So I am in my first TWW.... We are going to a surprise family member's 40th birthday party on 9th. I'll be anywhere between 9 and 12 dpo ( irregular cycles). So, do i test early on 9th or wait til 14th. Trying to work out if I can have a drink or two... Arghhh

Any thoughts? Xx

My thinking is always that if it shows pos you won't be able to drink, but equally if it's neg it won't be conclusive and you'll need to retest in a couple more days, so up to you but either way it's best to avoid too much booze, sorry 😬

My friend didn't find out she was pregnant till she was 3 months in. She asked her midwife about drinking as she'd had a few heavy nights in that period. Her midwife said that whilst the guidelines say that you should drink at all during pregnancy the first period, when you wouldn't know your pregnant, doesn't matter as much as you would think. The real damage is done when the foetus has developed a brain.

That said I think heavy drinking can increase your chance of an early MC so you want to be a little bit cautious. Therefore I would say that, At 9DPO its still just a blastocyst not even a foetus so you can't damage the baby. have a few drinks but don't get paralytic X
