Ladies doing IUI or IVF - 2016 (11 BFPs so far!)

It really could be any one of those things, such a hard wait while not knowing
Really hope everything is okay xx

Can I ask Millie ?
With your first 2 cycles of IVF, did you get your period before test date ?

With the first one I didn't have any spotting or anything until a few days after I stopped progesterone

The second cycle I started brown spotting a few days before official test date but never got anymore than just spotting until I came off progesterone and full flow still took a few days to come after that

How are things now? I hope the spotting has stopped or settled? It really could still be a good sign and I really hope it is xx

Millie that could very well be implantation bleeding at 2dp5dt. My clinic asked one of the ladies that cycled just before I did if she'd had any cramping or bleeding 2 days after her 5 day transfer and were excited when she said yes. Of course I'm now panicking that I haven't had any cramping or bleeding...

CCW, it's not necessarily bad news. Spotting is far more common with ivf,

Good luck all!

Cried most night and this morning.
The cramping stopped by 8pm last night but I’ve filled a pad almost since 3pm yesterday.
Think I’ve lost it xxxx

Noo! ccw that's awfull  shouldn't happen! Hoping it will stop soon and stay in there!

I'd like to think it was but know it could also just be from the transfer. I'm so ugh about waiting. I just want to test but I know at 5dp5dt it could easily be a bfn..

CCW I'm so sorry to hear things haven't settled :(
Do you know if any embryos were frozen in the end? Xx

No they said they would ring if any made it to freeze.
Will have to do EC again.
Will research to see if I can improve things any more

So sorry :(

It's so hard.. my first ivf only got 3 eggs, only 1 fertilised. I didn't have any to freeze and I had a transfer on day 3 because they wanted to transfer something.

2nd attempt was different meds, little more successful 12 eggs, 6 fertilised.. but only 2 made it to day 5.

Really felt like trial and error.. It really sucks

Hi ladies

Ccw - sorry to hear of what's happened :(

I've had a revelation over the last couple of weeks about how much diet affects the outcome. I'm starting treatment at ZW clinic where their success rates are more than double that of my previous (well regarded) clinic, with 69% chance of success per embryo transfer for women under 35.

They've been telling me how much protein I need to eat during egg collection cycle for instance and it's huge, because growing eggs requires a lot of it. Plus all sorts of other things to note (including making sure blood sugar is stable as spikes causes insulin surges which damage the quality of eggs etc). To anyone going to go through this again I strongly recommend a wholesale diet review to make sure you're getting the right nutrition. I feel like an idiot that I didn't realise all this earlier but I'm hoping to spare other people the same learning experience xx

Tinsel I've also read a lot lately about proteins during ivf, and because of that I'm actually starting my day with a protein shake, thinking it can't really hurt to try! Also makes cravings in night-time less crazy.. as I'm usually really bothered with those munchies.. hoping so hard that we don't need another cycle with stims..
It's also really good eating a lot of proteins to avoid ohss apparently...

Also going for Gatorade after retrieval as I've read the electrolytes are good for some things about water not staying in the body ..

Tinsel myclinic are currently telling women to eat something like 8 eggs per day whilst stimming.

CCW you may not be out yet, bleeding really isn’t uncommon during ivf, keep taking the meds and see what happens on Wednesday.

Millie, I got a bfn on 6dp5dt and so wish i hadn’t tested. Try and hold on a bit longer. You also need to give time for the trigger shot to get out of your system.

I never had a trigger shot.. do some clinics do that in frozen cycles?

I think I'll die of shock if I get a bfp this cycle.. I did test with a cheapie yesterday but it was bfn
I won't test today, it's either to early or it just isn't our cycle

I'm feeling pretty normal today, not even having any possible symptoms from the progesterone

It's disappointing but I just feel used to bfn after bfn that I don't even feel upset about another bfn
I just feel angry that my body can't seem to do this

Tiger paws - protein shake sounds like a good plan! Nice! :)

Syd - 8 eggs a day?!! I was told 2-3 large eggs a day while stimming as they give about 8g protein each and to aim for 70-80g of protein a day in the ivf cycle. (!!!!)

I have just bought an Instant Pot and see that cook eggs really nicely and very easy to peel after :)

Millie - I feel for you. I hope you get some good news in a few days. That said I was looking at the cycle when I had my bfp and I don't think a test would have shown it at 11dpo. However opk's were always great early indicators of which way a cycle was going.

Also noticed yesterday that I didn't pick up enough needles from my clinic and only just have enough progesterone meds
(If I got pregnant we would need to pick some up on test day to continue meds)

Have enough needles to keep going a few more days but not until test day and I can't call until tomorrow to ask

I'm actually kind of mad at the NHS for being a bit poorly organised with this cycles meds
They got me to use whatever I had left over from my other cycles.. which you know that's great I get not wasting anything but it's no good asking me if I think I have enough of everything at home when the meds aren't in front of me and then asking me after I've had my transfer (on sedation and painkillers) if I have everything I need

Syd.. 8eggs e day would kill my digestive system! That's a lot!
So wierd my clinic doesn't have any tips for anything dietary, I've had to read everything on my own.

xMillie only time I've heard of trigger shots in frozen cycles is if they're used as "supplemeents" .. I think they do 3 or 5 clicks of the ovulation shot every 3 days or so .. but it's really rare and they are supposed do to that for a long time, therefore they need blood-tests..

Tinsel, I'm really happy about that, even started to shove some protein shakes down hubbys throat at well, hoping it will make his little ones a bit better.

That's just poorly Millie, not an ok way to organize things. Call them tomorrow and get prescriptions, because this time around you are gonna get your little one

Yup, 8 eggs, or maybe 6 but I think it was 8, it was the egg whites in particular they wanted them to eat.

No, sorry Millie, you're right, you don't trigger on an fet. That's annoying about the meds, I took a tally of all the ones I had left before I went for transfer, mostly because it's cheaper to get them in Greece than Hong Kong.

I've always gotten a positive opk when I've been pregnant previously so I have been doing an opk each day to save the hpt's. Sadly all completely blank so I'm really not holding out any hope for next week.

That's true tiger, I'd forgotten about that. My clinic used to do the trigger shot (pregnyl) on transfer day I think then every 3 days after with a de cycle or fet but you basically can't get pregnyl any more so they can't do it. Apparently what they do now is, if you get a bfp but with low beta numbers they prescribe a different type of trigger shot to give you a boost.
