Ladies doing IVF or IUI - 2015 (9 BFPs!)

Its to stop your natural hormones from appearing so they can control the exact dose that goes into you. If you didn't take the Buserelin, the FSH and LH levels with both artificial and natural hormones would be too high and you might get OHSS.

Am I right in thinking though that for some protocols you don't down reg and allow your own hormones to add to the mix but need to be monitored more often, does anyone know?

I am doing the short protocol and will be monitored every other day (which I was told is more often than the long protocol). Not sure about the hormones though! X

Thanks! Asked my lovely nurse and she said I need to continue 0.5 dosage since it stops my body doing what it normally do, so it will stop me from ovulating before I am ready for EC.

Blueflower, that is so bad! How can they give you incorrect information when this is so important! What did they say, where they really apologetic?

Not at all! They just said I was right and to stop! There are so many nurses they don't know what each other has advised!

10dpiui and 12 days post trigger, cramping and bfp on frer, they told me not to test till next Wednesday but couldn't resist!!

Is this likely to still be the trigger? How long does it stay in your system? I had bfn on ic

I think its stays in your system around 10 days. I tested 14 days after trigger and got my bfp! Good luck x

Sounds great Hun! I am sure trigger would be out by now! When I got faint bfp on frer after embryo transfer I tested earlier and had cramps, that's what made me test!! Good luck Hun but sounds like a congrats might be in order! Xxx

Today’s appointment went well! Its funny how I’m always nervous before these tracking appointments, does anyone else get like that?! I’m not keen on blood tests (who is really?!) but hope I don’t faint or be sick, & scans can sometimes throw up cysts or my tube that sometimes looks swollen when I’m on the stims.

Anyway it went well, I have about 15 measurable follicles, more smaller growing ones, lining is 10 which I think is good at this stage and no hydrosalpinx! Phlebotomist did my blood so it was quick and painless! Egg collection will probably be next Friday or Saturday & I’ve got to go up to London for 2 more appointments next week!

Got my hypnotherapy appt this evening and reflexology appt tomorrow, I plan to be nice and relaxed for next week!

That's great Blueflower!! Everything goes according to plan, must feel so nice! I do reflexology as well ( + acupuncture ) and lovely. Not sure it helps but I just love foot massage and really relaxing . Not long until your EC now.

I will start stimming on Sunday and really nervous. Nervous about the new injections since its much more that has to be injected but sure it will be fine.. I am so used to my down reg drugs.

So what happens if they find a cyst? Can that mean the cycle gets cancelled?

I'm not sure I believe the claims of reflexology but its nice to have a foot massage whilst chatting to a sympathetic therapist!

What stims are you on? Is there a lot of mixing involved? Its nice to go down to just half the Buserelin!

Yes it would be postponed as the cyst produces hormones which are detrimental to the treatment, its common though and most cysts disperse before stims so it just delays things a bit. They just prolong the time you take the pill or down reg until its gone.

The nurse told me today that there are different sorts of cysts, she said all follicles are cysts but not all cysts are follicles! I think that means that if you have Polycystic Ovaries its not the kind of cysts that cause a problem with the treatment.
