but I hope everyone is doing okay and gets some good news this year xxx

Stimming is the drugs that stimulate the ovaries such as Menopur, Merional or Gonal F.
One glass a day is quite a lot!
Feeling a bit stressed as awaiting AF and planning to start the down regulation but no guarantees test results will be back in time for egg collection. I emailed the consultant yesterday just saying if he thinks its cutting it a bit fine to let me know and I'll wait till day 21. Just so we are covered. If we do leave it till then, ET might fall during this family weekend away. I think the results should be back in time if we start now as they are supposed to take 2-3 weeks, one week has passed & we've got 10 days of down reg then at least 12 of stims so that should be plenty!

Thank you for explaining that Blueflower makes sense to me now. I know 1 a day seems way too many, different docs all tell you different things I wonder if it's more opinion then medical profession!
I hope your consultant comes back to you soon xx
