Kezzy, I think your plan is very well thought out and sensible, well done!

We had exactly the same discussion with my OH a couple of years ago and came to the same conclusion, that we'd start trying once my PhD was out of the way, his debts were paid, he had at least 2 years job stability, and we had sufficient savings for baby related expenses and emergencies. You really don't want to be pregnant and have to worry about fixing things in your flat, paying off debts and not having enough savings for a rainy day, being pregnant is stressful enough as it is!

It's also nice to enjoy that period when it's just the two of you and you can be all spontaneous and go for nights out or travel. I think it's a really nice stage in your life and it shouldn't be rushed through :).

Hey Bella :)

Awwww good stuff, always nice if you can inspire people a lil :yay: go Bella, go Bella :yay:

My mum was always at home & had a sewing machine in the kitchen & did bits & pieces for the army but always there when growing up, my dad on the other hand wasn't, he was either in the pub or at work & never at home, I found it hard growing up cos although your parents are married & together, you never see one of them so that's why its really important for us that we will be around all the time, well as much as possible & the OH will work from home a bit more & if he is in the office then he isn't going to stay late as much as he he doing now

Oooooooo how fancy do those pax wardrobes sound, I love having lots of draws & cupboards to hide bits in.

How well did the decluttering go hun?

xxx
Hey hon

that must have been hard not having your dad around, I understand why you and your OH want to work it so you will both be around as much as poss. You will make fab parents when the time comes :)

The decluttering went well, mum came round to lend a hand, I got rid of one bin liner full for the charity shop and another for the bin :oooo: feel revitalised!! We have a smaller wardrobe in our spare room which is now almost empty, my OH said it would be nice to try and clear it so it's ready for the pitter patter of tiny feet.....that really made me smile to think he's thinking about it being a nursery hopefully in the near future x x x

Ooooooo I've just been given an extra 6 shifts for March, means that everything will be paid off 2 months quicker then expected :yay:

xxx

:yay: things are really moving in the right direction yippeeee!!!

Bella - loving your declutter! Sooo good for the soul

Hey Alexandra

Thanks for your post & you've got it spot on for me

Whereas my best friend for example is slightly different, She is someone that will stop at nothing to get whatever it is she wants immediately, doesn't matter how good or bad her current situation is she wants everything immediately, she feels silly & selfish at times but I tell her that she can flip that coin to something better as she may not have her 3 beautiful children if she wasn't the way she was

It's nice to see how it's different for everyone & how things work out but for me & my OH seeing how she struggles & the same with my parents is not something we think is necessarily a bad thing as they are all very happy, it's just not something we want to go through

I think I'm rambling on now

Awwww thanks, we really hope we will be

This is like well into the future planning ahead but we are going to start the 'Baby Jennings' trust fund this month, going to save £10 each a month until 2035, around £6,000 will be saved of our own money then if in a high interest account will be a very nice sum of money for when our lil one is 21 & gives them a great start to life, also said if our child is one to work but live at home, will charge rent & will put that into their savings account so when they come to buying their own house they can use all their savings for a deposit or towards furniture etc & with pocket money & any extra they earn through helping with chores or odd jobs, will try to encourage saving some of it

Omg I sound mad, just want our child to have a great start in life & if we are able to do all of this then why not eh :)

Oh wow, you sound like you've done a great job with the decluttering, makes you feel great as well doesn't it & your OH to, such a lovely thing to say & bet feels wonderful knowing he's on the same page about the future to

WTF?????:shock: .... Dont know how I missed this one!! :shakehead: :oooo:

I kinda feel a little sad that you are putting TTC on the back burner ... had this image of all us ttc ladies getting our bfp's together and goin through the amazing journey as one ....:friends: .........jeeez Vick talk about hormone over load :rotfl:

BUT .... I do totally understand why you are putting it on hold to get your finances in shape, a lot of people dont give things like that a second thought !!

Me and DH had the same idea as you, we wanted to make sure that when our time comes we could offer our little one/s a good life and not have the stress of money looming over our heads all the time.

Glad that you are still going to stick around PF, I dont think it would be the same without you x x x x

Hey Vicky

Oh bless you, thank you so much for your kind words, they mean a lot & everyones kind words will be kept close to my heart :hugs:

I know what you mean about everyone going over into Tri 1 together & sharing our pregnancies together, would of been amazing & especially with the :bfp: overload this month :yay: but I'll still be around as the groupie following everyones morning sickness & weird cravings

When I made the decision I thought I'd be really upset what with wanting a lil one & everything but tbh I felt so happy as I know it's the best thing for us & our future together so knew it was the right decision & feel totally calm & content about everything

I'm not feeling stressed about home life or work or money either, everything in life genuinely feels happy & positive & it's the first time in a long time I've felt like that

Yep I'll still be around, I'd miss you all too much & I love hearing how everyone is getting on plus when my time comes I'll be getting all the advice off you girls

sorry been awol Kezza - pesky busy work tsk! Sounds like you're doing brilliantly, you'll have those debts paid off in no time hon x x x

Hi everyone i wondered if it was ok to join in here? I've been lurking a bit and you all seem like a brilliant bunch of ladies..supportive and kind. I have 2 boys Kellan 1 and Alex 4..looking to try in oct 2011 x

Kezza... :flower:

your such an amazing person!! :hugs: me reading what you are planning to do makes me what to better my life... i am one of these that starts something and never finish it and i hate being like that...
  • I started my driving lessons - gave up
  • started organising my wedding - got cancelled
  • started paying off debts - stopped
and its all to do with lack of money.. as i just never save!!

and i now know what i have to do, i think i need to write my list to... after baby is born i will get my pen and notebook out and start ticking off things that i know should of been done years ago..

i know life is what you make it and its only down to me alone to achieve what i want to achieve.. even if not for me but for my babies :)

Please stick around as i need your positive outlook on everything..

2014 will be here in no time and your baby will be very lucky to have a mummy and daddy who tried so hard to make sure that they had the best start in life! :family:

xxxx

Oh Kelly, thank you so much for your kind words, they mean so much :friends:

I welled up & had a lil  when I read the last part if your post, the OH gave me  & read you message & looked me in the eye & said your words were true & I'll be the most amazing mummy ever, bless him but made me  even more :)

If my planning can help in anyway at all that makes me feel so happy, I think we all have it in us but sometimes takes us to read someone elses story to get us to think about things

You've got a beautiful daughter already who has a Fantabulous mummy & your lil one is going be unbelievably lucky as has a wonderful big sister & amazing parents & this will be the case if you have your tick list or not my darling

xxxxxxx
